First-Ever Gemstone DCC Dice!
For the first time in the history of Dungeon Crawl Classics, we’re excited to offer gemstone dice!
These extraordinary dice are carved from K9 glass, or bloodstone, and perfectly complement the Castle Whiterock adventure theme: “white” glass and blood “rock”!
Choose gemstone dice sets in the traditional polyhedron 7-set (d4, d6, d8, d10, d%, d12, d20) or the “DCC funky 7" (d3, d5, d7, d14, d16, d24, d30). Or both!
Plus: Add DCC #114: The Mermaid of the Cursed Sands!
This level 1 adventure is stand-alone but written with the Dark Tower setting in mind.
Lo, an omen of the apocalypse has revealed itself! Dormant for centuries, rumors now spread that the feared pink waters of the Fountain of Tefnut flow once more! The fountain, once considered a wonder of the world, was toppled by priests of Mitra when they learned the life-giving waters turned those who drank it into thralls of the goddess Tefnut.
The fountain’s location was eventually forgotten to time. But now whispers from the Lostland’s desert merchants say that the baleful pink waters indeed flow once more. If true, the holy texts foretell of “sixty six years of debasement of Mitra’s laws.” It has fallen to you to brave the perils of the desert, determine if the rumors are true, and if so, dismantle the fountain once and for all!
Castle Whiterock is an immense dungeon complex sitting beneath a crumbling, ancient castle.
There are 15 primary levels with a number of thematic sub-levels for a total of 30 levels to explore. More than 1,000 years of history advanced the dungeon to its current state. It is inhabited by fully-detailed NPCs with personality traits and physical descriptions, who lead their forces and vie for control of various parts of the dungeon. Multiple dragons complete the underlying ecology – but one is in disguise, and discovering the multi-layered plot of the dungeon is part of the adventure!
Nearby is the Inn of the Slumbering Drake, which serves as a base of operations for player characters in between forays into the dungeon. Appendices include new NPCs, monsters, and spells.

What are The Levels?
These are the 30 levels of Castle Whiterock:
Level 1: The Upper Ruins: Originally a monastery, and later a gnomish outpost, orcish stronghold, and imperial garrison.
Level 2: The Pits of Despair: Orcs and an active quartz mine
Level 3: The Lower Dungeons of the White Roc Orcs: Partly-flooded level full of mines that may contain artifacts of the orcs’ ancestors.
Sub-level 3A: The Ruins of the Cloud Giant Tower: The ruined tower crashed into the mountain long ago.
Level 4: Between a (White) Rock and a Hard Place: Troglodytes inhabiting natural caverns. No longer protected by their dragon overlord, now preyed upon by humans and orcs.
Sub-level 4A: The Clockwork Academy: Once a gnomish construct factory, later destroyed. An intact wing includes the headmaster’s vault with blueprints of golem construction inside.
Level 5: The Submerged Ruins of Castle Whiterock: Hidden level was flooded when the water table increased after earthquakes. Now completely submerged.
Level 6: Smells Like Trouble: Mountain troglodytes inhabit this level, a river cave honeycombed by stonebore ants. These trogs are allied with a fallen cult.
Sub-level 6A: Ruined Chapel of Bobugbubilz: When the cult’s leader sacrificed a paladin to their foul god, Justicia buried the complex in a landslide. From beyond death, the cultists plot a resurgence.
Sub-level 6B: The Halls of Forgotten Lore: A hidden library erected by monks. Its caretaker is a mild-tempered lich more interested in knowledge than ambition.
Level 7: The Watery Way: Watery caves that can be traversed via boats or magic. Derro man an outpost here, an aboleth conducts abominable experiments, and a druid trafficks in fungi and poisons.
Sub-level 7A: The Hidden Fane of Justicia: The Order of the Sundered Scale used this hidden fane as a base camp during their campaign against the ancient dragon.
Level 8: The Far Garden: A demiplane that connects with all temperate forestland in the world, accessible via mysterious gates. But goblinoids have invaded this pristine forest!
Sub-level 8A: The Glade of Farewell: A private realm where unicorns go to die, only accessible through a Gloaming Bridge located in the Far Garden.
Level 9: Denizens of the Immense Cavern: A gigantic hollow below the Watery Way. All who progress deeper into Castle Whiterock must pass through this level, which includes lairs of numerous creatures.
Sub-level 9A: The Tomb of Anhkhotep: An obsidian pyramid. Long ago a mage teleported it to Castle Whiterock, but it brought about his doom.
Sub-level 9B: The Inverted Tower: The last refuge of a famous drow family, this watchtower was carved inside a giant stalactite. Matron Chaliax presides over the slow death of her house.
Sub-level 9C: Peduncle’s Retreat: A member of a defunct Fellowship resides in this sealed grotto. A powerful device made by the Clockwork Academy washed up here after an earthquake.
Level 10: The Bleak Theater: Drow originally built this coliseum, now occupied by duergar.
Sub-level 10A: Koborth’s Tomb: This crypt was the not-so-final resting place of General Koborth of the Company of the Black Osprey.
Sub-level 10B: Money for Nothing: Puzzle-rooms where Nimboltin Softstep of the Company of the Black Osprey is buried – along with his wealth.
Level 11: Narborg – Outer Defenses: The defenses of a duergar fortress that controls traffic between the Lightless Gate and the surface, manned by clansmen and mercenaries.
Sub-level 11A: The Lightless Gate: An immense construct that defends the fortress and an approach to the dragon lair. A derro potionworks is located along this path.
Sub-level 11B: Carapace Fissure: A vermin-infested, two-hundred-foot-deep pit used as a garbage dump by the duergar. Unknown to the dwarves, it connects to the Demonhold.
Level 12: Narborg – Inner Keep: The clan-hold of a duergar fortress. The thane is paranoid beyond reason.
Sub-level 12A: The Wizard’s Redoubt: Chambers created by magic long ago when a powerful wizard desired a private place to study. He died here, his remains still occupying his favorite chair, along with many magic items and his spellbooks.
Level 13: The Demonhold: This elaborate “prison” constructed by adventurers was supposed to redirect any summoned, evil outsiders to its tunnels, but it doesn’t work quite right.
Level 14: The Burning Maze: A series of active and inactive lava tubes interweaves between Narborg, the Demonhold, and the lair of the dragon. It even contains a rift to the Plane of Elemental Fire.
Level 15: The Dragon’s Lair: The former lair of the ghostly Benthosruthsa, currently occupied by his slayer, Silhouette. Plus a hidden magic item long sought can be found here, amidst the fantastic wealth.
Plus the Lost Level – and the chambers created by indie publishers!
