How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
Will there be an opportunity to purchase other Smut Peddler titles, like Silver, Sex Machine, Sordid Past, etc.?
Yes! During fulfillment, when we collect shipping costs, you'll have the option to add every Iron Circus title we have in stock as an Add-On, INCLUDING all our previous editions of Smut Peddler!
I backed day one, but now I want to adjust my pledge level. I have to cancel and re-pledge. Will I still get the exclusive day-one-backer reward?
Our friends at Backerkit assure us this will still be possible!
Will everyone who backs on the first day get a day-one-backers pin, or only people with physical orders?
Just the backers who pledged for physical orders! A physical copy of My Monster Girlfriend, a physical copy of Smut Peddler X, or copies of both. However, this will change if we meet our stretch goal, and everyone who backed on day one will get a pin!
What if I want an ebook of Smut Peddler X, but a hard copy of My Monster Girlfriend (or the other way around?) That's not a backer level!
We recommend pledging for the hard copy you'd like now, then adding the ebook title in the future, during fulfillment, when we ask you to confirm your address and collect shipping and handling.
Are you still looking for creators for My Monster Girlfriend? Can I submit a story?
Apologies, but My Monster Girlfriend's line-up was finalized half a year ago! However, we're always looking for new creators, both for our anthology projects and for graphic novels. Do you need a pin manufacturer? A printer? A publisher?
No, thank you! We had suppliers in place before launch, and we ARE a publisher.
How much of Smut Peddler X is old content from the original Smut Peddler 2012?
Smut Peddler X is a reprint with additional content, such as forewords, an afterword, and commentary, but it is primarily the same as the original volume!
