Project Update: Update #9: February(ish) 2026 Progress Update
Greetings y’all!
My apologies for the late update – February snuck in and out like a thief in the night. But we’re here now, so let’s get to it! I’ve got a number of positive updates to go through:
- The first round of developmental editing by Josh has been completed on No Gods, No Masters. I’m currently working on updates to the manuscript based on his feedback, then that’ll get plugged into layout before going back to him for a final editing pass. This is a change from my original plan to get all edits complete prior to layout, but I want to make sure everything fits and trim back language as needed since I know the max space I have to work with.
- A new round of art for both No Gods, No Masters has come through from Bryce, and it looks (unsurprisingly) phenomenal. Just look at this guy:
- Possibly the most exciting news is that all of the patches have arrived on my doorstep. I’m currently QC’ing every one of these so I can take any issues back to my manufacturer. After that, it’s gonna be a long week of bagging and tagging over a thousand of these suckers. Take a look:
- The OST is progressing nicely. Joseph (Snakes of Russia) is planning on getting the final OST out to me by 01Apr26, so I’ll keep y’all posted on that as well!
Progress on Sphere of Influence is slower than I would like, but I’m happy to report that I finally cracked the adventure, tentatively titled “To Breathe or Not to Breathe”, which was my major roadblock. I’ve updated the timelines accordingly since this has been delayed a bit. As part of the art delivered by Bryce, he put together an updated version of the cover for Sphere of Influence. I think it’s a big improvement – check out the final version below:
Timeline updates:
- March ’26:
- No Gods, No Masters manuscript in post-editing updates.
- Updated manuscript to be plugged into layout.
- Pre-print version in layout sent off for final editing pass.
- Manuscript writing on Sphere of Influence continues – targeted for completion by month’s end.
- Manuscript of Sphere of Influence off to developmental editing.
- No Gods, No Masters manuscript in post-editing updates.
- April ’26:
- OST targeted for finalization.
- Final edit of No Gods, No Masters returned to me for final revisions and proofreading.
- Print-ready version to be prepped once final revisions and proofreading pass are complete.
- Final edit of Sphere of Influence returned to me for final revisions and proofreading.
- Print-ready version to be prepped once final revisions and proofreading pass are complete.
- May ’26:
- Print-ready versions of No Gods, No Masters and Sphere of Influence sent to printer.
- Pre-production review copies anticipated; expect a maximum of 2 passes necessary.
- Print-friendly versions of No Gods, No Masters and Sphere of Influence to be prepared.
- Hyper-linked PDFs of No Gods, No Masters and Sphere of Influence to be prepared.
- Print-ready versions of No Gods, No Masters and Sphere of Influence sent to printer.
That’s it for my updates, but while I’ve got your attention I wanted to plug a few cool things going on:
- Snakes of Russia put out a new album, Swallowed Whole Through the Mouth of Eternity! It’s damn good and I recommend you give it a listen: Swallowed Whole Through the Mouth of Eternity
- Suffety Games, who put together STAND/Deliver as part of MM’25, has a new TTRPG on Kickstarter called Tales from the Tapedeck. It’s a music-focused RPG that fits in a cassette and sounds like an absolute blast. Give it a look: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/suffetygames/tales-from-the-tape-deck?ref=user_menu
- There’s a solo TTRPG up on Kickstarted called Residue that I’m very excited about. The pitch is that it’s Mothership-esque and has that beautiful B&W. I’m fascinated by solo RPGs and this looks like a special one: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/weirdplace/residue-rpg?ref=user_menu
That’s it for now, and I’ll try to get back with an update before the end of the month so I can get myself back on schedule. Until then, stay safe, y’all.
Best,
Nate (ThereWolf! Games)
PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Update #9: January 2026 Progress Update
Greetings, y’all!
A relatively brief update here, but happy to say it’s all positive news:
- Joseph (Snakes of Russia) has begun work on the OST. I’ve gotten WIP versions of 5 tracks so far, and I am pleased to say that each one whips. It is exactly the soundscape I imagined for this adventure and I’ll have some previews up in a future update.
- The manuscript of No Gods, No Masters is with Josh for editing. He’s currently wrapping up some work on the Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition, so I’m expecting feedback from him sometime next week.
- I’m midway through playtesting No Gods, No Masters. I actually expected to finish by now, but there have been some delays due to the Philadelphia Area Gaming Expo, a stomach bug that wiped me out for a couple days, and just general timing issues. Happy to report that so far it works as intended! I have a number of ideas for how to improve the module already, including actually navigating the damn building, so I’m going to plug those in once I finish out playtesting and get Josh’s edits back.
- Bryce has been working on some new art for No Gods, No Masters and Sphere of Influence. The early sketches are cool as hell, and the updated cover for Sphere of Influence is looking very good. I’ll share more once it’s a little further along.
- Millie sent me over some revised patch designs. I had requested these because, after a bit of thought and digging around, the original versions held a lot of minute details that I was afraid would be lost in the production of the patches. The new designs have changed very little with the exception of removing some of the fiddly details so that the overall images translate better to physical patches.
All of the January ’26 targets were hit with the exception of manuscript writing on Sphere of Influence. That has lagged behind a bit, but I’m planning on catching up over the next week or two while No Gods, No Masters is in first-pass editing. So far, the timelines from the previous update remain the same!
On an unrelated note, I want to acknowledge how rough things are just…everywhere right now. My heart goes out to everyone in Minneapolis and I’m keeping my eyes peeled for further marches in my area. If there’s anything y’all can contribute to the causes highlighted in the TKG Discord or elsewhere, I hope you do so. And to any of you that are in Minneapolis right now – stay strong. We’re all with you.
Best,
Nate (ThereWolf! Games)
PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Update #8: December 2025 Progress Update
Greetings y’all!
As we come to the end of 2025, I wanted to provide an update on how the project is progressing and where things stand in terms of timelines. Writing on No Gods, No Masters continues apace — the principal challenges have been the inclusion of 4 additional tower levels and the expansions to the NPC generator table. Ensuring that the additional levels are both interesting and not redundant with those that already exist has been my primary goal in the writing process, and I’m pretty happy with where they currently stand! I’ve also had to rework the original system by which level rolls are made when building out the tower.
My original conception had been that runs up the tower would be brief, 2 to 3 sessions at maximum. The mechanic is simple — roll 1d10 and add the current Height (e.g. the number of levels climbed by the players) to determine the next level, organically pushing the players higher in the tower while preventing end-stage levels from being rolled at the start. Adding levels to the level pool naturally creates the possibility that runs will be longer than envisioned. Originally, these were averaging around 10 to 12 levels in total — now it’s closer to 13 to 15. I don’t ultimately think that’s a bad thing, but it does run the risk of diluting tension by spreading the adventure across too many sessions. I might revisit the level-rolling mechanic after editing to ensure that it remains punchy in the way I intended.
I will finally (FINALLY) be running the first playtest of the module this week. A lingering sinus infection and holiday schedules precluded me from being able to get to playtesting until this point, but it’s also offered me the opportunity to rethink some of the component pieces of the module, so it’s not all bad.
Overall, I’m a couple of weeks behind where I had wanted to be, but not enough to impact any of my original projections. Here’s where things currently stand:
- January ’26:
- Playtest of No Gods, No Masters.
- Manuscript of No Gods, No Masters off to developmental editing.
- Snakes of Russia begins work on OST.
- Manuscript writing of Sphere of Influence targeted for completion by month’s end.
- February ’26:
- Edited manuscript of No Gods, No Masters returned to me for revision. Revised version will be applied to layout.
- Playtest of Sphere of Influence.
- Manuscript of Sphere of Influence off to developmental editing.
- March ’26:
- Revised, pre-print version of No Gods, No Masters off for final editing pass.
- Edited manuscript of Sphere of Influence returned to me for revision. Revised version will be applied to layout.
- OST targeted for finalization.
- April ’26:
- Final edit of No Gods, No Masters returned to me for final revisions and proofreading. Revision version will be applied to layout for press-ready version.
- Final edit of Sphere of Influence will go to proofreading. Any final revisions will be applied to layout for press-ready version.
In other news, TKG has notified those of us who participated in Mothership Month ’25 that the mega pledge manager has been assembled by Backerkit. TKG is still compiling information around various rewards for each of the projects, but hopefully the pledge manager will go live shortly into the new year, including the option for late pledges. Once that goes live, I’ll update everyone here.
For now, I’m wishing all of you a happy and safe new year. See you in 2026!
Best,
Nate (ThereWolf! Games)

