Project Update: What You'll Find in Paradise
Greetings!
Earlier this week we announced a truly spectacular free item when you back the project in the first 48 hours- a printed map pack of 5 different maps. Time slips by so we highly suggest you follow the project now so you get an alert when we launch! If you already have- thank you! Today we continue our walking tour of the ghost city of Eidolon. Today, we soak in the sights of Paradise.
Eidolon is bleak stone beneath a sunless sky, but there is one place where you can always find beauty: PARADISE. Here ivy covers the old walls and the scent of flowers mingles with the fine food being prepared in elegant restaurants. Trees are scattered around the district, from individual sentinels in tiny alcoves to the vast Duskwood, a grand park where the ancients and their partisans preen and promenade. Masque Row holds many venues for entertainment. Take in an opera at the Drakalov Requiem, savoring the sounds of the eternal chorus. Enjoy a meal at the Harp, where the spectral fingers of the legendary Avalara pluck the strings of the eponymous instrument. The Garden of House Drakalov is walled off, but if you have the gold you can relax at the Wellspring spa, where Drakalov partisans will tend to your every need.
These fine entertainments are truly marvelous, but none of them come cheap. While they are crusted with moss and ivy, the Hollow Soldiers of House Drakalov are merciless steel guardians ready to drive undesirables from the district. Yet there is a place in Paradise even for those who can’t afford a night on Mask Row. The Faeward runs along the edge of the Dirge. When the city was first built, this housed the retinue of the Queen of Broken Mirrors, and it has remained a cultural nexus for the fey-folk of Eidolon ever since. Here you can find elves, faeries, goblins, and others who can trace their roots to the Twilight Realm. While Elves may call it home, the magical mysteries of the Faeward are open to all. The Dryad’s Rest always has enchanting entertainment, and the Pavilions—seen in the image above—hold wild revels every two weeks. With that said, many people believe that the Faeward holds dangers for common mortals; the upstanding orderborne folk of the Forge shun the Faeward and its revels.
How is it that the trees of Paradise flourish in poor soil with no sun? In the days when Eidolon was solely a cemetery, people came from around the world to die near the Harrowgate. The Tulamor practiced primal traditions drawing on the powers of the natural world. Every tree in Paradise was once a Tulamor champion. As a druid in Eidolon you may be drawing on the memories of these elders; when you assume the form of a beast, you could be channeling the spirit of an animal guardian buried with its Tulamor companion.
Take a moment to soak in the sights of Paradise. The tour will continue soon!
