Aegis Atlas Preview 1
Colchis
Colchis was wealthy long before stars fell and ambrosia blessed the earth. Previously, it was a wealth born of fertile earth and gold deposits. Now, under the Oracle and inventor Queen Medea, Colchis measures its wealth in ideas. The queen gathers philosophers, craftspeople, enchanters, and other experts around her, filling her capital city of Aea with great minds.
Aea is the seat of the Masters of Colchis, the College led by Medea herself. Once a meager town, it has rapidly evolved into a well-defended citadel guarded by mechanical marvels the Masters of Colchis hammer into existence. Those marvels range from spring-operated clocks to huge, golden automata, the most famous of which are the dragons. Unlike the winged serpents that command the skies above Shang, Colchis’s dragons are mechanical in nature. They perch on Aea’s walls and patrol its skies or lumber out to battle, where they belch clinging Greek fire on Colchis’s enemies. Some smaller ones draw chariots, both in battle or for private transport. The dragons have proved their mettle in combat only in support of Colchis’s allies; their existence has so far proved an excellent deterrent against attacks on Colchis itself.
Aea’s famous for its workshops and forges, its walls and sentinels... and its canals of ambrosia, channeled underground to flow into a cistern beneath Medea’s palace, where it’s dispensed liberally and freely to Colchis’s craftspeople. The canals aren’t the only sources of ambrosia in Colchis — they abound in pools and streams in remote mountains and meadows. Medea argues that she doesn’t control it; as such, she simply makes sure it’s shared efficiently.
Part of the sharing is granting permission for talented inventors and engineers to descend into the cistern and inhale the vapor that rises off the concentrated pools of ambrosia, creating more Oracles to add to Colchis’s pool of talent. It’s not a perfect process — some people inhale the vapor but are not Inspired, and some become Olympians or Champions. Those individuals are welcome to remain in Colchis, finding roles amongst its protectors, but they never achieve the status and respect granted to Oracles.
In spite of Medea’s open approach to the study and creation of new technologies, plenty of people would rather take from Colchis than contribute to and share in its success. Colleges and kingdoms send spies and thieves into Aea in hopes of pilfering blueprints or machines they can study and improve on themselves. No doubt some are successful, but Medea keeps a meticulous record of all the failed attempts she and the Masters of Colchis uncover. Jason of Iolcus’s brazen attempt to steal Medea’s favorite creation, her golden ram, tops the list for its ignominious resolution. Rather than simply purloin the automaton, Jason tried to steal Medea’s heart and thereby gain access to everything Colchis had to offer. Accounts vary as to how close he came to victory; when Medea tells the story, she says she saw through him instantly and strung him along for a while. People close to her imply Jason was more successful than Medea lets on. Whichever version is true, Jason and his compatriots are no longer welcome in Colchis — which doesn’t stop him from sending agents to do what he failed to.
People of Interest
Medea: Medea has a vision of a nation — nay, an entire world — governed by the wisest and best among humanity. Thanks to her passion and her nearly bottomless treasury, she’s advancing ever closer to her goals. But while she’s focused on exploring just how much Inspired minds can shape the world and on her own marvelous creations like her golden ram automaton, she leaves many affairs of state to her counselors, who she assumes are loyal to her. While many are, philosophers and engineers are no better or more ethical than any other group of people, and plenty of them seek to exploit Medea’s vision for their own ends. Colchis is one crisis away from losing faith in its leader, and plenty of people make plans to replace her if she stumbles.
Pateis: Pateis inhaled the vapors of Ambrosia and grew strong — and charming, and handsome. It gave him many gifts, in fact, but it didn’t make him an Oracle. As long as he’s in Colchis, he’ll never have the influence he craves. Pateis is the heir to a merchant family, part of Colchis’s elite. But since the sky chariot fell, Queen Medea listens to her pet philosophers and inventors, valuing their insights over those of her own people. Medea herself would say that’s because Pateis has nothing wise or insightful to offer; he’s simply a demagogue. He’s an effective one, and he’s gathered several other like-minded people. So far, they daren’t move against Medea, but that time will come — once they’ve gathered enough wonders and engineers to rival her own.
Many Colchians who aren’t engineers or enchanters feel devalued in Queen Medea’s new world. Some wealthy farmers use their fortunes to fund creators and thereby purchase status; others resent the way their voices are drowned out by newcomers. The Champion Pateis gathers a group of rich dissenters, supported by Champions and Olympians, who plan to overthrow Medea and hand back some power to a council of rich Colchians. They have no intention of throwing out the Masters of Colchis — they’ve made Colchis extremely rich — they just want to bring them to heel in service of the aristocracy.

