"You said so yourself, remember?"
The Unnatural World is a set of campaigns set in the same universe. Each project is interactive on some level, with lore and story weaved into every item. Those who join our campaigns are incentivized to join the action, thinking in character, and picking choices based on the story they have read.

You may be asking yourself dear reader......"Why would I want to learn about a world and lore for some pins I want to buy?" and to that, I say, "Why do anything?" or, to say less romantically "It would be cool, maybe even a little fun."

Interactive Campaigns: Have a Say in the Tale

Interactive campaigns are a type of project with a small story that is highly affected by user choices. Usually this story is attached to stretch goals or user input and will come with new pins or other products added to the lineup. An interactive campaign usually involves an in-universe written page, or at least many lore and story elements. We believe in adding another layer to your pin collection by allowing you learn the stories and emotions behind the product you're buying.

After all, you already know you're here for the pins, do you really need the same old rundown?

Customized Digital Pets

Certain campaigns in this world (Those ran by Atom) come with a free digital pet upon request, often coming with a short dabble with them. The more campaigns you join the more digital pets you can collect.

How are 100s of pets made for a project? Each pet is drawn with a series of genes, usually totaling at least 40. These genes are then overlayed on top of the pet and colored using a custom built system we have made. This is how these projects can delivery customized pets to every backer who requests one. Not every project comes with a free digital pet. Check the FAQs and text of the project to see if these beloved critters will be offered to backers.

Fun Fact: You can post your pet wherever you want! Just make sure to credit either Atom or Toadstown for it or link to the project you got your pet from. Any of the three options work!

We are currently only offering ponies (see the image below) but when we add more pet species we'll have a section here about every species you can request.
"A herd of lovely ponies and a fraud, an aphony. The ponies don't seem to mind....maybe you shouldn't either...."

The HELLS: An Everyday Horror

Have you ever felt the struggle to communicate? Your voice stuck in your mouth. Even when you speak, you find yourself speaking lies, not about yourself or others, but of reality? Welcome to the HELLS of this world.

RED HELL: On March 5th ████ at 9:30pm ████████ struck and killed a devoted business man, husband, and father of two on his way back home from work. Instead of calling in the accident ████████ drove away from the scene. Years later his life stands in ruins as a grand judge, his own mind, orders that he'd never have a moment of rest for his actions that day. A RED HELL is a term for a domain of punishment.

GREEN HELL: On March 5th ████ at 9:30pm a group of teens make a cruel joke to another, calling them a monster. ████████ the affected one, goes home later in the day, mind troubled. Upon spotting a mirror they reel back in disgust and horror, for the appearance of a beast has been forced upon their form. They try to let the comment go so that they can be freed from this change in reality but the damage is done. A GREEN HELL is a term for a large, ever changing, and hostile feeling jungle.

BLUE HELL: On March 5th ████ at 9:30pm ten people across the world opened their doors and left to never return. It was never their intention to disappear that day. Some were heading out on grand hikes, others simply taking a 10 minute walk to the store. None of them would ever be found, and no one ever went looking for them. They had been forgotten before they had even disappeared. BLUE HELL is a term for falling under the map in a video game.

Q: What happened on March 5th ████ at 9:30pm?
A: Nothing much. It was just a normal day. The incidents that happened on that date and time are not unique to any other day.

Fun Fact: You might already be in one of these HELLS. If you're unsure it doesn't hurt to check!
If you feel it is imposed by yourself,
it's RED.
If you feel like others have put you in this situation,
it's GREEN.
And if you feel it doesn't matter because no one is coming to help,
it's BLUE.

Lands of the Blighted Bestiary: A Warped Reality

The Blighted Bestiary follows the story of an alien parasite that has crash-landed in the enchanted woods, warping the magic of the land into something unrecognizable. While nature has been ever evolving the way the bodies of the residents twist upon interaction with the otherworldly is unnatural. How could a simple voice in the woods cause all of this?

Fun Fact: The world of the Blighted Bestiary constitutes as a Green Hell, in fact it's one of the biggest instances of one ever spotted on Earth! Wowzers!

FAQs: Imagined Up Quandaries

Q: Do all the stories take place in the same location?
A: Yes! This may seem odd considering how different each campaign is but all projects take place on Earth at around the same point in history, that being said, each project shows a different "view" of the world.

Q: Why does this Earth seem so different from ours?
A: It's not actually all that different.
Visually, yes, but it's all the same when you get down to it, except for one fact. On this Earth the only native species are humans (Homo sapiens) and the Lady Amherst's pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae). All other life on Earth are aliens. (Horseshoe crabs do still exist but as Earth is where they put their vacation homes on this does not count despite technically vacationing here longer than humanity has existed.)

Q: What happened to all the animals?
A: They all went extinct.

Q: Why did the Lady Amherst's pheasant survive out of everything?
A: I wonder if the Lady Amherst's pheasant ponders the same about humans.

Q: Are the aliens nice....?
A:
They think humans are a weird looking endangered animal that needs to be protected from everything, but primarily from themselves. (Humans are very good at hitting each other with cars so the aliens have been trying to make cars that don't kill us, too bad we're just really really good at dying anyway. Lady Amherst's pheasants on the other hand have never killed each other in a motor vehicle accident, proving to aliens that humans and pheasants are approximately, in comparison to them (the aliens), the same level of intelligence.)

Q: If there are only humans and aliens in this world how come many projects are themed around animals?
A: An abstraction is where something is used in place of the actual subject. This may done for many reasons such as making the subject matter easier to consume or to allow the viewer an easier time putting their own thoughts and relating to where the abstraction has been placed.

Q: What in the world are you talking about?

A: A city and a forest are approximately the same thing if you close your eyes and think really hard about it. Now imagine a new supermarket suddenly appears in town.....

Q: What....
A: Weird animals are really cool. I think that's what it boils down to.

Fun Fact: Singularities are the most notable alien in this media. They are godlike hyper intelligent beings. With the intelligence of thousands or even millions of lifetimes at their disposal. They are able to make choices a human cannot. They might seem weird and scary, and they are, but I promise you they exist even now. They just take shapes you don't expect.

"Skipper (Toadstown) to the left, (Me) Creature Collector (Atom) to the right."
Look, I'm not a chatty person, and I'm sure most of you have tuned out by now so I'll make this quick. I'm Creature Collector (Atom) and my partner is Flipper (ToadsTown). We're not newcomers here. Pins, plushies, keychains, you name any common trinket and we both either had our hands in it, or are planning to have our hands in it.

If you're interested in Flipper's past works feel free to check out his Bluesky and Twitter, or follow his Etsy to pick up past merchandise and wait for B-grades to pop up. If you're interested in my past work, well, bad news pal. You'll have to seek it out yourself. Unlike Flipper I'm no social butterfly, but don't worry, I promise it's not that hard to find. You'll know you've found my work once you realize that this little pit you've come across is much deeper than it seems.

Fun Fact: Skipper and Creator Collector are no more special than you are.