Project Update: Update #7: Now the Work Begins
Greetings y'all!
Well, we did it - the campaign is complete and was more successful than I could have imagined. I've said it before and will say it again, but thank you to everyone who is supporting this project. It means worlds to me.
The title is a bit cheeky as, honestly, the work never ceased, and because so many of you decided you want this thing I now have more work than I did at the start of this whole crazy project. Fortunately, I'm looking forward to it. I've got a new artist supporting on Sphere of Influence alongside Brayz and I'm excited to get into the nitty gritty of that down the line.
For now, I'll be limiting communications to monthly updates so as to not overcrowd your inboxes. The rough timeline of the project as it currently stands is as follows:

For now, I'll be limiting communications to monthly updates so as to not overcrowd your inboxes. The rough timeline of the project as it currently stands is as follows:
- November25: Initial draft development of No Gods, No Masters and (hopefully) initial playtest
- December25: First developmental editing pass on NGNM and initial draft development on Sphere of Influence. Initial art development on SOI and musical development on NGNM begins.
- January26: Integrating edits from first DE pass on NGNM and continuing draft development on SOI
- February26: First developmental editing pass on SOI and, as necessary, additional playtesting on NGNM
- March26: Second developmental editing pass on NGNM and integrating edits from first DE pass on SOI
- April26: Finalize edits on NGNM and, as needed, secondary developmental editing pass on SOI
- May26: Finalize edits on SOI and begin preparing files for printing
There will likely be some flexibility in any given month as things move around and art comes in, but that is my current plan.
Thanks again and keep your eyes peeled for more.
With gratitude,
Nate Taylor (ThereWolf! Games)

Project Update: Update #6: 48-Hour Warning!
Greetings y’all!
There are now just over 48 hours left to Mothership Month 2025, which means you’ve got a two days and change for the chance to back No Gods, No Masters! This month has positively flown by and the response has been overwhelmingly positive so far, more than I possibly could have anticipated, and I owe that all to you. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it — thank you. A million times, thank you all for putting your faith in this project!
We’ve smashed every single stretch goal on the project, so now is a phenomenal time to back. If you’re backing at the physical level, you even get a whole other physical zine, Sphere of Influence! And if you’re backing at a digital level, hey, you still get a digital copy of Sphere of Influence, so it’s a great deal either way.
Thanks for joining me on this journey so far. With your help, I know we can finish as strong as we started!
Also, if you've got any blog posts around Mothership, Over/Under, or the Panic Engine in general, be sure to add that to the blog tracker for Mothership Month '25 to unlock some more cool stuff in the community Supply Drop! And if you haven't, take a look around at the other projects going on for MM'25. There are some absolute bangers this year, including Sunlit Path, Grim Merchants, The Company's New Groove, and Hunters. Each one is 100% worth getting eyes on.
That's all for now, and I'll talk to you all once we've crossed the finish line.
With gratitude,
Nate Taylor (ThereWolf! Games)