Once the Onyx Path team gives it the green light, it'll go for another round of development before heading to editing. Our main book is still in the post-editing development phase.

We’re all out of the traditionally-printed copies of several of our core rulebooks from previous crowdfunding campaigns. So we’re going back for more!

FINAL HOURS
Never before has Creation known the perils of the Abyssal Exalted. They have emerged from the gloom of the Underworld as champions of death, sworn to the service of the Deathlords and the Neverborn. Each was offered the gift of the Bleak Exaltation at the moment of their own demise, and each chose to willingly become an agent of the apocalypse. Their motivations are as manifold as any others — they may seek destruction or domination, malice or justice, ancient secrets hidden and forbidden or sheer iron-willed survival.
In service to their lieges, these deathknights will grind the Underworld to heel and scour life from the face of Creation. Or…they might break from those oaths and set themselves up as death’s own Lawgivers, ruling empires of the dead as sages, arbiters, and reapers. All that can be known for sure is that with the Abyssal Exalted loosed upon the world, it will never be the same again.
As noted last month, I'll be sending a quick progress report at the end of each month, to keep us all on the same page. Regular communication should be constant and consistent, and that means I'll have a bunch of boring updates and every once-in-a-while something cool for you.

Some movement on our Stretch Goal supplement, the Aegis Atlas. Last month we showed that the writers were in the middle of the revision process, going back and forth with the developers and incorporating their "redline" suggestions. Now the manuscript is finished with the writers and back in the hands of the Developers where they take it and turn all of the different parts into one cohesive whole.

This is officially the first "regular" monthly update for our project. I'll send these updates out every month to let you know where we sit. We're still in the earliest stages of this post-campaign, where projects make incremental movements along the progress path. A lot of months will be pretty similar, just a quick note to let you know that the Onyx Path team is still working on it. Any time we have a new reward or something of interest to share, I'll include that as well.
At the end of each month, I'll include a summary of our rewards and their current status (they'll either be delivered or marked as still pending, possibly with additional details if I know more). I'll also list any relevant Update posts, in case you want to go back and check into something.

As mentioned, each month, I'll list our "Pending" rewards and our "Delivered" rewards. So, still in the very earliest stages. Our main reward, the Trinity Continuum: Aegis book, is in post-editing development. This means the book has gone through the major editing process, but final tweaks and changes are incorporated by the developers to ensure the book speaks in one voice and is consistent throughout.
Really exciting to see our main Stretch Goal project, the Aegis Atlas supplement, has already had writers submit their first drafts! Now the developer is working on redlines - revisions and instructions for the writers to incorporate as they work towards their final draft and hand it off to the development team.

Many of the rewards for our Crowdfunding projects take a lot of time and effort to complete. Usually, the campaign is a means of moving the project from an idea (even when it's a mostly-fully-written idea) into the actual channel that turns it into a project/product. It'll be a while before we're ready to talk about delivery on Trinity Continuum: Aegis, and even longer for our projects generated via Stretch Goals (theAegis Atlas supplement, and the rest).
That said, there are a few rewards that are available now, as they were mostly add-on PDFs or bundles of existing products. And now we can work on getting those out to you over the weekend.

Well, it's been a little bit longer than I'd anticipated, but here we are just past the middle of September and I've just finished hammering the BackerKit Pledge Manager into shape and have begun prepping it for launch this week.
This will likely be the first of two updates over the next two weeks. Once we've got a healthy survey response - something like 85% - I'll prepare our first wave of rewards: the existing PDFs that were offered as Add Ons and bonuses (like the other Trinity Continuum books and the supplements). I'll send out an update when that process is about to begin.
Beyond that, starting at the end of October 2023, I will send out the first of our regular month end updates. Near the end of each month, I will be sending out an update with status notes on our main projects as well as the Stretch Goal projects we added. As noted in previous updates, these projects take a long time to put together. You've seen the manuscript preview PDFs, but there are still many moving pieces and puzzles to solve in turning these manuscripts into awesome books. These month-end updates ensure that communication is constant and consistent, and that we're all on the same page with regards to where we stand.

