For the English edition, we have completed the revision of all text, for both the cards and the guidebook. It was a team effort that helped us focus on the details and keep as many inaccuracies out of the text as possible.
For the Italian edition, Oscar is done translating all the cards and is about to start working on the rules.
Meanwhile, Maria is working on the graphics to make the book richer, with additional art for the Location cards and card backs for every kind of deck.
Matthijs is setting up some demo games and spreading the word, because we want this campaign to be just the beginning. If you have any tips on places that would love to hear about Soledad, we’re all ears!
All in all, we can say we’re working perfectly according to our original schedule, and on track to go into print by the end of July.
This lets us start preparing the ground for new magic of a darker, more cryptic nature. If you hear the babbling waters, fear not: it is only the secret pool, beckoning to you. Soon you will learn more.
Here we are, back to Soledad after another convention. We got to celebrate the success you made possible at Chambercon, the chamber larp convention we’ve been running for years.
The rush was intense, and it left us exhausted, but we want to thank everyone who chipped in for this campaign. The Roots of Soledad is a labor of love and it has been heartwarming to watch it reach so far.

It’s been a great adventure, ever since we met Matthijs. It starts when you turn a corner because something catches your eye, and then you find yourself completely swept up in it. In the duende, that unsettling yet wonderful thrill that Garcia Lorca knew how to let himself be captivated by.
Thank you to everyone who supported us, to those who let their curiosity get the better of them, and to those who don’t yet know that the kapok flower awaits them, hidden among the Roots of Soledad.

Thanks to your support and generosity, we will be able to develop a virtual tabletop that can handle the customizable cards of The Roots of Soledad in addition to the print-and-play and playingcards.io options for digital only. This is the first time we work on something this elaborate, but campaigns like these are meant exactly to challenge yourself to make something good-- while counting on great company.
There are less than 24 hours left before the end of the campaign. It has been a great adventure, and we want to enjoy it to the last second alongside you all.
Over the last few months, we have done our best to reach the end of the road Matthijs started charting years ago, testing Soledad over and over. We found proof of its solid foundations, and worked on the points where it could be strengthened even more.
You've always shown us you believe in the things we do, so we ask you once again to share the project with all the roleplayer friends you think might be interested in visiting Soledad. Let's gather round the black kapok tree in a day's time, and then for months to come.
We did it! Thanks to a village of 261 backers, all card decks for The Roots of Soledad are now complete. Its people and any strangers who visit in the future will have a pick of 30 Locations to wander across, each offering two sides of the same coin.
Now that the game has taken on its final form, we still have one final ace up our sleeve.
If we can use these last 60 or so hours to reach 15.000€, we'll work to develop a digital edition of Soledad that can handle customizable cards. Right now, digital-only backers are set to receive a print-and-play version as well as a playingcards.io module that will work alongside a separate document, and those won't go away; once unlocked, this third option will be self-contained and as close to the full tabletop experience as we can make it. Our current plan is to use Tabletop Simulator, but we are also weighing the viability of other options.
So, for one last time, we invite you to help us spread the word. We want as many passionate players as possible to witness the blooming of the kapok tree, in all its eerie glory!

Thanks to you, the campaign chugged along while we were away little by little, and we're a hair's breadth away from completing the Location deck with the last 5 cards.
Meanwhile, we also got another gift: a first impression review of Soledad by Brazilian youtuber Solerverso. Auto-dubbing from the original Portuguese makes it very accessible, and it gives a brilliant, in-depth look on the mechanics.
