It's another fine day! Here is your monthly update on The Big Squeeze development. The short story is that everything is within regular development timelines, so you won't see any surprises here:
Project Progress Update
✅ Game Design: Finished!
✅ Writing: All printed writing is complete as well. We are still creating the digital FAQ and appendix/resource page, but naturally, this will be an ongoing process as it will be populated based on your own responses once you get the game yourself.
✅ Pledge Manager: Pledge managers are locked and cards have been charged. Note you can still change your address until shipping time next year. We'll discuss how once that time comes up.
✅ Graphic Design: Finished!
✅ File Submission and Verification: Finished! This was the part where we officially locked down all game design, uploaded files and had our manufacturer approve them for colouring, bleed, margin, legibility, sizing, etc.
➡️Preproduction Copies: Next step after quote finalization is getting a preproductioncopy made.
First, we receive digital proofs of the game where we'll look over all of the files and really make sure there are no typos, missing files, low-resolution graphics or other mishaps.
Once approved, Panda will build a single preproduction game and mail it to us. The preproduction copy is designed to look and feel as close as possible to the actual final product.
Once we receive it, our job is to thoroughly investigate every part and make sure it all feels & plays correctly.
This time period can vary depending on how satisfied we are with how components look in practice (is the ingredient tray large enough? Do the tokens feel right? Do the Upgrade Boards assemble properly?).
Either everything is great and we sail through immediately, or something doesn't feel right and we need to fix it. By next month we'll have an update either way on how the PPC review went!
⏩ Manufacturing: This begins once we approve the PPC.
⏩ Shipping: We've already lined up our shipping plan, so the shipping stage will be a matter of execution once manufacturing is complete.
Hello Brewers: This is a reminder that the Pledge Manager for The Big Squeeze will lock on August 11 2026. After this date, you won't be able to change your pledge level or item/add-on selections. We will also charge your credit cards around this time for shipping & add-ons.
You will not receive a game unless you give us your shipping address. The Pledge Manager is your way to submit that information, so make sure to complete it before the deadline. We cannot guarantee fulfillment for late orders! (Though we do issue refunds if we can't fulfill yours.)
If you anticipate that you may be moving soon, no worries! You can still update your shipping info until we lock addresses, which will be early next year.
For those of you who've already submitted your surveys, thank you! We're looking forward to you getting a chance to play.
If you haven't received any Pledge Manager emails, message [email protected] and we'll help you get it sorted out. Note that if you have an Apple ID relay mask, those privacy protections block Pledge Manager emails from getting to you. You will have received a message from us if that is the case.
Project Progress Update
✅ Bill of Materials: Our manufacturer knows our specifications and is gearing up for pre-production copies (PPCs). Remaining details are part of File Completion & Manufacturing.
✅ Game Design: Game design remains ship-ready. Since last update, we've had time to implement a "Beginner mode" for groups with high experience gaps between players.
✅ Writing: We've completed a full round of copy editing for all components. An example change is that cards that used to say "Stash [lemon]" now say "Stash 1 of your [lemon]" for improved clarity. We're always triple-checking and repolishing as we go, but we're comfortable declaring it ship-ready.
✅ Gen Gon: It was great playing The Big Squeeze with so many of you at Gen Con! These games helped solidify some of our final copy-editing changes, so thank you for joining. If you're one of the groups who late pledged after demoing at Gen Con, welcome to the party!
➡️ Pledge Manager: This is where you come in. Fill your survey by August 11!
➡️ Graphic Design: Graphic design is ongoing for things like the block of legal text on the back of the box, UV print design for Cosmic Ingredients, and other final pieces.
➡️ File Completion and Manufacturing: Our real deadline for keeping on our projected timeline is September, but we're still aiming to be earlier to give us extra wiggle room in case something unanticipated comes up.
⏩ Manufacturing and Shipping: This stage is largely out of our hands. It'll be our partners building the game and shipping them out to depots around the world. The part we can control, however, is sending consistent updates so you know where we are in the process.
Name Submission Deadline, Gen Con, Project Progress
Hello Brewers, It's another fine day! Things are moving along well with The Big Squeeze. Below is a full list of our project timeline, but I'd like to highlight one thing first:
If you pledged for the Small Batch Collector's Edition, the name deadline of July 28th is coming up!
Now let's go over the rest:
Timeline
✅ Bill of Materials: We've submitted our component specifications to Panda, our manufacturer. This will let us pick order quantities and ensure that Panda is ready to configure the machines that'll assemble the game as soon as we submit files.
