Project FAQ
If we don’t reach our crowdfunding goal, we will still be publishing the amazing stories submitted by our writers, but we won’t be able to make the publication as special as we’d like it to be. We’d only be publishing an eBook and paperback, with no additional merchandise. Both hardcover and merchandise production costs a lot of money and we would also have to individually bear the cost of financially compensating our authors, which is tough for an indie publisher with no existing royalties and income. It would basically be coming out of our own pockets at this stage. If the goal isn’t met, backers won’t be charged and rewards will not be delivered. Additionally, Pres would be sad, and we all want to make this pretty snake happy, right?
The campaign will run for a month, from May 28th to June 30th.
EBooks will be delivered to your inbox via Bookfunnel on release day: 31 October 2026 All physical items will be delivered within 1 month of release day: 31 October 2026 (so, by 1st December 2026) The delivery dates for physical items are estimated according to delivery times as stated on provider websites. Snakeskin Press will post the items in time to meet these stipulated delivery windows but is not responsible for any extenuating circumstances such as world events, postal strikes and disruptions, or issues with the receiving post office.
Snakeskin Press will always package your book with the utmost protection. If there is a print defect or clear pre-postal damage, kindly contact us at [email protected] so we may contact the printer with your complaint. For packages posted directly from our end, we will be using a tracking system where possible. In the case your package gets lost, kindly contact us on our email as above so we may find a solution.
Publishing an anthology comes with a lot of costs. While we have in-house editing, formatting, and design services, there are several costs that are difficult for us to shoulder ourselves. These costs mainly consist of: author compensation, printing and producing associated merchandise, acquiring necessary stock, and other unexpected administrative costs that might crop up.
Snakeskin Press operates in Europe and calculating everything in the home currency keeps things smoother and eliminates dependency on conversion rates, which can fluctuate a lot. Backerkit also shows an estimated price in your currency.
Yes! Every author receives a fixed payment of $25 and printed copy. If we reach the stretch goal of €1800, we’ll double the financial compensation we’re giving our authors from $25 to $50.
Paperback and hardcover books ordered on their own will ship directly from the printer’s facility. All other physical items, including orders such as paperbacks combined with other items, will ship from Norway. All hardcovers ordered as a single item or attached only to a digital reward (eBook/acknowledgment) will ship from the UK. Paperbacks ordered as a single item or attached only to a digital reward (eBook/acknowledgment) will ship from various locations according to the backer’s country.
Any place that is serviced by Amazon or Ingram is eligible to receive a paperback. Any place that is allowed to receive parcels from the UK is eligible to receive a hardcover. Any place that is allowed to receive mail and parcels from Norway is eligible to receive signed books, merchandise, and other physical combos.
EBooks will be delivered via Bookfunnel, through which they can be downloaded. File options are epub and pdf. Bookfunnel gives detailed explanations on how to put the eBooks on your preferred e-reader.
We’re currently finalizing formatting, but including all front and back matter, we’re expecting it to be between 320 and 350 pages. The trim size will be 6x9”.
The art of the cover is done by Tithi Luadthong. The illustration for the naked hardcover is done by one of our authors C. L. Mari. Interior art (like chapter headers/backgrounds and endpapers) are sourced from pexels. Character & story art (included in paperback & hardcover books as well as prints) is done by different artists as commissioned or drawn by the individual authors: - Jaydell (To Become Something Living) - Icarussarts (A Girl Called Adam) - S. Jean (The Blessed Dark) - Marc Aureli Barrufet Bernaus (@Sushiwestern) (Spider In The Web) - Frederick A. Zaberisk (Neural Prison) - Nik Sylvan (Except For The Thorns) - Ash Bronte Roy (No Space For The Dead) and more!
In terms of the standard paperback and hardcover, these will be available wide following release day. If we reach the stretch goal of €2300 we will be offering an extra special edition upgrade to all hardcover backers. If we reach this goal, we plan on offering this special edition made to order directly from our website.
We will be going wide with this anthology. That means, the eBook and paperback can be accessed anywhere you buy books online. The hardcover will be available directly from our website, as that has to be printed and made to order or shipped from existing stock.
An anthology is a collection of short stories and other short-form writing, which can include poetry, flash fiction, and even essays and non-fiction. In our case, PROMETHEUS is a collection of 16 fiction short stories between 2,500 and 12,000 words, within a number of subgenres under the umbrella of queer futuristic horror, written by 16 different authors.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
