You awaken from a low berth, groggy. It’s dark. The air is stale, but breathable. Your companions groan nearby, rising from their own low berths.

The last thing you remember is signing a non-disclosure on Corrobank, Limited letterhead. A simple delivery job: Move freight on a company pinnace from the starport to a Corrobank research facility in the outer star system 20AU away. The trip was going to be boring, but pay was unusually generous. There was a corporate official...a VP...Roksoon was his name. And a cargo handler accompanied your crew. Tomson. Where is Tomson?

Across the dim space, another low berth, warning lights flashing, contains a woman you’ve never seen. Where are you? And what’s that noise?

Blood Ledger is a special Referee-Ready Scenario for Cepheus Engine, 2D6 Space, and any games that use the Traveller-SRD.

Whether you're running Cepheus Engine, 2D6 Space, or any other Traveller-SRD derived game, you need stuff for your players to jenga. Mystic Bull Games, the award-winning publisher of the Star Traveller's Logbook and the Scout Captain's Rutter, brings you Referee-Ready Card Decks to build emergent game sessions on the fly!

Remember the old 76 Patrons book for the Classic Game? This is like that, but in card form and more emergent. When your spacers are looking for a job, draw a card or three, roll some dice (or choose), and you have a custom mini-adventure ready for an evening's play. And they're fully customizable to your campaign, whether you run in the Official Known Space or one of your own creation.

Includes a general "compensation level" that you can customize to your campaign style.

Edit
You don't just get one deck, You Get Two! In addition to the traditional Patron Jobs Deck, you get a custom Salvage Jobs Deck, detailing various sites, ships, stations, and everything in between for your spacers to explore, exploit, and probably die in.

Each card in the Salvage Deck includes a whole mini-adventure, with a Point-Crawl Map, Hazards, and Prizes. Spacers can discover these salvage sites on their own or be directed to them by rumors, patron jobs, or other sources. Just like the Patron Deck, you can customize them to fit in an official Known Space campaign or to your own creations!

The point-crawl maps will suck less in the final version.
Edit

Each deck contains at least 18 cards (if we can reach our funding goals, each will have 36 cards) and are individually wrapped. If we reach our higher tier goals, each deck will be shipped in a custom tuckbox with cover art and a booklet with additional information, bonus content, and other goodies.

Cards

  • The cards are Tarot-sized ( 2.75 x 4.75 inches;  70 × 120 mm)
  • Printed on a light background and good-sized font (because I'm old and I can't see).
  • Two-sided with "player information" on one side and "referee information" on the other.
  • Cards are coated and textured. They really feel nice (see photos below).
  • Includes a PDF of each deck.

The Content

Each card has enough information to improvise a patron or salvage job, or to use as a basis for a more detailed adventure (or series!). Each card is also numbered on a d66 table, so you can roll instead of choosing if you want.

Patron Cards include:
  • A patron with description.
  • A "meet," a suggested place where the spacers meet the patron.
  • Job, how the job is presented to the spacers.
  • Assets: Anything the patron is supplying for the mission
  • Type and Value: General information to help the referee and players understand the job.
  • Expertise: Each card is geared toward a specific skill -- and each card has a different one!
  • Potential Rewards: In addition to monetary compensation, additional valuables that may be picked up.
  • Legality: In general, is the job legal, gray, or illegal.
  • Complications: 6 emergent complications for the job!
  • Consequences: Bad stuff that happens as a result of the job.

Salvage Cards include:
  • A descriptive title
  • A point-crawl map, conditions at the salvage site, and a key to the map.
  • Type and Value: General information to classify the salvage
  • Expertise: Like the patron cards, each card has a specific skill that will be featured or useful to complete the salvage.
  • Hazards / Complications: More things to kill your spacers!
  • Prizes: Additional salvage or rewards that can be obtained within the salvage site.

Goals!

I'm keeping this first Spacey Backerkit as simple as I can. Everything is being produced digitally or physically fulfilled through Drivethru. With that in mind, here are the targets we're shooting for.

Funded ($500)

Our first goal is to fund the project. If it's funded, I'll produce Two 18-Card Decks -- Patrons and Salvage for a total of 36 Cards. They'll be shipped in cellophane shrinkwrap each with an extra "Info Card" with some extra information.

Tripled up ($1500)

If we triple up the base funding level, both card decks go to 36 Cards! The Patron deck will have 36 individual patron jobs. The Salvage Deck will have 18 Salvage jobs and 36 Special Discovery Cards -- these are special benefits found in the derelicts, abandoned stations, and cargo scatters drifting around the universe.

Astounding ($2500)

If we reach this level, we'll put both card decks in their own art-covered tuckbox and include a small booklet with a bunch of extras -- d66 tables, additional patron and salvage jobs, NPCs, gear, sites, the works!

Beyond?

I have no idea if there are enough folks that want this kind of resources for their space game. If we push into the $3000 range, I have a few interesting ideas -- a companion book, expanding some of the cards into full-fledged adventures, and... well... I'll ask you what you want when get get close to that bridge.

Production, Shipping, and Fulfillment

The cards are being produced at DriveThruCards. I have two prototype decks and the printing is clean and the cards are high quality. You're really going to like them.

Fulfillment

I will be fulfilling and shipping the cards and other rewards to you directly from DriveThruRPG. This is a schedule of the Estimated Shipping By Region.

I cannot guarantee exactly what your shipping costs will be. You may be aware that the US is in a bit of chaos related to the United States Postal Service (among other things). I will endeavor to communicate any changes to you as I know them. If you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out and ask.

Edit

Everything at Mystic Bull Games is made by humans. Well...human....well...by Paul. He's mostly human.
