Do you have any advice for smoothing down the seams? I feel like you said the foam was solid color through - so would it be possible to sand/buff the seams down? What about removing the numbers and repainting them? Overall, I am very satisfied with the dice and they are more solid and substantial that I expected, but if I could bring the seams down and redo the numbering to reflect normal dice, they would be perfection! Thank you kindly for your any feedback or ideas. :)

Project Update: Dice have Arrived!!

Hey all,
Just a quick update, it looks like the Dice have officially arrived at the warehouse today!

Right after I posted my last update I had some confusing communications with the manufacturer as to whether things had shipped or not. Ultimately there was a delay, as we were expecting them at the beginning of the month, and they shipped right as the team returned from Chinese New Year (which in manufacturing terms means everyone gets the entire month off, so nothing really moves in Jan/Feb).

But, now since things have arrived, I'm going to have the warehouse check packaging (I'm hoping that we can use our existing owlbear plush boxes to ship the die. If we can, that means we can start fulfillment next week. If not, then it'll probably take another few days just to get the right boxes and everything.

What does this mean for our handful of international folks? (right now looking into what our options are for shipping internationally in bulk. I wont lock the orders/charge for intl yet, until we figure out whats going on (theres less than 10 of you so we should be able to figure this out nicely).

So whats next?
I'm locking down backerkit and charging cards, so I can then import all the orders into shopify (our order system for our warehouse to start packaging and shipping everything out!

Thanks so much for the support and the extra wait!
Andreas!

Project Update: Surveys and Color!!

Hey All!!
I apologize for not putting an update out sooner, things have been busy on my side of the fence. That said, dice should be arriving at the warehouse a few days after Feb 17th (that was the initially quoted date, but then it was pushed back a few days due to production).

Also, should should have gotten an invite from backerkit for the survey and to pick your color. IF you havent you can recover your survey here.

Also, Im sorry i didnt sharem  here is the new purple color d20 that was the winning color! (this is from the manufacturer, i wont be able to see these in person until they arrive at the warehouse).

If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to reach out/ask!
All the best!
Andreas

Project Update: A Happy New Year

Hey all,
Hope you all had a good holiday break.
Just wanted to pop in, as my holiday break was crazy busy. Good news is that dice have been in production, I'm just waiting for an update to see when things will ship (it seems like sometime next week they'll embark on their journey to the US).
I will also be working on setting up backerkit to get everyones selections and shipping in (probably will have that ready within the next two weeks).

Also, here is some production shots that I got as well
(a little video showing the production line), https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IBtTrR42occ

Im hoping to have a picture of the purple one pretty soon as well.
more to come,
Andreas

Project Update: THank you, we did it!!

Hey everyone!! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to produce some large foam die!

The results from the poll were pretty close, but it appears that we will be making our the second color for our large foam die purple!!

In addition, we also hit the stretch goal where we will get started on another prototype (I put d8 as a placeholder, cause thats the one im most curious to see, but i will pose it to you which die would you like to us to prototype next?)

Also, I have already put in the order to the manufacturer, (ill be ordering 400 red and 300 purple die), they tell me that they can have the production done before the end of the month which is kinda of crazy (will still have to go through freight, which will probably take all of January), putting us perfectly at a early Feb fulfillment.

Due to the size of these die, i did underestimate how much freight might be. Turns out for the 700 die, it will cost us about $2300 (the cost to produce just the die came out to 6370, so freight came out to 25% of the total cost, which puts the die at around $12.3 each), It's a manageable number, but it won't allow us to sell the die into retail (which is fine, at least with this kind of volume). But this is why I wanted to invest in this test to see how it would go (knowing I would pay a little bit out of pocket, but could recoup with the extra die produced.

Anyways, Thank you so much for me on this journey!
I'll keep you updated as I get updates (and as we move into backerkit).

Andreas

Project Update: 2nd color poll

Hey all,
Thank you so much for the feedback and colors on the last post, i see there are a lot of thoughts on colors (which makes sense), at this point we're going to be able to do two, but three is a stretch for now. That said, I would love to see what your first picks are for color!
Thank you for your support,
Andreas

Project Update: Funded!!

Hey all!
Sorry for the delay in updates, I was waiting for a manufacturer update before posting this update.

First bit of great news, we hit our funding goal, which means these are going to be a reality!

The next part I have two questions for you:
  1. Ive confirmed with the manufacturer that we can do multiple colors in our production run, (but that has a minimum of 300 per color, so reasonably at this point can do 2 colors, cause we'd just pass the minimum order for thee production run. What would you want those colors to be? let me know in the comments (I can create a poll in the next update).
  2. (poll on this update) Ive been thinking a little about packaging and curious what you guys think, do you care if the die comes in a 'designed box'  like it were at retail, or you dont really care / save the cardboard (as long as it arrives undamaged)?

Thank you so much for the support, we've got a week left in this quick little project, and we're gonna get manufacturing started early!
Thanks again
Andreas

Not that red is a terrible color (my 11yo will be tickled red by it lol) but are there going to be options for other colors, even if that is a down-the-road goal? Thanks and cheers!

I might be completely missing it but I can't find a delivery estimate anywhere. I looked on the main campaign page and in the pledge level descriptions and didn't see anything.

You mention in your FAQ that it's not pet safe, but is it kid safe? I have a friend with small kids who'd probably love to back this for them to play with, if it is safe for them.

Project Update: First Day

Hey Everyone,
Just want to say thank you so much for the support! I know its a busy holiday season and I'm happy to see your support here. We've nearly reached our goal, and we'll be getting these dice out to you.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, I can take a few videos showing it off in specific ways/uses if you'd like.

Thanks again,
Andreas
