Darkest Dungeon logo, with a flaming torch emblem and red gothic lettering. Below it: "The Original Canon Graphic Novel." The standard edition hardcover shows a group of grim, armored adventurers in red and purple tones. Next to it is a black limited Deluxe edition with the same artwork embossed and an orange torch emblem in the center. Text beside the books reads: "Experience an original canon graphic novel tale in standard or limited Deluxe editions!" A red banner reads: "Glory and honor to that ragged band, whose triumph healed the world. But the light of redemption casts deep, jagged shadows..." "The gothic roguelike RPG Darkest Dungeon plunged us into the depths, scouring and testing our will to fight against the darkness. Its sequel, Darkest Dungeon II, challenged us once again, brandishing delicate hope in the face of unspeakable horrors." Two sample interior pages show violent, red-lit combat. A rider on a dark horse is struck down, and a hooded, scarf-wrapped hero walks through a ruined graveyard. "Now, from the combined madness of Red Hook Studios and Vault Comics comes a brand new canon graphic novel in the Darkest Dungeon universe, set just after the events of the second installment." "From horror enthusiasts to long-time fans of the games, expect to be treated to graphic novel storytelling at its best—a new adventure, unrelenting in the face of unending darkness. Join our ensemble of rough but unbroken heroes as they descend once more into the unknown." A final red banner reads: "And from that tenebrous prison, a new malignity whispers to the covetous, scratching its broken nails against the thrumming stone... ...of the Darkest Dungeon."

Header: "The Story," in red gothic lettering on a weathered teal panel. Illustration: A brooding hero stands in a graveyard surrounded by bare, twisted trees under a glowing red-orange sky. He wears a long black coat with a fur collar and a heavy buckled belt, and a crimson scarf covers the lower half of his face. Dark leaves and embers swirl around him. "The world, such as it is, narrowly avoided corruption and ruin thanks to the sacrifices of a band of heroes. But when a familiar threat reawakens, these troubled adventurers must come together once more to prevent an unspeakable evil from being unleashed on the world. Having each found new purpose, even happiness, is it folly for our heroes to cast peace aside in hopes of settling old grudges? Or would any peace be hollow in a world where an enemy who wronged them still roams and threatens to spread fresh wickedness?"

About the team

John Lees is an award-winning writer from Glasgow, Scotland. He is best known for his work on folk horror mystery And Then Emily Was Gone, with artist Iain Laurie, coming-of-age horror comedy The Nasty featuring artist Adam Cahoon, and hard-boiled Glasgow crime saga Sink, drawn by Alex Cormack.

John’s other credits include Hotell, The Crimson Cage, The Standard, Grawlgore & Shanks, Mountainhead, and a story for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe. His most recent release was Orla!, a romcom/creature feature mash-up, working with artist Sally Cantirino.

Maan House is an Uruguayan comic book artist and illustrator specializing in horror and dark fantasy. He has collaborated with several premier publishers, lending his art to cult franchises and acclaimed titles such as Dark Souls: The Willow King, Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning, 30 Days of Night, The Cemeterians, Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft. His work has also earned him a Ringo Award nomination for Best Cover Artist.

Chris Bourassa is the Creative/Art Director and Co-Founder of Red Hook Studios where he works on the Darkest Dungeon game series. Chris' children do not care that he has spoken about art, entrepreneurship and character design the world over. Nor do they properly appreciate that he has been a professional art director and concept artist for 25 years, and often times has to take out the recycling even though it's not his job. He loves all things dark and macabre, gunpla, boxing, and Batman. His favourite game is Thief 2.
