First off, sorry about being a week late with the update this month. The collab project I'm heading, Flatline on the Blocks, had its update delayed due to outside forces (read here if you're curious why), and since I bang out these two updates at the same time, I held off for this one too. Shouldn't happen again!

Anyhow, I hope your equinox was nice. Twisting Unseen has gotten a bit of forward momentum for a change here this month: Layout has begun!

I must admit that getting these two spreads complete required another great amount of editing down. My brain has been on editing mode these days, albeit in short windows between all the continued life-across-the-sea difficulties (one of the crazier bits of all that is that a mongoose killed one of our chickens, and I gotta trap the dang thing before it strikes again). But as far as layout goes, it's a puzzle I enjoy, although immensely time consuming for an amateur like myself. 

Looking forward to sharing the tables with y'all next time, :)

I keep overestimating my time constraints, this overseas move has really sucked the life out of me. 

At this point, the project is behind schedule. I may be able to catch up, thanks to the big amount of buffer time I built into the timeline, but I'll be frank: I have a new life to accommodate to with my family and by now I need to accept that adapting to life in the tropics is not going to be as simple as I'd thought.

In the limited time I've been able to set aside, I've been in a revision loop: adding in Mothership style guide formatting, going over the editing notes from Will Jobst, and trying to come to terms with the immense amount I've learned from the past year running Flatline on the Blocks, editing several Mothership Month projects, and hosting Ansible Uplink. This is a silly joke graph circling around bsky that I think sums up my revision struggles:

The answer to this bit is: Get over yourself, Chris. 

Jokes aside, the lack of scheduling the dedicated time to work consistently is the main problem. I'm very much a creature of habits, and not having a real routine has been difficult to manage. Once the kiddo is back at school, I feel like landing on the finalized, layout-ready draft will be much easier.

I've made a lot of progress on the manuscript this month, and just wanted to pipe in to say that I'll be tossing this into layout very soon! So I'll be back in a week or two with a bigger, better update to share with y'all. I just didn't want to go radio silent on the usual update day. Be back soon with some pretty images to show off, :)

Between all the complexities of my transatlantic move, getting Flatline on the Blocks to print, and other personal priorities, I haven't had the time to work on Twisting Unseen. I considered doing a bit of work just to show an example to y'all, but one thing I've learned from getting Flatline on the Blocks ready is that it's best not to break up layout work like that.
 
I did mention in the last update that I would have more availability in July, and with Flatline off to print, that's looking to be the case. (For the most part, I still have to pack boxes.) I am hoping to have some layout to show off in time for the next update. 

The updated timelines allows us to use December for kitting.
