A necromancer has given Benzavur a second chance at life as an undead. In search of a new home with Celeste, a runaway mage in training, as a guide, they aim to challenge their bleak fates together. But that's all up to the roll of the dice.
Weekend at Benny's is a comic based on a homebrew tabletop game that explores the political strife between a necromancy centered nation and their bordering enemies who seek to take each other down. Our two protagonists, Benny the newly-raised undead Drayke, and Celeste, a necromancer hunter in training, are refugees caught up in the middle of the political tension who simply seek to survive and find a home they can live in peace.
It's inspired by stories like Lone Wolf and Cub with found family themes where the protagonists go place to place, solving problems along the way and grow their bond stronger despite the obstacles along their way. We include the dice rolls and different game mechanics that were used to build the story so you can see how things panned out and potentially use it in your own games to tell your own stories!
Issue #3 is where the main antagonist of the story makes their debut and the political nuances of Hulse and Arcton become more apparent. Help us fund the printing and debut of this next Issue!
Benny and Celeste finally have a moment of respite within the nearby Hulsian village. But their rest has been cut short with the unexpected arrival of Gustav Wijsheid, a necromancer hunter who seeks to bring his cousin, Celeste, back to her family. After slaying the Rode Ogen beast in the woods, will Benny be able to survive an encounter with another monster?
You can read Chapter 1 and most of Chapter 2 right now on Tapas, but with your help, I can print physical editions of the comic to sell online and locally. If you enjoy my work and are looking forward to more, follow along and support the printing of the comic so I can make more of the story!
