Ok, first—sorry for such a long period of radio silence.
We had some backend issues with storage and shipping, which always seemed like they would be solved the very next week...and I kept waiting for it to be resolved, before coming back to you with another update with good news, and waited… and waited… and kind of got stuck in this loop, instead of telling you right away that things were delayed, which would have been the proper way to handle this.
BUT now I finally have good news, and was able to get myself—and my mind—out of this goddamn waiting loop!
The addresses are being locked (I think we have the last 24 hours right now), and the module will finally be shipped! Woohooo! My god, I cannot wait to finally hold it in my hands after it sat for several months at the storage company. I hope you are excited too!
As a small way of saying “sorry,” I created a small pamphlet with a couple of unused ideas from the module, which is added below in the backers‑only section. I will be adding one (or two) illustration to it over the weekend, but all the text is already there. Once the illustration is finished, we will add it to the Pledge Manager and/or send you a new link.
Ok, I think the main message has been delivered—thank you very much for your patience!
Shipping is starting at the end of this month. I cannot wait to hold it in my hands—I’m on the same boat and eagerly looking forward to it. Soon we can head into the Bonnacio warzone and try to grab as much gold from our dead enemies as possible!
Next, the OST is uploaded, with only two short songs/recordings still missing. The main composer, Vezir, is creating a Bandcamp/YouTube video for it, so when it’s done I will share it also. In the meantime, it’s in the BackerKit section of this update (I uploaded it to the same Google Drive folder as the files from the last update, so you can find it there).
Last, I would like to promote a couple of things I either like, backed, or helped work on.
First, maybe you figured it out, but I like space, horror, and pirates. I participated as a co-writer on two projects. Most of my work is either for Mothership or Pirate Borg. Since this is a Mothership project, let’s start with Mothership and then move to Pirate Borg.
Twisting Unseen The first project I think is a must-have is Twisting Unseen. Several people I worked with in the past and really enjoyed working with are on it, so it will be a blast for sure. Chris from 5MW, Violet from RV Games, Christian from MeatCastle… man! The module itself is a map-making/dungeon-creating module with phenomenal maps from Ripley (more on him in the next promo as well). Go check it out, I think you’ll love it! https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/5-million-worlds-press/twisting-unseen?ref=home-page
Tales from the Locker Another project I participated in is the Pirate Borg zine Tales from the Locker v.1! Skeleton Ed put together a team full of great creators and is putting it all under his creative vision, and it looks very promising! Definitely worth a look from you, you scurvy scoundrels! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/arcanescrollworks4/tales-from-the-locker-1/description
These Bloody Sails Another Pirate Borg project that hits exactly what I’m looking for in the game: naval adventure! I’ve been missing proper sea-based adventures in what’s currently available for this great game, and it looks like they hit the spot with this one. So I’m definitely really interested in what they have to show. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thiseffingmgames/pirate-borg-these-bloody-sails?ref=2bggy1
Potvory This one is a unique system from a creator from the Czech Republic, where I come from as well, so I feel almost forced to promote them. Also, it looks really cool—it’s a retelling of cultural monsters from Czech folklore through a queer lens. And you can download it for free to check before backing, so go check it out! Atta boy! :) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/studiotvora/potvory-tabletop-roleplaying-game/comments
I'm giving a brief fulfillment timeline update. We have things ready to go to start fulfillment, so we will start shipping things shortly after we will close the Pledge Manager on Sunday, 1/18. We are also locking addresses with 48-hour notice today, so you can be all set if you have already completed your survey. We are also making the PDF available via BackerKit today. You will get the full-sized distribution file with all of the assets via Shopify, Itch.io, and DrivethruRPG when we push out your final orders, but we want to make it available to you now as well.
We'll share updates as various waves of orders are pushed out to different regions as fulfillment progresses.
We're so excited to get these zines into your hands!
sorry about the delay — the situation on the battlefield threw some unexpected obstacles our way.
That said, this is no excuse for the radio silence from command center to the fronts! Time sometimes flies way too fast, and I honestly didn’t notice how much had passed without me communicating with you.
I had hoped to put out a big update with shipping info and everything bundled together with the files, but as I said: life happened, and I’m truly sorry about that, my bad. A shipping update will come later, but the files are below in the Backer-only part of this update!
Dr. Violet from RV Games here to let y'all know that the Smoke Test for BackerKit surveys will go out immediately after this post! We'll be sending out the rest of the surveys on Monday morning. We'll be pushing out orders pretty quickly after this, but we have a couple distribution projects in the queue, so we don't have a specific date just yet.
Pricing Update
Shipping prices are the same as the initial estimates on the campaign page.
We've lowered our prices for international fees! For California, Canada, UK, EU, and Australia we are charging the exact sales tax or VAT rate for books, which can be anywhere from 0%-20% that is collected as a tax via BackerKit. If you order anything that is not considered a book (dice and accessories and post cards), the extra VAT is included in the shipping rate.
For backers outside of these areas, the fee for duties, taxes, and administration is still 25% of the product price and is built into shipping rates rather than being charged as a tax.
Collecting all of these fees upfront means that all shipping will also continue to be Delivery Duty Paid for all international orders outside of the U.S.
We will also provide access to the PDF for the zine via BackerKit once some more surveys are filled out. Final distribution of all digital files via Shopify, DrivethruRPG, and Itch.io will occur once we push out physical orders.
Survey Support
BackerKit provides some support service for us if you end up having any issues with your survey. You can use the link within your survey for support, or you can email [email protected].
Late Pledges
Late Pledges are still available via the link on the campaign page. We don't close the until we finish fulfillment, so this your chance if you missed during the campaign or wanted to wait until the project was done.
You can expect to hear from me again when we start pushing out orders for shipping.
