I feel like I came to DCC very late - I only started reading it (well, listening to the dulcet tones of one Jeff Hays) back in February of this year. I was peripherally aware of it well before then, but I always brushed it off saying to myself, "LitRPG is not for me." That has remained largely true, with the exception of DCC, which I have now listened to all 7 books 7 times now and read the kindle editions once. I have managed to get several other people to read the series as well and they have devoured it just as ravenously. No one who has gotten through book 1 hasn't fallen under its spell. I am an avid reader, I majored in English Lit. I have many books I have read more than once in my life. I have NEVER listened to a series 7 times in a single year and read it once. I feel like there is something special about this series and I wish I could put my finger on what it is. If you have any idea, please please please let me know!