If you've pledged to a reward tier that includes physical rewards, you can enter your shipping country at this stage. As noted during our campaign, we haven't set international shipping costs yet - those will be calculated and added in when we're preparing to ship the book. That won't be for a long time, though, and there will be plenty of opportunity - and notice - for you to make changes.
If you select your Pledge Level, you will see a list of all items included in your Pledge Rewards, and also have the option to upgrade your Pledge Level, in case you've decided to get the hardcover instead of just the PDF for example.
Again, I suggest you don't switch to any pledge levels containing the hardcover book at this stage, and instead wait until the books are preparing to print and we have set up international shipping costs so you'll know exactly what your final costs will be before we lock down orders.
If you've pledged to the $5 tier and want to add the PDF to your rewards, you DO want to switch Pledge Levels instead. You can either click on your Pledge Level or Switch Pledge Level to upgrade to a tier that includes the PDF.

Once we've got a fair response to our survey and collected a reasonable amount of info, I'll be working on fulfilling rewards that are available now - like the PDFs of the titles included in our Add On section (for example, Trinity Continuum Core Rules, TC: Æon, TC: Aberrant, TC: Adventure!, TC: Assassins, and the Add On Bundle options that were offered). We did it! Working as a crew, more than 975 backers came together to help fund the development and production of Trinity Continuum: Aegis, a brand new rules and setting supplement for the Trinity Continuum tabletop RPG.

That's pretty great! That's pretty inspiring! But what more could I'd expect nothing else from Trinity Continuum players and fans?!
Despite a few decades history and a new edition relaunch back in 2018, it's always a trip into the unknown when a new setting is introduced for the Trinity Continuum. Straying from the three "classic" eras has been exciting and bold and unpredictable, but I'm so happy to see the Continuum Community come out again to support these projects and expand this game line. I remember Ian sharing vague notes and ideas about Aegis back when the Trinity Continuum crowdfunded the core book and Æon in 2018, and it's sort of amazing to see rumors and rough ideas fully manifest just six years later.
SEVEN STRETCH GOALS
That's excellent. I mean, we were at six just yesterday! Always awesome to unlock one final Stretch Goal as we head into the final day.
Those celebrations and milestone markers along the way are fun - I certainly like having something to mark our accomplishments during the campaign and they help keep the enthusiasm up. But I really really love when we can add additional content, especially an a chance for the writers to travel around the globe a bit to show us what else is going on in that era, as well as the opportunity to expand on some of the locations and people that could use more space than the book would hold.
And all of that is, of course, on top of our main purpose here - the creating of the actual book itself! This is the real reward - everything else is a bonus!
So a huge congratulations to the creative team on this project, and to all of the backers who've joined in to make this possible. I'm happy about the goals we hit and rewards we introduced, but I'm also always amazed and excited about having more than 975 backers join in during this campaign. The Trinity Continuum is alive and well, and I'm looking forward to exploring the world presented here and hearing about others doing the same!

All of this comes from debris from a far future space station (from earth), flung back through time after an explosion, were there also escape pods or the like that made it?
Ambrosia is nanotechnology that is designed to repair the space station and heal its inhabitants, since it is "used to" flux does that imply that it "inspires" any with the potential that it comes into contact with in the far future? If so, does it do so in a way similar to Champions, Oracles, and Olympians, or closer to Talents, Psions/Psiads, and Novas as the underlying Quantum/Subquantum backdrop has been radically altered since?
Does this also imply that the nanotechnology can/does replace the Prometheus Chambers? Also potentially implying that psiads replace psions and eventually reach full power themselves?
Are we looking to see a far future Trinity Continuum Setting? Maybe Ascension? I would be quite interested in seeing what y'all come up with for that!
Side note: some of the things that Oracles and even Mesmers can do can't really be accomplished by Psions/Psiads I believe. Is there a way for a psion/psiad to learn these capabilities? I am not sure if that could be an appropriate supplement or tasty bit.
Welcome to the final hours of this campaign! We've had a pretty great run - funding quickly on the first day and then unlocking SEVEN Stretch Goals along the way. We're closing in on 950 backers, which is just amazing!

ADD ON REWARDS- the other half of the Reward Tiers update, including information on the second step of pledging. There are several Add On options that you can include for as part of your pledge process. including the other Trinity Continuum books and related supplement bundles, and the Aegis Reference Screen, which we unlocked via Stretch Goal achievement.
ADD ON selections will be available in the post-campaign Pledge Manager as well.
SO: Ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier you want, and select any Add On options you wish to include. AND - make sure that you are comfortable with the Pledge amount, in terms of it covering everything you want and theaffordabilityof the pledge at this moment!
I'm going to speak against my own self interest for a moment, and repeat something I say at the end of every campaign - though 2023 has been a bit better than the past three years, the world is still unpredictable and some futures are a little less certain. Ensure that your circumstances enable to afford this pledge at this moment - BackerKit will begin processing payments later tonight after the campaign ends and neither Onyx Path nor I have any involvement in that process. If you are unsure of your financial situation but don't want to miss out, please pledge for a tier you can afford now and know that you will be able to upgrade to open pledge levels in our post-campaign Pledge Manager for some time before the book is completed.

