VERY Early look into the game
Although it's an early sketch you can see how the board will look, and I will briefly go over mechanics in the next segment!
Mechanics and gameplay
The goal of the game is to win in 2 of 3 areas visible on the sketch - there is a Knight, Damsel and Herald area, and they all battle in their respective fields of expertise!
There are 3 main types of cards corresponding to the areas, and four card subtypes - Character, Equipment, Event and Misfortune. Characters are the core of your deck, and need to be placed in correct areas before supporting them with the rest of card types. For example a 'Veil' equipment card is exclusive to Damsels, and cannot be placed on the field without the Damsel present.
You start with a 20 card deck, and a 6 card starting hand. You can use as many cards as you wish in one round, but after you pass the opponent has the priority to do as he pleases. After all cards are on the field the amount of points gathered determine a winner! These point are gathered for a total of 10 rounds, and can be spend for better cards between rounds, but you still need more points than the opponent to be the final winner of The Joust, so spend your points wisely!
For example spending 10 points you gathered in Round 1 for one additional card might hinder your deck consistency, while not really being worth the 10 points you had to spend on it, as you might come short in the end and lose the match!
