Playtesting + DCC Day + Gamehole Con
Production is progressing swimmingly, I swear

Here's some info that should not enrage you:

Playtesting

I am playtesting the DCC RPG version of Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother throughout the rest of July, both in person and online.

In Person

I'm running Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother for DCC RPG at DMen Tap in Chicago (2849 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60618) on Wednesday, 7/15, and 7/22 at 7 PM CDT, and on DCC Day, Saturday, 7/18 at 2 PM CDT.

Online

Friday, 7/24, and 7/31 at 6 PM CDT, I'm hosting playtests for DCC RPG on the Nerdronomicon Discord. To play, join the Discord and DM or @ me in one of the channels. Comment on this post if you need help with any of that.

In both in-person and online formats, I have room for 6 players each game. Playing gets your name in the book (if you want) and gives you a sneak peek at the material, though it may be wildly different by the time it comes out. First come, first served.

I will announce 5E playtest sessions in August.

Play the World's Deadliest RPG!

Community Standards
Hey folks!

Quick note here. I've gotten some feedback recently that came across as abusive, so I want to set some standards. This is going to be part of all Nerdronomicon campaigns moving forward because, apparently, some folks old enough to have a credit card are not mature enough to be respectful in public forums.

Community Standards

We strive to promote free expression, creativity, and rich collective experiences. This community's engagement inspires and sustains our work, and we are committed to producing thoughtful, unique, and entertaining creations to support it and the larger TTRPG community.

Members who are uninterested in fostering mutual respect, openness, and camaraderie, or whose behavior transgresses the BackerKit Community Guidelines, will have their money refunded and will be reported to BackerKit.

Bullying, harassment, and intentionally hurtful behaviors are not welcome.

Trolls will be slain and their carcasses burned.

I am incredibly grateful to all of you for supporting this project. It is on schedule to be fulfilled in October of 2026. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, insights, critiques, etc.

Thank you,
Andy

Juneberry Jam Three Days Too Late!
I just learned that we have an indigenous berry in Chicago called the "serviceberry." They look like blueberries and are also called "juneberries" because they fruit in June, making them June fruiters (which is really fun to say). The blooming of Serviceberries is one of the earliest signs of spring, foretelling the arrival of the itinerant preachers who would soon arrive to perform services for all of the people who died during the winter, hence the name. Fun!  All of this is to say that I've had way too much coffee today and have lost control of the same part of my brain as Estelle Getty's Golden Girl.

June update

So the campaign ended a little over a month ago, and I have done nearly zip. Well, not really, I have ordered and received the bumper stickers, sticker sheets, and "Child of Bobugbubilz" patches! It was really surreal placing an order for nearly $2,000 worth of stickers.

Playtesting

I need to do a ton more playtesting of Mutant Spawn. I'll send out an email/Backerkit update shortly about in-person and online opportunities to participate.

Campaign numerology

Here are a few (out of order) screenshots of weird numerological moments captured throughout the campaign. They demonstrate how obsessively I monitored the campaign.

I missed 1-4, 8, and 9.

And, finally, the real reason for this update

Ok, now that you're all softened up. I have a new campaign launching in August. It is part three in the Saga of Sorcerer Verrükter and the Rükstau Rejects: The Sorcerer's Conundrum. It's a level-2 adventure compatible with Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG that puts the players into a labyrinth filled with everyone's favorite TTRPG pillar: puzzles!

Follow the campaign now to receive FREE VTT Tokens!

Yes, the mad sorcerer needs you to retrieve a magic thingy from the center of an ancient elven labyrinth. Easy peasy.

This will be a digest-sized zine in the style of the two previous chapters, The Sorcerer's Fate and The Sorcerer's Return.

Seriously, follow the campaign now to receive FREE VTT Tokens!

If you follow the campaign, you get a FREE set of 36 VTT Tokens featuring characters and monsters from previous adventures in the saga of Sorcerer Verrükter and the Rükstau rejects: The Sorcerer's Fate, The Sorcerer's Return, and Aufgebläht or Bust, available only by following The Sorcerer's Conundrum!

How does the campaign end?

It's WIMPER-TIME!

Yes, that's right, the campaign ended in the middle of the night, not with a bang, but a whimper.

That being said, holy crap! What a great campaign! Thank you all so much for supporting and encouraging me (and giving me your credit card info 😈)!

What's next

While I have your eyes, I want to direct their attention to the next couple of Nerdronomicon offerings. Please give them a follow!

The Sorcerer's Conundrum ☠ DCC RPG Adventure Zine – August 2026

If you learned The Sorcerer's Fate and witnessed The Sorcerer's Return, get ready to tackle The Sorcerer's Conundrum.

Delve into an ancient elven labyrinth at the behest of the mad sorcerer Verrükter in this puzzling adventure zine compatible with Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG! Part three in the Saga of Sorcerer Verrükter and the Rükstau Rejects.

It's puzzles all the way down!

ALERT: Do not play The Sorcerer's Conundrum if you don't like puzzles.

