Project Update: Fulfillment begins! And a new novella appears!

Hello dear backers!

We have, as of this morning, received the money from the pledge manager and begun printing all of the physical rewards for this campaign. Once printed, they will ship to our fulfillment contractor, who will then mail them out to you!

We know it's taken longer than we wanted, and we appreciate the patience everyone has displayed. We can't wait for you all to receive your issues (and your other assorted goodies!) and finally be able to enjoy them.

What's Next?

We have a new project to announce: Seers in a Broken Season, a stone-age sword-and-sorcery (tusk and totems?) novella by the vaunted Jonathan Olfert! A story about the wandering mammoth warrior, Walks-Like-a-Rockslide, and his war against the whalers of a distant, icy shore. It is about 35,000 words long, it is already written and edited, and the cover art will be a full-color painting by Brian LeBlanc (who painted the beautiful cover for John R. Fultz's Worlds Beyond Worlds and Schuyler Hernstrom's The Eye of Sounnu, among others). The teaser page for the campaign is up here

Eat your heart out, L. Sprague

There will be some fun rewards for early backers, so sign up now and be ready when the campaign goes lives at the end of July! If you're unfamiliar with Jonathan's work, check out his previous stories featuring Walks-Like-a-Rockslide in Old Moon Quarterly volume 5, and volume 8. You can also find many of his lovely stories gracing the pages of Beneath Ceaseless Skies and Lightspeed (among other places) as well: here, for example. If you're a fan of Primal and its combination of heartfelt melancholy and extremely metal fight-scenes, or if you want a good tale that asks the question, "should I, a civilized mammoth, continue the cycle of violence? Yes, or no (but also maybe yes)?", or if you simply enjoy anything that looks like it belongs on the side of the coolest van in town back in the '70s, then you'll find a lot to love in Jonathan's work.

That's all for now. We're incredibly excited to have rewards shipping out; we're even more excited to have this novella by Jonathan ready and raring to go. See you all soon!

Sincerely,

The Editors at Old Moon
