Our campaign for Sy Barry: The Ghost Who Draws has now come to a close.

Although we didn't reach our funding goal, I want to personally thank every one of you who backed the project, followed the campaign, shared it with others, or simply sent words of encouragement along the way.

Because this was an all-or-nothing campaign, your pledge will not be charged.

67 backers pledged $15,750 toward helping us create this book, and that support means a great deal to me and to my Dad. It has also shown us the tremendous interest in this book and the dedication of those who want to see my Dad's life, artwork and more than 70-year career in comics celebrated and preserved.

Hi everyone,

We’ve added a new $50 Friends of Sy Barry pledge level featuring a specially created commemorative Sy Barry collector coin.

All backers at the $100, $250 and $500 book levels—including those who have already pledged—will receive the new collector coin as well. We want those who supported the project early to share in this new campaign keepsake.

We’re also pleased to share more details about the book itself. David is independently publishing Sy Barry: The Ghost Who Draws with a professional team helping bring the book to life. We now have more concrete details about the book’s physical specifications:

• Approximately 100 pages
 • 9" × 12" hardcover with dust jacket
 • Smyth-sewn binding
 • 157g glossy art paper
 • Professionally offset-printed

Campaign funds go directly toward the professional work required to create and produce the book, including writing and editing, design, artwork and image preparation, licensing, printing, packaging, international freight and fulfillment.

And there is more to come. Sample interior spreads are now being developed so we can soon give you a first look inside the book.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an important update on the production schedule for Sy Barry: The Ghost Who Draws.

As we’ve gotten further into the project and reviewed the full production process with our publisher, we’ve realized that our original February 2027 estimate was too optimistic.

The manuscript is still being completed, and once that work is finished, there are several important stages ahead, including finalizing artwork and licensing, book design, proofing, printing, international freight and fulfillment. Based on the current production schedule, we now expect the book to be in backers’ hands in September 2027.

While this is later than we originally anticipated, our priority is to give the team the time needed to create the book we envisioned and to do justice to my Dad’s life, his artwork and his remarkable career.

I especially want to thank those of you who have already backed the project. Your early support means a great deal to me and my Dad, and to everyone working to bring this book to life.

We’ll continue to share updates as the book moves through each stage of production, and I look forward to showing you more of what we’re creating along the way.
