BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Who is Regolith Comics?

Regolith Comics is a publishing branch of Regolith Publications, LLC. Both companies were started by author Tristan Vick to showcase his many creative projects. Created in 2020 during the height of the Covid pandemic, Regolith Comics allowed Tristan Vick to break into the Indie Scene with a string of hit titles. Alicia Carter & Robot is the hit series and flagship title of Regolith Comics. But we also publish Daughter of Wolves -- a werewolf vs. vampire vs. monster hunters set in a steampunk / ricepunk fantasy world, The Profane -- a vampire / detective supernatural thriller, and the upcoming cyberpunk series Blood & Chrome (title tentative). Regolith Comics has run 6 successful Kickstarter campaigns with numerous satisfied backers. This is the first time running a Backerkit campaign.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

Can I buy multiple copies?

Yes! You’ll be able to add copies in the Pledge Manager after the campaign is finished.

What will shipping scost?

All shipping fees will be charged separately, AFTER the campaign, during pledge management. The prices below are estimates. Actual shipping prices will be determined after production is finished and we're gearing up to send out the books. Also, if you add-on additional physical copies of the game to your order, your shipping cost may increase. Estimated shipping costs (for a single book): $10 USA $20 UK $25 Canada $30 International

What's the turn around time on getting my comics?

Since Tristan Vick handles all his own projects -- e.g., creating the stories & scripts, hiring artists, keeping schedules, setting up crowdfunding projects, doing most of the graphic design, lettering and formatting the comics, finalizing print files, uploading to the printers, working with the print companies to ensure quality publications, ordering special perks/rewards, packing and shipping the books & etc. -- the average turnaround time is approximately 5 to 6 months. Expect 6 to 10 months to be on the long end of wait times. If the books have been published previously, wait times can be reduced to about 3 months. It all depends on the current rate of progress of each book and whether or not artists are meeting their deadlines. On occasion, life gets in the way and projects can get delayed and take a little bit longer. The longest wait so far has been for Daughter of Wolves 2 which took a full year because the colorist needed to take a long hiatus due to the death of a beloved family member. Most backers of crowdfunding realize there are longer than average wait times for indie books that lack a publishing house and a 12-person publishing team to get things out more quickly. However, Regolith Comics has fulfilled all crowdfunding projects to date. That alone speaks volumes about the dedication of Regolith Comics to meet its promise to produce and ship some of the best indie comics available today!
