The Gauntlet (and Jason) is a fantastic place for fantastic games - no one can ever dispute that, and I feel like everyone who talks with Jason can see what a likeable fellow he is. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people are unhappy with the communication style employed by the campaign, and I do think this needs to be seriously considered and taken on board as legitimate feedback and not hostile or whingey complainers asking for too much. The communication (or lack thereof) is a real issue that will plague the reputation and growth of Gauntlet going forwards. If PA experiences anything like the lack of communication and missed deadlines, I am almost certain that with over double the backers and a broader appeal than the Between, it's backer base is going to be far more vocal and upset than the Between's. A timeline of communication and timeframes: Sep 2024 - Digital by end of April 2025, Physical by end of November 2025 Oct 2024 - updates will be monthly (the audience did not invent their expectation on this front) Dec 2024 - Core book ready for layout by end of year. Shadow Society draft by end of Jan. Suns mid to late Feb, probably. Jan 2025 - Still on track for delivery goals, will let you know if that changes March 2025 - missed Feb update. Deep dive into design. Revised timeline: Core book by April, other two to follow shortly thereafter, maybe mid summer. Confident physical books out by December. April 2025 - update on the trade war, this will have a large impact on physical production June 2025 - update on trade war, again, large impacts on physical production and shipping. Revised timeline: late August for Core and maybe Shadow Society. September for Suns. Physical now late Feb early March 2026 Sept 2025 - Core book pdf delivered. Shadow Society by end of October Nov 2025 - After surveys go out, I'll do a more comprehensive update with Revised timeline. Apologies for going quiet, everything is back on track, it was never off track (this fundamentally just isn't true). Nov 2025 - Between available to pre order, as are the London at Night cards. Revised timeline: Shadow Society pdf in Jan. Suns PDF in Feb. Shipping in May. Feb 2025 - announcing Between companion app, and that since Quinns Quest reviewed PA, it would now come to Kickstarter March 17. In the comments Harald says Jason will send out a proper update very soon. This is still the final update for The Between. I provide this timeline not to be cruel or to say "look at how delayed this is." Delays are fine. Delays are unavoidable. Wanting to work on and perfect a book is admirable. The lack of communication is entireable avoidable, and has gotten worse over time. Jason commented on the discord recently that his estimate for physical was now August/September. I just can't, without having seen any indication of the state Suns is in, believe this could be possible, given we are almost in June. I know it sucks to fall behind, most of us are adults and have done the same. Most of us are reasonable and understand this. Avoiding addressing it does not improve the situation though, and just makes things worse the longer it goes on. I'd strongly encourage the team to revise their thoughts on communication, and commit to monthly updates on the Between and PA, even if they are not substantial or announcing a delay.
