In Portland, Oregon Trail your vehicle is like any other character in the game.
It gets its own die and has its own personality and edges. A large vehicle will have big trunk space and plenty of leg room but get worse mileage. A small vehicle will have a smaller gas tank and won’t have a very solid chassis, but it will get you across the country faster.
THE TIN CAN (d4) - This tiny vehicle has great mileage but it breaks down easily.
THE COMPACT (d6) - not too big, not too small. It's the real Goldilocks of cars.
THE WAGON (d8) - A vehicle big enough to be a pain to parallel park but not so big that you’re scared of an overpass.
THE TANK (d10) - Monsters on the road, these gas guzzlers eat speed bumps for breakfast.

Your vehicle has unique characteristics, or edges. It is a TTRPG character after all.
Each vehicle gets two edges. These are bonuses you didn’t even know were in this car! These Edges can be used to give your vehicle advantage on Actions and Saves. So hopefully you don’t get a lemon.

Give your vehicle a name. Make it fit on a license plate. Develop a para-social relationship with it. This does nothing but make you feel bad when your car gets hurt.