Once you're comfortable with your pledge, please ensure that the payment and contact information in your BackerKit account is up to date and correct. Making sure your e-mail is entered correctly and your credit card isn't expired will speed up the next step process. (I have learned from experience!)
WHAT COMES NEXT?
3. AFTER THE CAMPAIGN ENDS
First, we celebrate. The campaign page will subtly change, locking out the ability to pledge and showing the final totals. We'll give socially-distanced high fives and digital fist bumps in the Community section.
Then, the BackerKit payment process begins. Starting late tonight and continuing over the next week, Backerkit will begin charging your payment methods for the total amount you've pledged.
If there is an issue with your payment method (expired credit card or incorrect number or pre-paid Visa awaiting funds, for example), BackerKit will keep trying to process payment during this time.
Once this step is done, which will likely be by the end of August, BackerKit will confirm everything with Onyx Path and I can begin to set up the project in the Pledge Manager and load in all of the campaign data.
In addition to providing the crowdfunding platform for this campaign, BackerKit is also Onyx Path's regular Pledge Manager partner.
BackerKit provides a robust fulfillment integration and pledge management program that will allow us to work with all of the data and distribute the rewards to you. It will take me a few weeks to set the project up. Once I've got it all entered and built, the team from BackerKit will review to ensure I didn't mess anything up too badly, and then I'll make any changes they've suggested and we can move on to the Survey stage.
4. BACKERKIT SURVEYS
Once BackerKit says I'm good to go, I will send out a survey to all backers. This is why confirming your e-mail is important!
The BackerKit survey is both a verb and a noun - it will collect data for the analysis of some aspect of a group (enabling Onyx Path to set print runs, prioritize new projects, and fine-tune future campaigns), as well as providing a general review or summary of the reward tier you've chosen, confirm all of the rewards associated with that reward tier, and confirm your total pledge amount.
I expect Surveys to go out by mid-September 2023.
During the Survey period, you can choose to increase your reward tier and add on additional options. If you've found $20 in your jacket or found an alternate income source and decide it's time to trade up to the hardcover version of the books or include another add-on, you can do so at this time. Note, you will not be able to reduce your reward tier selection, only increase.
If you selected Add On options, they'll be added to your reward list automatically.
Note that you'll be able to upgrade your pledge tier for quite some time - until we're getting ready to print the book itself and have figured out International shipping costs. So don't feel pressure to have it all figured out right away - we'll make sure there's plenty of time to get it all sorted before the books go out.
Similarly, if you have the hardcover book as one of your rewards, the survey will ask you to confirm your shipping address, even though it'll be some time before we ship out the final product. Do not worry about moving before shipping begins - you will be able to update BackerKit right up until the point that we begin fulfilling the final book. We will send out a notice prior to lock down so you can update any information.
I'll also use the Survey to confirm some details for the premium reward tiers.
5. REWARD DISTRIBUTION
Once the surveys are up and running, I'll prepare fulfillment for the existing rewards - the Add On options that are all currently available. Depending on how smoothly the Pledge Manager process goes, those should be out fairly soon after the survey stage starts. So, let's say the existing PDF rewards will be out to you by the end of September. That's only the beginning, though.
This is a long process, but I will send out regular updates (usually at the end of the month) to keep you up to speed on Onyx Path's progress. There will be strings of updates that are just "still working on it," but I will share new artwork or information when I can.
Eventually, we will have a completed PDF of Trinity Continuum: Aegis. Onyx Path will take some time to distribute, review, and compile any errata or corrections that need to be made. When they've made any necessary changes, they'll make an updated version of the PDF available in your DriveThruRPG digital library and then begin creating print-ready files for the Print-on-Demand and the hardcover versions.
It's yet another long road ahead, likely full of twists and turns and unexpected challenges, but one that we wouldn't be undertaking if not for your ongoing support.

