If the crowdfunding goal isn't reached, I'll still publish OMEN - but I'd only be publishing an eBook and paperback, with no additional merchandise. Both hardcover and merchandise production costs a lot of money and I would also have to bear the cost of editing and cover cost, which is tough for an indie author. If the goal isn’t met, backers won’t be charged and rewards will not be delivered.
The campaign will run for three weeks.
Great question! As a little thank you (and incentive), many creators included in The Book Bazaar 2026 offer a special and exclusive bookmark if you back 3 or more projects in the collection! How's that work? Easy enough. You back 3 projects, and you'll receive bookmarks from all 3 projects! But how do I get the bookmark? If you have other physical items included in your pledge, the bookmark will ship with them. For digital only pledges, there's two options that you get to decide on in the post-campaign survey: Either you'll receive the OMEN bookmark as a printable digital PDF, or you pay the postage of ~1,50€ and receive the physical thing!
Illustrated cover & art print: radacs Foil cover: Cosmic Scribbles Services / Jake Vanguard Chibis (stickers & keychains): ante.kun / Bei Sword (Bookmark & cross-collab sticker): Theoryly Cross-collab sticker (background): Icarussarts
EBooks of existing eBooks will be available once the post-campaign pledge is complete. EBooks of OMEN will be available around 1 month before release day: 1 June 2027 All physical items will be delivered within 1 month of release day: 1 June 2027 (but I'm aiming to have them delivered earlier). The delivery dates for physical items are estimated according to delivery times as stated on provider websites. I'll post the items in time to meet these stipulated delivery windows but is not responsible for any extenuating circumstances such as world events, postal strikes and disruptions, or issues with the receiving post office.
I'll always package your book with the utmost protection. If there is a print defect or clear pre-postal damage, kindly contact me at [email protected] so I may contact the printer with your complaint. For packages posted directly from my end, I'll be using a tracking system where possible. In the case your package gets lost, kindly contact me on the email as above so we may find a solution.
Publishing a novel comes with a lot of costs. Editing, cover commissions, merchandise - there's a lot of costs upcoming. While I'm doing a lot myself as well, OMEN is still receiving a lot of professional help.
Paperback books ordered on their own will ship directly from the printer’s facility. All other physical items, including orders such as paperbacks combined with other items and hardcovers, will ship from Germany. Paperbacks ordered as a single item or attached only to a digital reward (eBook/acknowledgment) will ship from various locations according to the backer’s country.
Any place that is serviced by Amazon or Ingram is eligible to receive a paperback. Any place that is allowed to receive mail and parcels from Germany is eligible to receive hardcovers, signed books, merchandise, and other physical combos.
EBooks will be delivered through Backerkit's own system, through which they can be downloaded. File options are epub and pdf. If you're having trouble downloading the eBooks, you're always welcome to send me a message.
The final length will only be known after all editing is done, but including all front and back matter, I'm expecting it to be between 400 and 450 pages. The trim size will be 6x9”. Currently, OMEN sits at 95k words.
In terms of the standard paperback and eBook, these will be available wide following release day. The hardcover and foil paperback will, for the time being, only be available through this (and possible future) Backerkit campaigns.
I'll be going wide with this anthology. That means, the eBook and paperback can be accessed anywhere you buy books online, including itch.io. Until about a month before release day, you'll also be able to pre-order through the BackerKit exclusive pre-order store.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