The Sorcerer's Conundrum ☠ DCC RPG Adventure Zine

BASILISK \\ MOTHERSHIP RPG \\ EXISTENTIAL HORROR ADVENTURE – October 2026

WARNING: INFOHAZARD

is an existential horror adventure compatible with the MOTHERSHIP sci-fi horror role-playing game.

It is not suitable for individuals with too firm or too loose a grip on REALITY.

There is NO RETURN once experienced. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

BASILISK \\ MOTHERSHIP RPG \\ EXISTENTIAL HORROR ADVENTURE

Ok. That was a lot, I know. Please continue reading to find out...

What's also next

If your credit card hasn't been charged yet, it will be in the next few days.

I'm going to continue playtesting, writing, editing, and illustrating the modules until they stop wriggling.

Playtesting will continue until morale improves!

I'm going to do as much in-person testing as I can here in the Chicagoland area and at every con I can get to. I also plan to set up some virtual sessions—look for an update with sign-up instructions for virtual playtests soon. Once the player-level playtesting is done, I'll get it in a near-final state and send it out to everyone as a PDF.

Then, my pretty DMs and Judges, you will scatter like flying monkeys and playtest it with your own groups.

Let me know how it goes: What doesn't work? How can I make it better for the GMs?

All playtesters will be credited in the books.

Rough dates

  • June – Rough draft PDF goes out to backers - playtest and hunt typos at will!
  • July – Surveys go out to backers
  • August – Content has been finalized, and we go to print
  • September – Addresses will be locked, and shipping will be charged
  • October – We send out the goodies

* All dates are subject to the whims of the universe, but this is my intent

How we did

We smashed seven stretch goals!
  • Six new monster encounters are going to be added to the adventures
  • Everyone, PDF-level backers included, is getting two sticker sheets (three if you backed in the first 48 hours)
  • VTT tokens of monsters and NPCs for the digital folks
  • "Bobugbubilz is my Copilot" bumper stickers for physical backers (and in a surprise development, PDF-level backers are going to get a physical bumper sticker too)!

Alas, we were not able to cross the $17k threshold to get everyone a "Child of Bobugbubilz" patch. They will be available in the preorder store and as add-ons in the pledge manager ($5 each or $20 for 5).

This isn't the last you'll hear from me. I've got your info. You can't stop me!

Look for monthly progress updates and some gentle marketing around upcoming Nerdronomicon offerings.

I can't handle how grateful I am to all of you for supporting Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother.

Thank you.

WTF is Happening Here?!

Let's ride this insane Overtime wave!

First! Thank you, thank you, thank you! This campaign has been such a joy. I've loved every minute of it, and I can't thank you enough for your support!

Second! After 10 hours of delicious Dungen Con recovery sleep, I realized that we don't have to wait until the pledge manager to add the Child of Bobugbubilz patches (it'll still be there, tho).

You can now add one of 2 new add-ons
  • A single Child of Bobugbubilz patch for $5, or
  • A "retailer"-level that gives you 5 Child of Bobugbubilz patches for $20 (buy 4, get 1 FREE)!

Warning: if we cross the highly unlikely $17,000 stretch goal, every physical backer will get a FREE patch!

Third! We blew past the $15,500 stretch goal while I was blissfully tucked into my own bed last night, so the bats (and millipedes) make it into the funnel! Thus, revealing the cynical polling engagement tactic to be nothing more than a ruse. Actually, I would have gladly not written two more encounters. 😄

Fourth! The final stretch goals have been revealed: an 11" x 17" poster of the Eye of Bobugbubilz at  $18,500, and a glow-in-the-dark Child of Bobugbubilz enamel pin at $20,000!

There is a secret final stretch goal that the folks who played the Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother playtest at Dungeon Con know about, but I highly doubt we'll get anywhere near it. If, beyond all sense, we hit $20,000, it will be revealed.

THANK YOU!

This Creature Will Not Die!

I can't thank you all enough for your support, but I'm not going to stop trying!

First thing: the campaign is STILL RUNNING! As of this update, we are still in Overtime Mode. Which means that when the campaign ended at 4 PM CST on May 1st, a 10-minute clock started running. If at least one person pledged to any of the Mega Dungeon Month campaigns during that time, another 10 minutes was added to the length of the campaign. Well, it's Sunday at 6:37 AM CST as I write this, and the thing won't die!

Which means you still have time to upgrade your pledge or bug your friends, relatives, coworkers, extended family, strangers, and, of course, enemies to back the campaign. I don't know how much longer you have, so you'd better hurry!

Second thing: The final list of monster encounters will include Poisonous Subterranean Mold, Ravenous Troglobitic Leeches, Blind Albino Crabs, and Gargantuan Olms! I am shocked that Giant Mutant Bats didn't make the cut, but there will be plenty of giant mutant whatevers in the adventure.

Last thing: We only got 100 votes for Child of Bobugbubilz patches. So you're out of luck.

Just kidding! I want one of these things too much to hold myself to a dumb rule that past Andy made up. Present Andy wants a glow-in-the-dark patch!

There will be more to come, including more thank-yous, project updates, virtual and in-person playtest opportunities, and other things I can't think of right now.

Thank you so much for making this my best campaign ever! May our greasy lord bless you with warts, boils, and carbuncles! Praise Bobugbubilz!