✅ Game Design: Game design is ship-ready, including the stretch goal characters and mini-expansion. For our process, we always continue testing even after it's ship-ready just in case — but we're happy with the game, and don't have anything remaining to design.
⏸️ Writing: We're almost complete editing: we've gone through components, rulebook, box text, etc for the first round of copy editing. After feedback from the community and team, we'll make final adjustments and lock in.
➡️ Graphic Design: Graphic design is complete for almost everything except the box sleeve, rulebook, batch code and legal elements like the little CE thing that shows up on the back of the box.
➡️ Pledge Manager: Concurrently with game completion, we've been collecting shipping info and names so we can enter manufacturing as soon as possible after Gen Con.
🎲 Gen Gon: Speaking of which: I will be at Gen Con next week running demos of the prototype version of The Big Squeeze. Come find me at the Outset Media booth and say hi! This does mean email replies will be slightly slower than normal, but we will still be checking our inboxes.
⏩ File Completion and Manufacturing: In order to fulfill by our projected timeline, our file completion & manufacturing cutoff is start of September. That being said, we're aiming to be zippy with an early-August submission time so we can enter manufacturing with plenty of buffer.
⏩ Manufacturing and Shipping: This stage is largely out of our hands. It'll be our partners building the game and shipping them out to depots around the world. The part we can control, however, is sending consistent updates so you know where we are in the process.
Rulebook Update
Our character stories have been condensed into shorter versions, but if you'd like to finally get a glimpse into Midas and Jack's lives, you can find them in our latest pages added to the rulebook! This is not the final version, but it's fairly close to our intention — the next steps are copy editing, and then section layout polishing once we know exactly how much text will be in each section of the book.
That's all for now. Our next update will be post-Gen Con as Pledge Manager surveys lock in. Talk to you then!
Submit Your Names! Pledge Manager Coming This Week
Hello, Brewers!
Starting today, our Pledge Manager will officially begin the sending process. This means you'll soon receive an email from BackerKit where you'll put in your address, adjust your pledge/add-ons, pay shipping, and submit your name if you'd like.
What is this for?
You will not receive your game unless you complete the Pledge Manager.
This is how you'll provide your address and phone number for shipping purposes.
If you're planning to move in the near future, don't worry: you can change your address right up until we ship.
We will be offering a local pickup option in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, right in between London ON and Toronto. If you'd like to save on shipping costs and say hi, choose "Local Pickup" as your country. Details on local pickup will be finalized later.
The Pledge Manager gives you a chance to add more copies of the game and other add-ons. You can also change your base pledge level if you'd like.
You'll enter your credit card information here to pay for shipping, taxes and add-ons/upgrades.
We will not be charging cards until we lock down the surveys in August.
When will I get the survey?
You'll receive it this week from [email protected]. Check your spam folder if you don't see it!
If you haven't received an email by the end of this week, or if you have further questions about how the Pledge Manager works, send us an email at [email protected].
What is the name submission part?
We'd like to thank you for supporting us on BackerKit, so all of you have the option to submit your name to be immortalized!
By default, you're invited to have your name shown on our digital rules file. This is regardless of your pledge tier and when you pledged, so even backer #1631 can join.
For the first ~500 backers for the Small Batch Collector's Edition, your name will also be on the box sleeve as promised.
We can guarantee at least 500 names for the back of box sleeve, but we're aiming to fit as many as possible. So even if you're name #550 or #600 or so, you may still make it in!
The deadline for submitting your name for the box sleeve is July 28, 2026.
More details about names can be found in the Pledge Manager, including what to do if you'd like to 'pass it on' instead.
How long do I have to finish this?
If you want to submit your name, complete your survey by July 28, 2026.
You can adjust your order until August 11, 2026.That's when we'll charge cards and enter manufacturing.
If you miss this deadline, we might not be able to fulfill your order.
How does my Returning Backer / Early Follower bonus work?
It'll be automatically applied, so you don't need to do anything! Look for the "Complimentary Credit" line in checkout.
If you don't have it, email us at [email protected] and we'll cross-reference you with our email lists.
Thank you again for your support, and talk to you soon! AC Atienza Wiggles 3D
Post-Campaign: Progress, Playtesting, and Late Pledges on Kickstarter
Hello Brewers,
Hope you've had a great start to the summer, and welcome to our first post-campaign update for The Big Squeeze!
First of all, thanks again for helping to bring this game to life. Since the campaign, we've moved into the next stage of development and file prep for the factory. While polishing visuals and finalizing component counts, we've also been playtesting to finish balancing for the base game, Stretch Goal characters and Constellation cards.
