Award-winning Mexican-Chilean collab. Dive into a magical-feline world with adorable cat alchemists featuring the art from Catfe (best seller card game in Chile). Quick to learn, this chaotic game mixes reaction & memory and guarantees laughs.
Meowchemists is a real-time memory race where players have to brew a potion to score points, spending the next round dealing with ridiculous side effects from them!
When a player has the correct combination, they call out the potion’s name, take the card, and stop playing for the remainder of that round.
Brewing a potion scores victory points, but it also gives that player a side effect during the next round. These include clapping after every tile, laughing continuously, balancing the card on their head, repeating a word chosen by the group, or playing with limited fingers.
Everyone Plays at Once There are no individual turns in Meowchemists. At the beginning of each round, every player secretly chooses one of the available Potion Cards, and several players may pursue the same potion. Once the round begins, everyone searches through their ingredients at the same time, creating a race in which remembering the recipe is only part of the challenge.
Memory Under Pressure Reveal one ingredient tile at a time. Ingredients required by your chosen potion may remain face up, while anything you do not need must be hidden again before you continue. You may switch to another potion during the race, but doing so can force you to turn previously revealed ingredients face down.
Success Comes with a Side Effect Complete a recipe, call out the potion’s name, and take its card to score its victory points. You stop playing for the remainder of that round—but during the next one, you must follow the potion’s side effect. You might have to clap whenever you reveal a tile, keep one hand behind your back, laugh continuously, or balance the card on your head.
Your Ingredients Never Stay Put Once every available potion has been brewed, all ingredient tiles are turned face down. Then the player on your right swaps the positions of two pairs of tiles in your layout. What you memorized is still useful, but it is never completely reliable when the next round begins.
Flip, remember, and brew before somebody else does!
You may use both hands, but you reveal only one new tile at a time.
When you find an ingredient required by your chosen potion, leave it face up. Reveal something you do not need, and it must be turned face down before you continue. You may change the potion you are pursuing, but you cannot keep unrelated ingredients visible while working on a different recipe.
Once every required ingredient is face up, call out the potion’s name and take its card. You are finished for the rest of that round, while the other apprentices continue racing for the remaining potions.
Every potion earns points and a problem
The potion you brew remains in front of you because its side effect changes how you must play the next round. The effect lasts for that round only and never stacks with another side effect.
You might have to keep your dominant hand behind your back, clap whenever you reveal a tile, laugh until you finish a potion, balance the card on your head, or repeat a word chosen by the other players every time you flip something face up.
The memory race stays the same. Your ability to play it normally does not.
A successful brew helps your score immediately and complicates your next attempt.
Your memory does not survive the round untouched
Once all the available potions have been brewed, every ingredient is turned face down. Then the player on your right swaps the positions of two pairs of tiles in your grid.
You knew where everything was. Now four ingredients have moved, the next set of potions is waiting, and somebody is already balancing a card on their head!
Graduate with the highest score!
When at least one player finishes a round with 17 or more VP, everyone plays one final round. Then add the points on your Potion Cards and subtract 1 VP if you used your wild ingredient.
The apprentice with the highest total graduates as a Meowchemist. In a tie, the tied players race to brew one final potion without side effects.
What originally began as a project called "Alquimia 101" evolved through a shared mix of talent, creativity, and collaboration into the chaotic universe of Meowchemists.
This game is the result of an incredible international alliance that brings together the experience of three outstanding independent publishers:
Jalapeño Lab (Mexico): Cooking up fresh and fun tabletop experiences, with a strong commitment to supporting and showcasing Mexican and Latin American game design.
Detestable Games (Mexico): With a solid catalog and extensive experience developing games known for clever mechanics, intense player interaction, and eye-catching components.
Pudú Juegos (Chile): Experts in creating fast-paced, highly addictive family games designed to bring all kinds of players together around the table.
The team of alchemists behind the potion:
Pepe Franco: Designer of the mechanics that unleash chaos and laughter around the table.
Paula Bugueño: The artist responsible for giving the game its visual identity and bringing its world to life.
Paty Arellano and William Burgos: Key members of the editorial team, helping refine the project and turn it into a reality.
Much more than just a few names.
While they may have been leading the cauldron, many more hands and minds have been working behind the scenes. This game would not have been possible without the effort, dedication, and support of the entire team across all three publishers, who brought their passion to every stage of development, playtesting, and production.
