Hey folks,
Thank you so much for your incredible support! Because of you, Between Thieves is officially funded and moving into production. You'll be getting these updates at least once a month until all rewards are delivered.
Here is where things stand and what to expect next:
1. Pre-Order & Late Pledge Store Is Live If you missed the campaign or want to grab extra copies, the late pledge store is officially open. Please share the link with a fantasy reader you know! I am still offering a special "achievement reward" to all backers if we sell-out of the hardback book boxes.
2. Access Your Free Sampler After you've pledged, the first chapter is free and digitally available in your BackerKit account. To download your copy:
Log in to BackerKit using the email address associated with your pledge.
Click on your picture in the upper right and navigate to "Your Pledges & Surveys" dashboard.
Select the "Your Digital Rewards" section.
Click the download link to read the first chapter of Between Thieves!
3. Schedule & Editor Shout-Out The full manuscript is on track to be edited this November. A massive shout-out to my fantastic editor, Tina Wallace at The Spine & The Spark, who will be working her magic on the story. The timeline for delivery remains the same:
March - Ebook releases to backers.
April - Paperback books are shipped to backers directly from distributors.
May - Hardcover books are shipped to me for signatures, quality check, packaging, etc.
June - Hardcover book boxes are shipped to backers by yours truly.
4. Surveys, Payments, Shipping & Taxes
Surveys will be sent closer to shipping date. This is where you'll answer some questions specific to your pledge level and confirm your shipping address for physical products. You'll be able to add items to your pledge at that time.
Shipping has not been charged yet. To ensure you are charged the most accurate rate possible, shipping fees will be added later once the physical products are manufactured and exact package weights and dimensions are locked in.
Taxes have also not been charged yet. I'm still working out the tax situation for US backers. For all international backers, local VAT, customs fees, and regional import duties remain your responsibility.
Again, I cannot thank you all enough. You have truly changed my stars by supporting this book. There are so many exciting things on the horizon... I can't wait to share them all with you!
We're less than 24 hours away from the campaign ending. I want to tell you all how humbled and blessed I feel for your support. Dipping my toe into indie publishing for the first time has been so much work (and so many emotions), but you made this experience joyful.
Between Thieves is funded. We're so close to the next stretch goal. At the $3,000, the book can become fancier, both ebook and print versions. Not only will I be able to include the beautiful map I shared with you in my last update, but we're talking cool chapter break images and more illustrations.
At the moment I'm writing this, we're $413 under that $3,000 mark, and there's 56 limited edition signed hardback w/goodies boxes left. Remember, I promised if the hardback boxes sell out, I'm going to include something super secret special for all backers. Help me in this final push by sharing with a friend who reads fantasy! As a sneak peek, I'm including a free sample of Between Thieves to all backers and subscribers of my newsletter. Backers at all levels can find it now in their digital rewards. Go to "Your Pledges and Surveys" and then look for the tab that says "Your Digital Rewards." Download from there, and if you have trouble, get in touch with me.
Super exciting things are happening behind the scenes here. First off, WE HIT THE FIRST STRETCH GOAL! I cannot thank you all enough. This means I'll be able to hire an editor to give the book the final polish it deserves.

The next major milestone is hitting the $3,000 mark, where I'll be able to hire a professional layout artist to add flare and style to the ebook and print versions. We're talking fancy typography, some illustrations, and an interior pretty enough to make all your book-friends jealous.

Also: I HAVE A PROMO VIDEO! Check it out on YouTube or by clicking the image at the top of my campaign's page. Animation for this was done by a good friend who owed me a favor, but the voiceover and background music was all me. I am a one-woman show. :)
That's all for now. I can't believe all this is happening. I'm still in shock the campaign funded, that I have a book, that Feni and Raf will finally get the spotlight they deserve.

Exciting news! I will be doing my first livestream ever with some other creators that are part of the Printopia event on BackerKit. Join us Thursday, 2-4pm Eastern. The roundtable is hosted by Laura VanArendonk Baugh on YouTube, and that link will take you right to the stream when it's live. You can also check out the main page of my BackerKit campaign and click on the stream links in the upper right to save it to your Google, Apple, or other calendar.
We are closing in on the first Stretch Goal: $2,000 - Quest for an Editor. This is a huge milestone. It will allow me to hire a freelance editor to put the final polish on the book. Trust me when I say, an editor will make this book better for everyone. We are so close to the goal! Just a few more supporters would be amazing.

Finally, an update on the Side Quest - The Hardback Heist, 30 of the 100 limited edition hardbacks are gone! If the entire 100 sell out, I'll be throwing in a super secret surprise into all the boxes!

I'm a writer, and I have no words for the gift you have given me. This first book has been so long in the making. 15-ish years ago, I sold my first Feni and Raf story. At the time, it was my first paid sale. It's surreal to even be writing this right now.
Somehow, you made this happen on day 1. Not even 12 hours have passed since the campaign launched, and it's funded. Now I'm looking at stretch goals I really didn't think were possible. You are all amazing, and I am so incredibly grateful.
Some of you aren't family or friends; you're complete strangers who think my book sounds cool. My hope is that you'll read it and love it so much that we become friends. Your support means the world to me.