Want to be a part of playtesting? Come join our Discord and keep an eye out for playtest announcements! We generally test on Thursdays, but you can also join just to keep up with Patch Notes.
Late Pledges Planned for Kickstarter
We've gotten some requests about late pledges, and we have good news: We'll be launching a Last Call campaign for late pledges on Kickstarter next week!
That's right, the Last Call will be on Kickstarter! This is to broaden our reach across platforms and ensure that everyone who had been waiting for us on Kickstarter gets a chance to back this game too.
If you've already pledged on BackerKit, you don't need to do anything. Your pledge is safe, and you're not missing out on any deals or exclusives. The Kickstarter campaign has the same offer, rewards, pricing and content as the BackerKit campaign. (Though Kickstarter requires us to punch in numbers in CAD instead of USD, so you may see very minor price fluctuations).
We're just giving a heads up so that when you see The Big Squeeze on Kickstarter, you'll know what's going on.
And if you're following but haven't pledged yet, you're not too late! You can follow the Kickstarter phase here: LINK
Progress Pics
Our artist Cam made a minor update to Billy's character, with the new version on the right. Can you spot what changed?
We've been tuning some base game effects such as Recipes and Bounty cards as well, especially to fit in with our new Stretch Goal friends! Some changes are bigger than others. Here's an example of one seemingly minor change that actually unlocks some new combo opportunities... And how about our Stretch Goal friends? Tori is design-complete and in final balancing. Her ability lets you Twist one of your lemonade cards in order to take your action at full upgrade power... but Twisted lemonades lose all abilities, so be sure you're willing to make that sacrifice!
Mike is finishing refinement. His ability lets you stash a recipe to use its ability for free, though you don't get to control which one comes your way! Playtesters initially reported analysis paralysis with his toolkit, so we streamlined his abilities. Now it's just a matter of tuning his power level to match the others.
Join a playtest if you'd like to have a hand in the remaining balance tweaks!
Coming Next
We're sending out the Pledge Manager in just a few weeks. This is where you'll be able to finalize your pledge details, add anything you missed, and submit the name you'd like for the Rindfall Registry (and back of Box Sleeve, if eligible).
Thanks again for your support. We're excited to continue moving forward, and we'll talk again soon!
The Big Squeeze is Funded! Here's What Comes Next...
Hello Brewers!
Our launch campaign on BackerKit is officially coming to a close. Whether you've been with us for years, months or minutes: thank you for joining, and for bringing this game to life!
What We've Done This Campaign
First off, we funded The Big Squeeze campaign!
We unlocked Tori, the Pine Lane Legend as a permanent addition to the game
We officially named Pumpkin, Dinah's Cat
We chose the Constellations to be included in the Launch and Collector's Edition mini-expansion
We unlocked the final stretch goal: Mike, the Prophet added to all copies of The Big Squeeze
We unlocked highlights for 6 characters: Evelyn, Dinah, Tori, Billy, Carol, and Mike
It's been a great time watching it all unfold with you over these last few weeks, and I'm already looking forward to the next steps of this project. For a refresher on what that entails...
Our Next Steps
Most of this happens concurrently rather than sequentially.
Final Playtesting to harmonize and polish the stretch goal characters, mini-expansion, and base game
Final UI and UX, where we'll do things like label "In Stock / Sold", update rules wording, and make file layouts
The Pledge Manager will collect your name and shipping info, and it'll let you review your order in case you want to update your pledge or add-ons before it's locked in. This is when the W3D Insider bonus applies. Don't panic when you don't see it right now, it's coming!
Print Preparation where we upload final files to Panda, our manufacturer for this game
Updating our Factory Quote so we can officially pay Panda and start production
Until you receive your game, you can expect consistent updates on our progress, even if it's simply "Nothing is wrong, manufacturing still moving as planned".
Your Next Steps
Get yourself some lemonade and feel proud for your part in shaping this game and making it real!
Once we send the Pledge Manager, be sure to complete it so we can actually ship your game to you.

You did it! Your collective efforts have permanently unlocked both stretch goals. This means Mike Apollo, The Prophet has been added to ALL copies of The Big Squeeze going forward. Congratulations!
If you'd like to join playtesting for The Prophet, join our Discord where we will soon begin hosting games of The Big Squeeze on Tabletopia after the campaign.
Thank you for your support in getting us here! Now, we can finally share who you've unlocked...
Character Highlight: Mike Apollo
Mike has dealt with his fair share of lemons in life. Last year, he launched a new segment on his radio station where he played 'suspicious waveforms' on-air to predict the future. For some reason, his listener count has plummeted since then. But even worse, each waveform predicted the same thing: an apocalypse, a huge... crushing of society... was coming soon. Mike had to save anyone who would listen.
