Project Update: Surveys out! Print files fixed!

Good gracious everyone,

Missing pages!
When I exported print files a month ago, apparently I missed pages 1 and 3 on the Letter-sized rulebook. That has been fixed. I apologize for that. If you have previously downloaded the file, you should be able to re-download it and it get fixed.

How to download files!
After you complete your survey, I have to click a couple of buttons on my end before the file gets distributed to you. It's not automatic. I will log on a couple of times a day to click the buttons. From my understanding, there are two ways you will can get the file:
  1. An email from Backerkit comes your way.
  2. Go into your Backerkit survey, and it will have a button for downloadable content. Click that and save the .zip file to your computer.

Sorry for the problems!

Re-posted here from BGG The rules state: "A Company can only fill in 2 spaces on each Junction." Is this limit counted between all players, or is this an individual limitation? In other words; can I fill in up two spaces on a junction for one company even though multiple junctions have been built in the same location by other players?

Travis, just an FYI, the letter format of the rules only has page 2. The A4 seems okay and I'll just use that for now. I hope your feeling alright and on the mend. My youngest has it this week as well, it just isn't going away.

Project Update: Post-Campaign Updates

Hi all,

I have been quiet the last few days because I actually caught Covid. I have had a mild case, but I'm doing better now. I appreciate the patience.

Coming up!
  1. I have pushed the Pledge Manager review out, so that should get approved soon.
  2. Once it's approved, I will push out Surveys.
  3. There are no add-ons, no frills. Fill out your survey and then I can send you the PDFs.

That's it. Not a long one this time. Look for a survey over the next couple of days. Once your payment locks in, then I can start distributing PDFs.

Talk to you soon,
Travis

Project Update: Choo Choo! It's Saturday!

Hi everyone,

We are below the 48-hours remaining mark. I know, I know, that was really quick, but this is how I like to do things.

A couple of comments:
  1. The very sparse BGG page for West Texas Railways is here.
  2. If you haven't already, you should absolutely check out Battle Card by Postmark Games. That whole crew is lovely, and they are doing some wonderful things.
  3. Also, you should check out Benny Sperling. He runs Roll and Write Revolution, which is what all of this is based on. It also happens he's a super great person that is doing exactly what he wants in the way he wants it. And I love that.

Upcoming Info:
  • This will end Monday morning sometime. Very shortly thereafter I will send surveys for you to fill out.
  • Once surveys are complete, I will distribute PDFs through Backerkit. If you have any trouble receiving the PDF, let me know. I have alternative methods.

I'll send out three more updates:
  1. The day of the campaign ending.
  2. When surveys go out.
  3. When things lock down and PDFs get distributed.

That should be it! Sorry this is all logistics. But logistics can be what make a good train game.

Edit

My payment failed. It's still the same credit card I've used on backerkit for 3 years. Added it again. Still failed. Bought something on Amazon. No problem. Looked in my banking account: credit card is still active. Looks like a Backerkit fault by me. Vincent van Beelen

Project Update: Choo Choo Two!

Hi all,

Thanks for all of the support. This is a fun, little one.

Three Quick Updates from Questions Asked:
1. BGG Listing is in the works. Of all things, I forgot this. So strange.
2. Someone inquired about a play through video. This is my overly-long play through video on a tablet. I'm not offended if you don't watch it. You can find that here.
3. How can we help make this blow up? Y'all, this is lovely already. What do people say nowadays? "I'm here for the vibes."

Let me tell you the history of West Texas Railways.
A million and a half years ago, during lockdown, I was tinkering with a game design that was incredibly loosely based on Paris Connection/SNCF. It was a simple (1) grab a cube (2) place a cube (3) do a thing. I could never crack that code. Mind you, Paris Connection/SNCF is a wonderfully devious game; I didn't have much hope.

So I shelved WTXRW. 18(ish) months later, my friends at Button Shy were running a print and play style contest where the game had to be playable/printable of a 4x6 inch-or-so piece of paper. So I reworked WTXRW to be a flip and fill model. This turned the game from a Paris Connection cube rails game to something quite a bit different. Oh, and we had to use 18 cards in the pitch design. So I did!

This was the original map:

You can see all my chicken scratch trying to make the game work.

I did not get selected by Button Shy, which is probably for the better because now I can give you what you see on the main page instead!

What's your favorite train game? Next time I'll talk about mine!

Talk to you soon,
Travis

Will there be a BGG entry for this game? Be nice to have a place to share info/pictures and ask questions.

Project Update: Choo Choo, Everyone!

Hi friends,

Thanks for being a part of this. Each time I run a crowdfunding campaign, I am blown away by the response. I never want to take for granted that I have wonderful people like you who believe in the things that I make. And for that, I am exceptionally grateful.

What to Expect
If you are new to one of my campaigns, it's good to have you! I run Press Pot Games by myself and have a track record of quirky, small-form games. It's what I love to do. This is different than (most) other campaign I've ran because it is all digital. I like small-form, no-nonsense campaigns. This is all about spreading the word more than anything else.

Logistics
This is a short campaign. After 7 days, I'll send out surveys. After those get filled out, I will send out the games across a multitude of platforms to make sure everyone gets them! I will send out an update every couple of days during the campaign. It will have information about the gameplay and other stuff of interest. I will not overwhelm you with information.

Missing Pieces
I had a play through video that has now failed twice to upload. I'll work on that. Also, I'm in the process of getting the BGG page up. Won't lie, friends. It entirely slipped my mind.

And that's it. Next update I'll explain the early beginnings of what is now West Texas Railways.

Super important note:
We don't gatekeep here. Does the game have trains in it? It's a train game.
