Gen Con Recap + Prototype Preview
Hey all!
We're settling down after a crazy week at Gen Con, and we wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who stopped by to see us.

We actually met several of you backers there at the con and received a ton of valuable feedback from those who stopped by the booth. We appreciate all of the comments and suggestions - they're incredibly helpful as we continue moving the project forward!

Now that we're back, we wanted to give all of you a look at something we've been working on...

Book & Slipcase Prototypes

While these are still prototypes and we'll continue refining them before production, we're really happy with how everything is coming together so far.

We'll continue sharing more behind-the-scenes looks as development progresses.
Thank you again for your support, and we'll see you in the next update! 🚀

Smoke Tests Going Out!
Attention, Travellers!
We're beginning the next phase of the journey: survey testing.

Over the next few days, we'll be sending out a small batch of smoke test surveys. This is a standard part of the process where we send surveys to a limited number of backers first to make sure everything is working correctly before rolling them out to everyone.

If you don't receive a survey this week, don't worry!

It just means you're not part of the initial test group. Assuming everything goes smoothly, we'll send the remaining surveys shortly afterward.

When your survey arrives, you'll be able to:
  • Confirm your shipping information
  • Review your pledge selections
  • Make sure everything looks correct before fulfillment moves forward

Missed the Campaign?
The Traveller 5E Pre-Order Store is now open.
If you missed the original campaign, or know someone who did, this is your chance to come aboard and secure your copy: https://traveller-5e.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

Choose Your Jump Returns
Now that the campaign has wrapped up, I've finally got some time to continue our ongoing adventure.
A new Choose Your Jump poll has been added below!

Thanks again for being here with us! We'll continue sharing updates as we move through production!

End of Campaign Transmission
Traveller 5E has officially reached its destination.

Together, we closed the campaign at:
  • $841,443 Raised
  • 2,374 Backers
  • #8 Most Funded RPG on BackerKit
  • Highest Funded Sci-Fi RPG Campaign on BackerKit

Thank you.

So What Happens Next?
Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll begin preparing surveys.
Our first step will be to send out a small smoke-test batch to ensure everything is functioning correctly. This means we'll send surveys out to 1% of Backers - if you don't receive a survey, don't worry! You're just not part of that small test. If all goes well, we’ll then send surveys to everyone.
This is where you’ll:
  •  Confirm your shipping information
  •  Review your pledge
  •  Finalize add-ons and selections

The Journey Continues
Please expect regular updates from us throughout the writing and fulfillment process as we continue moving toward production, development, VTT integration, miniatures, books, and everything else ahead.
Once again:
Thank you, Travellers.
We’ll see you among the stars.

We’ve officially entered the final 24 hours of the Traveller 5E campaign.
It’s been an out-of-this-world ride (obviously), and we’re incredibly grateful for all the support! We have some big news to share before the end of the campaign:

New License Announcement - Humanx Commonwealth

We're excited to officially announce Humanx Commonwealth for Traveller 5E.

  •  New adventures set within the Humanx Commonwealth universe

We’re looking forward to sharing more about this project in the future.

Choose Your Jump - Entry 003 Winning Choice: Check the Cargo “You Shouldn’t Have Opened That” You don’t wait. The hold cycles open with a low hiss, colder than it should be. Your breath fogs as you step inside. The crate that shifted is easy enough to find because of the reinforced casing. No markings. No registry tags. You break the seal. Inside is a stasis pod. Frost clings to the inside of the glass. Power levels fluctuate - stable one second, dipping the next. The readout flickers, trying to resolve something it doesn’t want you to see. Life signs maybe? Engineering tries to pull a clean scan, but the system fights back - data loops, error codes, partial readings that don’t line up. Whatever’s inside is being deliberately obscured. Then the ship shudders. Proximity alert. The contact that was trailing you is now close and it’s not alone. Two more returns appear across the sensor screen. Back in the hold, something changes. The pod’s internal display stabilizes for half a second, long enough to show a silhouette. Humanoid? Then it glitches out again. The hail comes through again more insistent this time. “Unregistered vessel, cut power and prepare for boarding.”

Edit

Well. So much for that. Must we conclude that the Creator has abandoned this Project entirely? It seems they already have abandoned any and all pretence at intending to fulfil their promises to produce answers to questions that have been pending for several months — let alone responding to questions that have been hanging around for mere weeks.

Monthly Updates are great. A minimum necessity, I’d go so far as to say. And we’ve still ti see how that’s going to work out. However, keeping a finger on the pulse here and addressing questions and concerns from Backers as and when they crop up … sort of feels like it should come with the job, too. Is the Creator really only going to stick their heads in here once per month, tops??

The most concrete description of problem I'd like to see addressed boils down to the question, how much of a pig in a poke is the 25-bag Pop Box really? To break the problem down a bit: With six different dice sets, two of which labelled "rare" (although with no indication of what that actually means), four different dice bags, and eighteen different ship tokens, there are, theoretically, 432 different combinations of contents you can get in a Mystery Bag. With a fully even distribution of all items, the number of bags you need to buy to get one of every unique item would be 18. Then you would have got one of each unique ship token, three of each dice set including the "rare" ones, and four of each dice bag, plus a fifth of two. So, a Pop Box would give you all of the above, plus then some. With a controlled, even distribution of everything. Problem is that we know now that the distribution isn't controlled, much less even. To the point that no-one can even say what the actual distribution is. No control of distribution is likely to mean that items are collected into bags in the most natural order — as they arrive from production. And production doesn't deliver items randomly, it delivers in batches. First you get ten thousand sets of blue dice. Then ten thousand green sets. And so on. First you get two thousand black anodised Beowulf tokens. Then you get two thousand gold anodised Beowulf tokens. Then you get two thousand nickel plated Beowulf tokens. And so on. This means that as the bags are made, you are very likely to get thousands of them in a row with very little difference in content — if any. Meaning that there is also a very real risk that most Pop Boxes will contain 25 Mystery Bags with exactly, or very nearly, identical contents. I have a hunch most people forking up $400 for one of these boxes wouldn't be extremely thrilled if that turns out to be the case. I would of course very much prefer to believe that it does not, but unfortunately, current indications aren't bearing my preferences out. Therefore, I'd really like to know what the factual circumstances are, what the Creator is committing to deliver, before I myself commit to buying a single bag, let alone a Pop Box.

Made my final payment for my pledge today. Felt good knowing that all that's left is a shipping charge nearer the time. Although... It's getting a little concerning that smoke tests haven't gone out yet, four months after starting my pledge, two months after we were told to expect them, and after having had only a couple of updates in the interim. Now I know you guys are busy - there must be a lot more to do than perhaps you expected after hitting so many of the stretch goals. I think I speak for everyone when I say this - we appreciate the workload you have and look forward to the end result. However, being a single working dad with limited funds, commiting to the level of pledge I have is potentially a huge risk for me. (It's MY risk, I'm aware, but nevertheless, a risk all the same). When this forum is the only means by which I can get any information or feedback regarding the process and stage this project is at, the long periods of silence are very worrying. Might I suggest a monthly, or even bi-monthly post on here to keep us in the loop? Even if that post is "no news today", we'll still feel like we're part of the process and perhaps won't be getting as antsy as time goes on. Thanks. 😉👍
