Hope you'll join in for the 2027 Pintopia project that this will be part of!
Been working on the new designs and I'm excited about this series. Here's the first one - a bulgae! Bulgae are dogs sent from the king of the underworld to bite the sun and moon. They were used to explain eclipses. This one is my sun bulgae. I'll be doing a corresponding moon one as well.
Follow the pre-launch page as this project is developed for our January launch.
I'll be closing this project soon as I prepare to launch the next installment of Korean food and culture pins with Pintopia 2027. There are still two of you who haven't answered your backer surveys. This project will close Friday, September 25th and after that, I can be reached through my email: info(at)kimchikawaii.com.
If you want to order more pins, you can always find the latest stock in my shop!
Hope to see you all for Pintopia, 2027! The pre-launch page is up already, but VERY bare bones. I'll be fleshing it out in the next few weeks. Give it a follow if you want to be in to catch Early Bird bonuses and/or just want to see how the project developes.
Thank you all once again for supporting my first Pintopia!
Pins arrived late last week and backing cards are partially here. They split my order and some arrived on Saturday, lol. I'm expecting the rest of them to arrive early this week. I'm starting to send out packages for the pins that did have their backing cards. You'll get tracking numbers to the email address you have on file here with BK. Here are some work in progress pics of the pin carding I did yesterday (while watching a lot of Great British Baking Show).
Those of you who've backed my previous projects on Kickstarter know that I can send out stuff quickly. It's going to be a bit longer of a process here as I get used to the Backer Kit interface and fulfillment tools. My other set of backing cards should be arriving on Tuesday per tracking and then I'll start filling the orders that have those pin designs.
I do still have some surveys unanswered and some cards that failed to charge successfully. I'll be attempting to charge cards as I come across them. You should get an email when I try. Also, if you haven't filled out your survey, don't forget! This is the ONLY way I can get stuff to you and I don't want you to miss out. As of writing, we're 95% on surveys which is really good, but that's 5% of you that could miss your rewards!
Know someone who missed out? Or are you wanting some more designs to complete your collection? I'll be getting listings up in my main shop soon. I'm also going to be running pre-orders at some upcoming events the first weekend in May. So if you're in the Sacramento area, check out my Instagram to see where I'll be!
Ok, back to packaging and labeling.
I love the retro vibe that the halftone printing gives the ramyeon.
It's hard to pick up in a still pic, but the hwachae punch is perfectly sparkly.
Just a quick update - my pin factory has been working hard on getting all the designs done and said they expect to ship the order out this week. It usually takes about a week in transit. Then, I'll be quality checking, putting them on their backing cards and getting stuff in the mail. So we are pretty much on time for early May send out.
Keep in mind that things are currently a bit chaotic with customs due to the trade wars. I hope the pins get through smoothly and that I don't get a massive tariff, but I'll keep you updated as news comes to me. Not gonna lie, it's been a very stressful time for small business owners, especially those of us who have large pin orders in from Pintopia.
Cards were charged last night. I ran into a bit of a technical issue that was on my end - yet another learning curve moment.
Here's a factory pic of the ramyeon. I love how the halftone gives it a retro vibe.

Cause time got away from me, I'm moving the order locking date to this Thursday - 4/10 and the card charge date to Friday, 4/11. This will be the last date move, I swear! Pre-order shop will also close 4/10.
Thank you all for bearing with me. This is my first successful BK project and so there's been a definite learning curve.
Does this mean the pins are behind? Nope! I have a minimum quantity that I have to order from my manufacturer and I knew that I wouldn't max out any of those minimums, so production started when the first wave of funds were deposited to my account. Granted, with all the tariff changes and stuff, there could still be delays with customs based on whatever is going on at the time when the pins arrive, but I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, here's a look at the persimmon tea pin in progress showing the translucent enamel in the tea part.
Speaking of tariffs, unfortunately the situation remains in a steady state of flux. Tariffs are charged at the rate that is in place when the product arrives at US customs. There is no way to predict what they will be at this point due to all the changes. The fact of the matter is, I will most likely have to pay an unplanned tariff rate out of pocket. Tariffs are 100% the responsibility of the customer, NOT the country of origin.
Depending on how bad it is, I may have to increase the retail price of the pins when they go up for general sale. To be fair to everyone who's backed here - the prices you backed at and the listed prices in the add-on shop will NOT increase. So if you have other designs you haven't added on to your pledge, this would be the time to do so before likely price increases when my pins are listed to the general public.
