Project Update: Update

hello, i'm snow

over the last year and a half there have been a series of emergencies/stressors that ultimately led to the money from these projects going elsewhere. I made the decision to prioritize my family over my job, and what that means is that at this moment I can not finish fulfillment for .dungeon, complete and print Screaming Metal, or print the final print run of Songbirds.

What this means for you is that it will take more time for these to reach you. What it means for me is stepping away from any future projects and away from tabletop games in general to find the means to fulfill my promises to you. I can't give estimates on that time, because the job market and such are out of my control, but I am exploring options.

i believe i've broken your trust and take full responsibility for this. i will be working to rectify this through fulfilling these projects and, yeah. That's the short of it. If that's all you want, i'll post updates on my patreon (that you don't have to pay for or anything) as things progress.

If you want the long version, so maybe you can avoid these situations in the future, here it goes:

-last year i funded a new version of .dungeon with the text complete and layout at 90% completion. All that was left was the completion of stretch goals and the art. This was supposed to be out that summer.

-due to delays, the project continued into this year where my collaborator and I made the tough decision that I would finish the art.

-this decision was made after funding for Screaming Metal was finished. Screaming metal was text-complete, and after a 2 week break, i was to return to my daily work on the project. Due to the .dungeon decision, that didn't end up happening.

-how i've conducted myself over the last seven years has been to plan a year or two in advance, having projects to do and getting them ready in advance in order to market them and such. So, coming into 2026, I had the entire year planned out: screaming metal would fund, and in the interim I would work on non-fiction stuff, like my essays and my youtube, and then in the Summer, I had a project with a collaborator and a larger publisher in the industry.

-this larger project was an opportunity to reach a wider audience and the hope was that it would allow me to eat the costs of the .dungeon delays and continue moving forward.

-that project ended up falling through this summer. all of my other projects were slated for 2027/2028 leaving me the rest of the year with a tough choice.

-i either move something up, rush it, squeeze it into the last of the year and hope that it worked out and didn't just dig the hole deeper.

-or, what I'm doing now, which is admitting that I failed.

which brings me to the present day where I have all of the .dungeons but can't ship them, screaming metal needs finished and printed, and songbirds needs printed.

instead of just trying to get through with something that i haven't even teased or finished, i'm throwing in the towel so to speak.

someone suggested i do a gofundme, but i don't really plan on doing that. this feels like my burden and my responsibility. and i don't really like begging. im an artist. i make my money with my art.

my patreon will stay open. it has thousands and thousands of words of essays, blogs, and game design. i understand if you don't want to support me after this, but it will stay open because i put a lot of work into it.

i've put all of my games into a bundle on itch, so they are on sale forever and always, and all proceeds will go to this endeavor.

i hope you can learn from my mistakes. and that if my work has affected you at all, just know that it means the world to me to have had your support for so long. I've been doing this for seven years. thank you all so much.
