I’ve been a full-time, board-certified physician assistant and Texas-licensed medical provider for 25 years, with over 20 years of specializing in infectious diseases, surgical wound care, and hyperbaric medicine. I’ve also been a member of The Houston Women Leaders Association and a small business owner since 2020.

I have been a member of AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants) and TAPA (Texas Academy of Physician Assistants) since 1998. Since 2020, I have served on the TAPA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. I’ve been part of PALH (PAs of Latino Heritage/for Latino Health) since 1998 and take pride in supporting our past president, Paola Gonzalez’s, vision for regional divisions. I also initiated the Houston Area Chapter, which provides a more personal experience for members and outreach to underserved student groups. Additionally, I have been involved with the LGBT PA and PA Moms Caucus since 2019.

I am currently in my 8th year as a parent at CVHS (Carnegie Vanguard High School) and in my 6th year on the CVHS PTO Executive Board. 

After serving a 2-year term as PTO President from 2022-2024, following a 2-year term as VP of Communications & IT from 2020-2022., and acting VP of Communications & IT 2023-2024), I am currently on the Board as the Past President and Chair of the Campus Beautification Committee, as well as Chair of the Family and Community Engagement Committee. I also serve as the Parent Representative for Carnegie’s district SDMC (Shared Decision-Making Committee) and the Title I Parent Engagement Committee. 

In addition, I served on the Senior Awards Committee from 2018-2021 & 2022-present, chaired it from 2019-2021, and served as interim chair in 2023-2024. I was also the Senior Class Parent for the Carnegie Class of 2022 and shared class-parent duties with the Class of 2026. I have been a Girl Scout Troop Co-Leader/First Aider since 2013, and am a life member of the GSOA. I am the Founder & Past President of Emerson Elementary PTO from 2009 to 2013. 

I am an outspoken LGBTQIA+ associate & abettor. I was honored to be named Houston Pride365’s Volunteer of the Year in 2021 as Medical and Safety Lead Officer in 2022 - 2025, Block Captain in 2023, and Caucus FRIENDS OF EQUALITY Sponsor for 2024. I have been a Supporting Member of PFLAG since 2016, GLMA since 2020, The LBGT PA Caucus since 2019, and The Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus since 2021, and I have been on the Endorsement & Bylaws and Rules Committee since 2023.

I was Campaign Manager for Judicial Candidate, Paul Calzada, for the 312th District Court, May 2021-March 2022; a past HCDP Precinct Chair 2012-2015, Our Revolution Harris County Endorsement Committee Member 2021-2022, current Harris County Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar 2020-Present, Harris County SD 15 State Delegate 2020 & 2022, current JoltInitiative.org Volunteer; Madrina Level Donor, 2020-present.

I’m a proud mother of two children who attend Houston Public Schools and have been married to my high school sweetheart, Paul, since 1998.
