PC / Tech Geek, science fiction fan, into less 'mainstream' Sci-Fi (Like Babylon 5, FarScape, Firefly, etc.) but also am a big Red Dwarf Fan. Used to watch the earlier episodes of Doctor Who (80s - 90s) but am not a fan of the 'reboot' seasons. Used to spend most of my childhood reading comics for boys like 'Warlord', 'Commando', 'War Picture Library', and the like. Was never into '2000AD', but did collect the UK edition of the G1 Transformers comics.
Not a major fan of 'forced-humour', That includes pretty much anything starring Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler and their ilk. Overdone American rubbish, IMHO.
Was also a major fan of Susan Cooper's 'Dark is Rising' sequence of books, which she started writing before I was even born! A lot of similarities in terms of the style of story telling between that, and Julian Simpson's 'Lovecraft Investigations' series. It captivated me right from the first episode. Had never heard of Barnaby Kay, prior, but was a fan of Nicola Walker's acting talent, so when I figured out she was in the show, it was a no-brainer. She sounds so natural, almost like she's not even 'acting' per-se.
I'm disappointed the BBC have decided not to fund the continuation of this series, but given a range of issues relating to them and their funding, I can understand why. Their loss, is our gain!
