Hello! I'm so excited to get the finished Rats Attack! to you all soon.
Playtesting has gone really well. The rats have been a lot of fun to play with and I can't wait for y'all to play them too. Between the rats, the two adventures, and more the document is nearly 50(!) pages. Most of it is in the proofreading process. So we are almost done!
The big hang up has been the art. The illustrations of the Saddlerat, Rot Rat, Phase Rat, & Rat Swarm are finished! I am still waiting for the 2 Rat Friend (retainer) and 3 E-Rati-icator (different ancestries) illustrations as well as the full page comic strip art to be finished. I didn't anticipate delays, but that's how it goes sometimes.
If you want to go ahead and flip through Rats Attack! I am happy to pass along the 0.9 version! It's 99% done, just missing some art.
If anyone has questions, email me or find me on Bluesky!
Every time I check in on this campaign, I'm overwhelmed by everyone's support. We crossed $700!
Work is continuing behind the scenes. I have a playtest tomorrow for the introductory encounter to The Upset Tower! It features Ratlocks, Saddlerats, and the heavy-hitter: Rot Rat! Our artist who is responsible for all of the characters you see on this page is also hard at work on the first drafts of some of the characters.
We would love to see another full page spread backed! Ray is a comics artist and I think we're going to take advantage of that on the one someone already pledged. I'm looking forward to it.
Saddlerat! Every villain could use one...
Rot Rat! Way too cool
Thank you!
What a crazy awesome first 3 hours! Every character will now get their own custom art!! Due to the demand, I have added an option to contribute toward full page spreads dedicated to scenes from the adventures. Our artist is a comic artist so expect that style.
What does funding mean? I'm not losing money on the art I already commissioned! Yay! This project has always been about the passion and contributing the a greater community first. I do this in my spare time and for the love of the game.
What will more funding mean? Making this pack as professional and fun to play as possible. I think I'm going to try to get Rats Attack! on the Codex marketplace when that becomes available. More funding makes that more likely so I can pay for developer time or just feel more motivated to spend more evenings in the trenches.
