The Countdown Begins....
Hey folks, I'm so excited! After what feels like endless delays, we're finally coming into the home stretch. The campaign will launch on April 28th! Get ready. If you're excited for this, I need you to pledge EARLY! The main hope for success on Kickstarter is to hit our project goal in the first few hours, that gets the project visibility with other customers and increases the chances of stretch goals and such.
I'm working away right now trying to get all the reward tiers up, and dreaming up stretch goals in my head. If you have something specific you'd like to see, please reach out. I'd love to hear from you.
The follower count is slowly ticking up. Hooray! Tell your friends. :)
The complete rewrite of Volume I, The Fractured Table, is complete. I'm about half-way through an editing pass now to clean up a few of the gremlins that crept in during the rewrite and then it will be ready for a test readers. That said, I don't think there's anyway the project is ready to launch this month, or that I'll be able to do a Legends & Demons set for Christmas this year as originally planned. I feel that the rewrite has done a great deal to streamline the story and make it more accessible to readers (we'll find out soon if I'm right). However, it's also moved the goal posts a bit, and I don't think I'm writing a duology anymore.
The new plan is The Fractured Table - a volume with Hanita (a homeless girl on the run in the near future) as the main character and including journal entries from Paedrig (the priest in the distant past).
Volume II will pickup at the end of The Fractured Table with Dewayne (a delta force sniper from the near future) as the main character. It will contain some flashbacks to give his perspective on a few events from Fractured Table, but will cover his story setting up for A Rising Sense of Dread. I don't have a title for it, and it may be novella length or a full novel. While most of the material is already written, it will take a good bit of editing and streamlining for it to flow together with volume I.
Volume III is going to depend a bit on how much of Paedrig's story I can tell from Dewayne's perspective. It's possible, I'll need a novella to bring readers up to speed on what's been happening with Paedrig before we dive into A Rising Sense of Dread. Or it's possible, that I'll go back to the ensemble cast approach, changing perspectives for the final book. The end will be headlined by Elliot (the SAS Demolitions expert and swordfighter) and Paedrig.
Anyhow, that's the plan. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
The books are coming along nicely. Vol II. A Rising Sense of Dread is ready for Alpha readers, and the Beta read on The Fractured Table has yielded some really helpful results. However, those results indicate some of the changes needed or more significant that I expected.
Also, I've not done well so far at building any follower momentum on the socials. I'm not giving up. I believe in these books. I know there are lots of people out there who will love them. I just have some rewrites to do, and need to be more consistent in my online strategy.
For the time being, ignore the start dates on this. I'll make an announcement when we've got an actual date for the Kickstarter. :)
