There have been delays due to health issues that we are not going into here out of privacy concerns. However the core rule book is scheduled for wrap up. We also have had some art issues, actually a lot of art issues with two artist using AI, and since we promised no AI, we began with a third artist who's art is spectacular.
So, the game is not in anyway abandoned or not happening, we are targeting July for this being done and back from print. Sorry for the delays, and we promise to give more regular updates.
I wanted to give an update, myself and Pauli were expecting this project to be finalized as we had all the artwork and got into final layout. However, there were major unexpected issues with several pieces of the artwork that were critical to the game, and we had to have the artist redo some of it. However we did get the corrected art, and yesterday me and Pauli had a video call where we went over it and everything is now okay and sorted and approved.
We are now in final layout, Pauli is going to Vietnam on Holiday and we have plans when she gets back to go over the layout for her final approval and so printing can commence. Me and Pauli are excited to finally get this to you, and books should be shipping in January as art was the hold up.

Since the game has been edited, and all we have been waiting on is art, we are not in layout. This means the game will head to Pauli for her approval in the coming 3 weeks or so, and once she looks it over and approves it we will get it into print and binding.
We plan to later this week begin some fun updates, where we show you screen shots of pages of the game, so you can see how this awesome art is pairing with Pauli's awesome game. Pauli's creativity is legendary and it shows in this game. She really knocked this out of the ballpark.

So the updates...
1. We are on track to ship in August.
2. We had an issue with the artist, and had to get another artist who had the vision for the game.
3. We will be issuing trackers to everyone in August, and will in a week or so will be posting sneak peaks etc at layout etc.
We are really sorry for the delays, the other issue was we print and bind here, and the tariffs with the Chinese imports forced us to reset also our ability to get paper from China, and we had to move to a U.S. Supplier.
We will be shipping in August, and cannot wait to get this game to you all.

So much has been happening in the past few weeks, so I want to give a huge update to everyone to let everyone know the status etc.
First and foremost, the game release, and many questions as to tariffs etc. As you all know the President unexpectedly issued a series of tariffs on several key product producing countries such as China, and resulted in a back and forth of a "tit for tat" tariff war. This impacted a lot of makers and printers of game products such as us.
However.... When faced with sudden and unexpected problems you either deal with them fast or you dwell on them with "poor me" of an attitude. We dealt with them fast, and we secured alternate suppliers that are Stateside. The only downside was that it will cause about a 3 week delay in shipping of the Stars & Sails game. Given the circumstances that we were faced with, we think this is a huge win of a response. As many makers are tossing in the towels in frustration. Where we are not, in fact we are hiring a layout and editor specialist to help us be faster and more efficient.
Secondly, we have been preparing for WizardCon, the game convention in Kalamazoo, MI where we want to have Pauli on via remote to talk about Stars & Sails etc. That has been a rather massive undertaking. But we are on schedule there.
So yes Stars & Sails is on course, yes it is being released, and NO IT IS NOT being adversely effected by the tariffs. The tariffs just caused us to rethink and source differently our supplies, that actually in the long run will be better as we will be dealing with U.S. based suppliers, and that is always a win.
So look for an update next week, once we are done with WizardCon, we will be making an update as to Pauli's appearance and also giving everyone a sneak peak at artwork and layout.

Project Update: Pauli's Status

Folks- It's obvious there's some sort of problem with the product as Pauli's involvement is over and we've heard NOTHING about this project for nearly half a year. If there was indeed 90% of anything done at this point we should have seen SOMETHING, even that AI art, since the project was supposed to deliver over a year ago. Ignoring irritated backers is not the way to go. Most of us I'd wager are used to delays with crowdfunded projects, but straight up ghosting us is not acceptable. I think it's fair to say that we'd just like some sort of update because clearly the project is not getting done any time soon. Ignoring queries on Social Media and You tube are also not a good look. We believed in this enough to give you our money a year ago. Please reciprocate that faith by giving us some sort of status update. Even if it's "project is dead- sorry" it's better than absolutely nothing. It's not a good look for a publisher to not deliver and ignore backers. I truly am sorry if this sounds harsh or demanding, but I feel it's warranted. Until we hear something, I cannot in good faith support WTG or any of its future projects.

We are now getting to 6 months without a single update. Any news? Art pieces? Layout screenshots? Rules draft? Anything? I know things happen, the world is in chaos, but the overpromises and lack of communication are hurting the company's reputation more than anything. We are all excited to (eventually, hopefully) get this book, but an update would be great to manage our expectations. Thanks.

And nearly half a year since the last update. This is very disappointing because I am a fan of Pauli's and backed this largely because she posted about it on FaceBook. Last word was that AI art was the reason for the hold up. It's been 5 months since that update. Is there anything, anything at all that can be shown to the people who backed this book that the book is still alive? I think folk would agree that's not asking much as in April of last year it was stated that 90% of the art was finished and all the writing was complete.