This book is a setting and rules expansion to the Trinity Continuum Core Rulebook and requires that book to make full use of the rules and options contained within. If you don't already have the Core Rulebook, there is a pledge tiers that include it alongside the Trinity Continuum: Aegis PDF (The Fellowship of Āšipu). You can also simply add the Core Rulebook to your rewards list via Add On option.
We’ll be charging for shipping in the Pledge Manager once the books are being printed and we can deal with the actual shipping charges rather than using our best-guesses this far out. We’re still anticipating pretty hefty costs to ship the book internationally (see our current guesses on the front page) so be forewarned, but we’ll cross that enormous bridge when we get to it.
All backers pledged to receive the Trinity Continuum: Aegis PDF will have the unlocked Stretch Goal supplement, which adds even more locations, persons of interest, super science and devices, added to their rewards list automatically as a bonus. Choosing the correct Pledge Level for your desired rewards, and then filling in any "gaps" with add-ons, ensures that you'll be claiming all of your desired rewards as a thank you for supporting this project and bringing this world to life.
Remember, your PLEDGE AMOUNT is equal to your REWARD TIER + optional ADD ON FUNDING only - Any Shipping costs will be collected at a later date. You will also be able to select Add On options in the Pledge Manager after the campaign, but remember that only funds added during the campaign count towards Stretch Goal funding targets.
Also to note, only those who participate during the campaign are able to have Stretch Goal rewards added automatically to their rewards lists. If you're waiting to pre-order at a later time, it's better to pledge to the The Delphic League tier now and then simply upgrade your pledge later to include these bonus rewards.

In another discussion I noted that I like BackerKit's term "Achievement" more than our usual "Stretch Goal" terminology because I like the celebratory tone and how "Achievement" can cover a few different aspects of these bonus rewards. But we may have to really stretch to reach that last goal, so Stretch Goals are pretty appropriate for this update!
Before we talk about a target on the horizon, let's look at our journey thus far. Over the past 3 weeks, we've been working solidly through our Stretch Goal targets, to the point that we've already achieved SIX Stretch Goal targets - including one that we achieved only two days ago!

Looking at these, I'm always happy with our regular milestone markers, the Backer T-Shirt and desktop wallpaper. I just changed my computer monitors a few days ago, and I like to update my screens every few months. I'm doing my best to enjoy the simple things in life.
But I'm really excited about our new content rewards. I'm always up for new locations, with especially ones that expand on some of the geography from this book - and then look to the wider world! And having a section for other Aegis-era "super science" will be cool as well! I think the developers and writers will have a great time when outlining content for the sections we've unlocked.
We're looking good to maybe add one more Stretch Goal... and then, with some great effort, we can maybe expand the Aegis Atlas PDF once more. Let's see what we've got lined up.

I'm guessing a lot of us have done a lot more online gaming over the past few years. Any time I can get new tools for my group, I'm happy. Even if we don't use them as tokens on a VTT map, these token packs are great to use as character inspiration, or NPC portraits, or just as visuals in describing a scene. I love gaming in person across the table, but schedules are complicated and many in my group now live in distant locations. It's fun to bring a little extra to the online experience to keep it exciting.
And after that, a real STRETCH for our final goal. One more expansion for the Aegis Atlas - new fiction. The pieces that have been shared so far are excellent. I love seeing the Trinity take on these epic legends and getting a sense of the setting and mysteries of the game, and how things are perceived and interpreted in-game, so more fiction would be a huge win in my book. I hope we get there.

Not Much More Time
If only we had a glowing liquid that could change our perception of time!
Unfortunately, we seem to continue to move forward at a regular pace, and our campaign will some come to the inescapable end. We've achieved our primary goal of funding the book, but there is one possible Stretch Goal reward almost within our grasp, and a fantastic fiction reward just beyond that! I know we've come far already, but it wouldn't be a STRETCH goals if we didn't have to really STRETCH in the final day! I'm confident that it is absolutely within striking distance, though, so let's keep working toward it!
So, as every update concludes: let's keep the enthusiasm rolling! Keep spreading the word and letting others know about this project. They've got this final day to jump in and share the Stretch Goals we've achieved!
And every backer who joins in as we approach the end is not only able to enjoy the additional rewards already added by the early fans and backers, but also help reward those early backers by maybeunlocking that another Stretch Goal or two!

ACHIEVED! -At $40,000 in Funding - Aegis Atlas: Additional Locations and Devices - The Aegis Atlas bonus supplement will be expanded to include additional non-Greek locations, along with some Aegis-appropriate super-science gadgets and devices.