Mike became a radio host as an excuse for owning so much audio gear.
Unfortunately, his radio station no longer had enough listeners to spread the word, so Mike had to take to the streets for the first time in years. Taking notes from his previous radio sponsors, he decided on just one simple phrase that he'd use to warn Rinddale. He put his slogan on posters, handed it out in flyers, and shouted it from crates in town square.
Mike was surprised at the positive reception: the townsfolk were thankful to be reminded, and soon it was spreading all over town. It wasn't until the Mayor approached, asking Mike if he'd participate in the festival himself, that Mike realized his slogan about "preparing for the giant crushing of society" had been misinterpreted.
"SAVE UP FOR THE BIG SQUEEZE!"
Whoops. So, seeing one last chance to warn the town, Mike indeed entered The Big Squeeze (festival) as a contestant. And if he's correct about this apocalypse, it'd be a good opportunity for him to save up for The Big Squeeze (apocalypse) himself.
Mike can predict the future. Play as him to borrow abilities from lemonades you haven't even made yet! In exchange, you'll want to fulfill your own prophecies to unlock new ones. You'll know things are going well when you start taking actions off the board to "visit yourself" instead...
While The Big Squeeze is all about making lemonade from whatever life gives you, Mike is designed for players who like having a specific mini-quest to aim for, and especially if they like trying characters that feel weirder than normal.
Stretch Goals Complete!
With that stretch goal, The Big Squeeze officially has all content fully unlocked. Thank you for being a part of this community, and welcome! We're glad to have you all here just in time for the final hours of this campaign.
Today we'll peek at new Constellation art, highlight your chosen character, and vote on the FINAL Lemonade Stand-Off. Let's get started!
Freshly Squeezed Constellation Art
Cam has already begun finishing art for the Constellations you've chosen, and it looks sweet. Take a look:
Stay tuned next week for more pictures, and a written interview with Cam about his art style and illustrations for The Big Squeeze!
Character Highlight: Billy
Billy won the last Lemonade Stand-Off with a super-narrow 51% of votes, which really shows how much each vote matters. Congratulations to all who voted for Billy!
Billy has already dealt with his share of lemons in life. When he took on the legendary lemon tree of his father, grandfather, great-grandmother and beyond, its signature flavour in Tiger Style lemonade helped his stand start strong... until his lemon tree began showing strange signs of illness, producing fewer and fewer lemons. Billy didn't want to let down his family, so when Zephyr Beverages approached his stand and offered a cure, Billy happily let them take a cutting from his lemon tree for testing. His tree recovered shortly after...
Why is it called Tiger Style? "Because it's awesome!"
It wasn't long until Zephyr released a 'new' drink line, Leopard Lemonade, with a very familiar flavour, and announced their entry into The Big Squeeze to show the world their latest Original Lemonade. Worried he accidentally gave away his family's legacy, Billy signed up for the contest as well. He'd have to win in order to prove that Tiger Lemonade is the true original, and that lemonade is about more than just a special strain of lemon.
Can the youngest contestant truly outpace Zephyr and prove that Tiger Lemonade can go the distance? We're all excited to find out!
At least Billy (now 'Renegade Bill') got some payback by building his running blade from Zephyr drone parts.
Billy's primary strengths are adaptation and snowball potential. The ability to move upgrades is weaker than a guaranteed upgrade in one particular area, but this lets him shift focus as the game continues so Billy can always adapt to the current stage of the game.
While Billy starts slow, his post-apocalypse powers are great for keeping momentum while scoring bounties. He has to avoid rushing in too soon, and build up his menu first! But once Billy is ready, he's the best in the game at catching up to almost any opponent. This makes him ideal for players who love big setups with game-ending payoffs!
Lemonade Stand-Off #3: Jack vs. Carol vs. Midas
Our final Stand-Off is a three-way poll, featuring Jack along with returning contestants Carol and Midas. This will determine which character gets the final spotlight before the campaign wraps up.
Midas is the infamous infomercial salesman of "Ice-10", which he claims are self-propagating ice crystals. Carol is a pilot and farmer known for inventing a form of Aerial Application for lemon trees. She's suspected to be the "Santa of Rinddale". Jack is the CEO of Zephyr Beverages, a top competitor in the food & beverage industry.
Whose story needs to be exposed? Cast your vote now, and whoever wins will be featured in the next character introduction! Voting closes Saturday at 8:00pm ET.
It's another fine day! Here is your monthly update on The Big Squeeze development. The short story is that everything is within regular development timelines, so you won't see any surprises here:
