Project Update: Project Update: Nomas, The Psionic City of the World Below

Hi folks!

Back in December, Subharup and I launched our crowdfunding campaign for A Refugee's Guide to Nomas. Our goal was ambitious, and while we were delighted by the positive response, the campaign didn't quite reach its target.

Rather than giving up, we went back to the drawing board. Without crowdfunding, we couldn't support the full development of the project, but the interest generated by the campaign convinced us there was still a way to bring Nomas to life.

Partnering with our two amazing artists, Dojikaan and Inge, we began exploring a new direction. The original book was designed as an introduction to Nomas, covering a broad range of content, including lore, ancestries, treasures, NPCs, monsters, and locations. Much of that material had already been written, and we'd shared previews during the campaign. The largest part of this was the overview of the city, and one specific district, Riam's Tears.

Following that thread, we decided to develop a series of district books, each containing the relevant locations, ancestries, monsters and treasures. While Subharup and I worked on the manuscript, Inge and Dojikaan established the visual direction. We were blown away by how they brought the district to life.

Today, we're excited to announce the future of Nomas:

  • The Director's Guide to Nomas (Coming August 2026) - a free companion supplement to Nomas: The Psionic City of the World Below. It provides guidance on using the district books, additional setting information, and new rules for play, including psionic ancestry traits and the narrative Gloom mechanic.
  • Riam's Tears: A Faction-Based Toolkit for Directors (Pre-orders open for August 2026) - a supplement for Draw Steel set in the semi-aquatic district of Nomas, the Psionic City. This volume introduces new factions, NPCs, monsters, and locations, along with two new ancestries tied to the district’s culture and history.
  • The Naia Ancestry (Available Now!) - a free ancestry preview of the Naia, the merfolk of Nomas, which Dojikaan has developed into a standalone preview product.

Before deciding whether to pick up Riam's Tears, you can download The Director's Guide and the Naia Ancestry completely free. Read through them, share the ancestry with your players, and get a taste of what Nomas has to offer.

  • Emberward: A Faction-Based Toolkit for Directors (Coming...?) - This part is up to you! The manuscript is well underway, but we need your support to keep this project going. The ask is simple: if you like what you see, pick up a copy of Riam's Tears and spread the word.

We hope you enjoy exploring Riam's Tears as much as we enjoyed developing it!
