Hey TKG, Excited about this new project, but a little concerned about Mothership's future. Truth is, I'm a bit skeptical about the shift to large books for Mothership. I think a big part of Mothership's success is its bite-sized (yet juicy) zines. They're compact, dense, and easy to digest. You can toss one in a bag along with the rules and be all set. And I feel for creators, zines become a sorta self-imposed challenge that forces them to be economical with their words and forces them to be creative in their use of space. Which is precisely what makes Mothership's zines so fascinating to look through! They're small but incredibly rich with inspiration! I know you might try to apply these sensibilities to a large 200 page book, but a book of that size is another beast. Yes that's a lot of content, but maybe that's not a good thing. These days the idea of a large RPG book filled with information feels overwhelming to me. They're all over the place, from one publisher to the next. Which is what makes Mothership's zines so refreshing, and in turn, makes them stand out among the fray. So all that to say: I’d love to see a continued focus on zines. If not — as middle ground— smaller books? Like Troika in size and length? Honestly maybe this is just me. Maybe I'm reading the room wrong. If anyone wants to chime in, please do.
