Hey all! Sorry for another update so quickly! We realized, due to a comment, that there was a miscommunication a while back about our printing partners - the softcover books are being printed in the US, while the compendium and hardcover require a different printer (which is also why the deliveries are being split, as per a previous post). We mentioned as much before, but could have been much, much clearer.
I'm also personally unhappy with the state of plastic and synthetic-based tariff costs, so I'm personally (not the company - hey, it's Logan here) going to take a financial hit to bring those down. I'm going to knock 30% off of those and personally absorb the cost, because if I were charged what they're requiring, I'd be cross as well, and the recent tariffs hikes weren't in place when the campaign ended.
Please feel free to leave questions or concerns about anything to do with the project! We're committed to continued transparency, and if there's anything to catch we would like to do so!
Hey all! We provided the breakdown on where the final charge costs are coming from in our last post (please check that out, as it explains the cross-section of tariffs, taxes, and shipping fees), but I wanted to specifically address a minor point of confusion:
If you ordered only digital items (like PDFs), the charges you'll receive are digital sales tax. Due to our business's location, we're required to collect and remit sales tax on e-books and other digital items (as you'd expect), and this project didn't charge taxes, tariffs, or shipping fees until this point.
We're sorry for the confusion that caused! Also, we're sorry for the cost the tariffs for US customers incur - we think they're as ridiculous as you do (especially for any product that involves plastics/synthetics, like the mousepads).
Good news, everyone! Our shipping profiles for this project are built, and though we still wish we lived in a world where tariffs didn't exist, we're ready to proceed with final charges! The final charges for this project include taxes, as well as shipping/tariffs. Please read everything below, and contact us if you have any questions! We'll be sending out a 48-hour notice tonight that will begin a countdown to charging for everything in a couple of days.
Manufacturing and Shipping
This project will involve two packages being sent out for many backers, so your items will arrive in two waves (in an effort to save on overall shipping for everyone).
Hardcover books and card decks will arrive from our printing partner, who will be shipping directly to you all once the orders are printed. This is to save on routing all of the books into the US then back out (which would require US tariffs be paid by all countries) as well as to cut down on the total number of shipping fees involved.
The printing and shipping time for these may vary a bit, but we'll keep you all updated on progress as we hear it from our partners!
Softcover books and other add-ons will arrive from Nat19's storehouse directly - it is likely these will arrive first, as these have all been printed already.
For those getting a combination of both, we're going to be absorbing some of the shipping on the add-on side to make things easier on everyone.
Preorder Store
We're going to briefly reopen the pre-order store, which can be found at the link below. We'll be leaving it open until the end of this week to let anyone who wants to put in a final order for anything do so.
Non-US/CA backers may notice that there is still a small tariff charge on your account - these are for tariffs that regularly exist for countries and are not related to the recent US administration's universal tariffs. These would normally be invisible in an order and be baked into the taxes, but since BackerKit is breaking tariffs down into a metric in the shipping field, it will be visible for transparency. Like with other tariffs, we've lowered them from the actual amount and will be eating the majority of the cost as a business.
Hey all! Momentous news - once we get the word from our shipping/printing partner that their shipping profiles are complete, we'll be good to have BackerKit review everything, then charge all final costs (taxes, tariffs by country, shipping, etc) and put our shipping orders in! We're hoping to get that word in by tonight or tomorrow afternoon, at which point everything will get rolling~!
If your addresses have changed or there are any final considerations you need us to look into, please let us know now!
Hello all! Today, we released Zagalhta's Exolunar Collection, linked below, a monumental expansion to 5E that is our largest project since Lyre's Guide! This book contains elements of space opera media, but it can be used in regular campaigns.
It features the usual gamut of content - classes/subclasses, races/subraces, items, artifacts, monsters, mechs, mythological settings, factions, threats, hazards, etc.! We hope you'll check out this release and support us on our continued journey in building 19th Edition and expanding Somnus Domina!
