Project Update: Artist Feature: R Thomas Allvin
I've you've been following me for a while, you know I love supporting and commissioning human artists. Some may even consider it a problem. ðŸ¤
For this project I'll be working with four different artist:
- KillerLaurent (Cover art)
- Arkhaos.Art (Character Art)
- M.ieoi (Prints & charcacter art)
- R Thomas Allvin (Tarot Cards Art)
I'd love for you to get to know a little bit of the people behind all the gorgeous art created for this project. And I thought I'd introduce you to one at a time with a little nugget of how I found them and how we started working together.
I met Thomas back in 2008 or so and we used to hang a little bit here and there.
He's such a cool guy—we used to call him Vampire Thomas—because he literally channels Lestat.
I remember talking to him about going from full time to part time work and I asked him how he managed financially with it, and he said something so profound to 20-something old me:
My spare time and freedom to do other things are worth more than that.
When I met my wife and we were able to look at me reducing my hours, that was one of the main factors in helping make the decision. I wasn't doing well at work being full time and whenever I have full time shifts these days, I'm knocked out for the next week. But my stress levels has decreased so much and I have more energy than if I'd be working full time. I'm in a much better place now that I don't have to work full time, and Thomas is honestly one of the reasons I dared take that leap.
Last year I ran into him again after not having seen him for many years. He was at Comic Con with his own booth and the second I saw his tarot card art I knew I wanted to commission him for The Wishing Well.
His art is so detailed and beautiful and it goes really well with some of the witchy vibes of one of the subplots.
He's designed both the tarot cards for this project. They'll be available as both art prints and for the Digital Deluxe omnibus tier.
Also, these cards all have a few clues as to what's going to happen in The Wishing Well.
They're so gorgeous, are they not?
Let me know what you think!
Next time I'll introduce you to KillerLaurent who's hard at work designing the cover for book 1 & 2.
Once I have the first cover, I'll be able to show you a mock up of the hardcover book.
