Locking Addresses, Shipping Starts Soon. Also Be Your Own Detective Investigation Sheet!
Howdy backers,
I''ll be locking addresses in the next 48 hours so get any final tweaks in before. Shipping will start later this month getting Interloper to backers!
I'd also like to share the Be Your Own Detective TM investigation worksheet. The format is largely inspired by a blog post Sean McCoy made about running mysteries in RPGs. Interloper has a heap of moving parts, NPCS, and bits of clues and time tracking so it should be helpful to have a central sort of dashboard to walk through the parts of an investigation and get a 10,000 foot overview of the general facts of the case so far as they race to not be framed.
Interloper Print Copies Arrived in Warehouse, Shipping Out June
Howdy backers,
Good news! All the Interloper print copies have been produced and arrived at the Space Penguin Ink warehouse and are looking snazzy. However due to having to complete fulfillment on another project, they won't be able to get these shipped out until start of June.
This has taken a bunch longer than I'd like as well and I'm sorry for the additional wait and am really eager to get these delivered to you. Largely the current timeline is a result of my unexpected writing delays wrestling with the manuscript a while earlier and have rippled from there and I take responsibility for that. Predicting the pace of personal writing work on large projects has always been a bit dicey for me and going forward I'm looking to have the entire feature complete and edited first draft manuscript of every book before we run a campaign.
I really value how supportive folks have been with the pace on this project and we're finally at the last stage. If you haven't updated your shipping information we'll be locking that in by late May.
Interloper Final PDF and Going to Print + Upcoming Project
Howdy backers,
I've updated the Interloper PDF files using a lot of your great feedback and sent the final draft out to all campaign and late backers emails via Backerkit. (Linked again here in update for those who can access it. )
The files are also accepted at the printers and out contact at Jostens let us know that print copies will be coming off the presses and shipping out to Space Penguin Ink by 4/29, possibly earlier. After they arrive we'll start shipping all of these books to your doors.
It's been a long time shepherding Interloper to completion and I want to thank you again for helping to make it possible.
Also I wanted to let you know about our new RPG adventure book launching April 21st-- Citadel of the Sun Kings.
It's an excellent sandbox desert adventure for Old School Essentials by Micheal A. Curtis with cover art and additional illustrations by Logan Stahl. And the final manuscript is already 100% complete!
Beyond the walled town of Najad lies the Red Wastes: a wild region of blazing sun and shifting sands, scattered with ruins of empires long turned to dust. Within these sun-scorched lands, whispers speak of a golden citadel rising from the dunes: the last redoubt of the Sun-Kings, a place of treasure and terror, guarded by the remnants of elder powers.
• Najad: A caravan town brimming with intrigue, shifting loyalties, and dangerous opportunity. • The Red Wastes: A wild expanse of mythical strangeness filled with ancient beasts, lost shrines, petrified forests, and hallowed tombs. • Six Dungeons: A flooded cistern inhabited by unlikely residents, a desert ruin filled with traps and snakes, the forgotten sanctum of an oracle, the cyclopean domain of the Iron Behemoth, and the mighty Citadel of the Sun-Kings itself. • Realm Below Night: A sunless underworld of forgotten horrors that allows for fast travel across the desert, assuming you survive the journey. • Discover: 18 new magic items and 13 new monsters. • Flexible Design: Play it as a full campaign or plunder the treasures of the Wastes for your own setting.
Thanks a bunch for your patience. Here is the finalish PDF for Interloper! Hope you enjoy it, should be enough to get your game started if you're looking to be running the mystery module as soon as possible. It's been a while working on this and I'm happy to share it with you.
Bookmarking is still pending but hyperlinks should work.
EDIT: Late pledge backers can't see the link for some reason, but I've just sent this to everyone's email via Backerkit as well.
If you see any typos over the next week, send an email with the typo and page number to [email protected] and we'll work on fixing them in final, final version and send it to the printers.
Thanks a lot for your patience on Interloper, I wanted to let you know that the draft is completed and has been sent to the editor. Finally! I’ll be charging credit cards for shipping and late pledges shortly and delivery should happen February-March.
My apologies for the lack of communication between updates, I prefer to keep you in the loop more than I have been this project. Frankly the issue that came up is that I was hit with one of the worst cases of writers block I've ever experienced on Interloper, after it turned out I needed to restructure the initial draft. My estimates on the time required was constantly inaccurate and I found myself stuck in a cycle of not putting out an update because I hadn't made expected progress and felt I was almost to the point of wrapping it up to pass by that expected deadline and feel the stress about being yet further behind which slowed my pace further and made me resist putting out another update about delays without concrete advancement in the process. I really try to maintain a higher level of service to backers of my stuff like as in past projects and will keep in touch as we get this wrapped and shipped out. Whenever I've published anyone else's work I've made sure that they were entirely wrapped with a completed draft prior to crowdfunding because it's the easiest thing to promise future creative work but the process isn't mechanistic and life happens, blocks show up and having a thousand or two backers waiting eagerly for something you've promised adds a sharp edge to the writing of a project.
I knew this but thought that this time, I'd be the exception. I was not, and I'll be holding myself to the same standard of having a content completed editor review ready draft ready for all future projects. I've been around and releasing stuff long enough to not make mistakes like that still. But on the whole I'm really excited about Interloper's approaching production and getting into your hands now that the choke point has been removed. Editing should be wrapped by end of the month and we'll go into layout by end of December. Depending on Jostens our printers time frame we're looking at a February- March delivery. I'll be reaching out again in January when I've got the timeline firmed up and to let you know we're locking addresses. Thanks for your support and I hope y'all do some quality gaming over the holiday season with good company.
