It's time: The Lucky Machine is officially out now!
Hey all!
I will never stop saying thank you for your support, so thank you for your support ahhh! Today is the official release date of The Lucky Machine, so the general public can get it now! If you're part of the folks that were not able to order the book from me due to being in the EU, I've sent you emails with some links, including some BackerKit pricing links (discounted) so check your emails!
Everyone except for a handful of people should have their ebooks, or their physical is on the way if not already arrived. People have been sending me photos of the books as they're landing. So exciting! I can only hope the inside is just as good haha.
If you haven't received your stuff and it's not on the way (you didn't get an email saying it shipped), please log into your Backerkit account and check your pledges/survey area to make sure you didn't miss the survey link or your card hasn't failed/declined.
Paperback received by Machelle Berglund...
And the box it came in was thoroughly appreciated too
Paperback and doll received by Christiane Knight
Spine appreciation from Books That Burn (omg it took so many attempts to get it this close!)
Reviews are lifeblood for indies because getting 50 and 100 of them can unlock special promotions on Amazon, GoodReads, and elsewhere, so of course I'm going to go hey wanna leave a review? Everyone should have a review QR code insert in the back, but if you don't, you lost it, or something else, here's a few links you can use when you're done to leave a review. Hopefully it's a good one but hey if you didn't enjoy it, you didn't enjoy it. ;) No big deal! I don't take it personally, and I try not to read them (as much as I can), but I have to keep asking until the end of time.
Lastly, Tiny Robots pins are coming in 11 days as part of Pintopia 2026... Maybe you'll be interested in them? ;D You can sub using the link below if you are!
Hey folks! Quick update for you. Hardcovers arrived on Christmas Eve (woot) and I just got the paper dolls today so I've started shipping the rest of orders tonight. I got about 20 more of you out just tonight, but will keep working...
A note about the paper dolls
As a general note, the paper dolls are not perfect. There are some areas where the cuts got a little messed up, mainly visible most of all on the color sheet around the sharper areas like the hands. The printer said I could have these, or wait a few more weeks to get perfect paper dolls. I opted for the imperfect dolls as I really wanted you folks to have a chance to get your books before the general release date of The Lucky Machine on January 11th, 2026. I hope you don't mind this decision I made!
Feel free to tag me on social as these land (I love seeing them of course! :D) or email with any questions or concerns. Thank you yet again for your support and sticking with me through this! Can't wait to get the rest of you fulfilled and reading!
Paperbacks are here! Dolls are coming! Let's goooo! (Dogs inside)
Hey all! Great news. Paperbacks have arrived. Dolls are coming. Stickers are here. We're getting there!
Still waiting on hardcovers ([mumbled grumbling]) but at least I'll be able to pack up the paperback orders that don't have paper dolls and get them out ASAP. 12/17 (today) is officially the last USPS date to get things out in time to arrive for the holiday, so I'm gonna do my best with getting all the packages with all the stuff I have out to you so you can read for the holiday!
As a reminder, many of you will be getting recycled packaging. Some of these packages may have Amazon branding on them, but that does not mean your book came from Amazon. I think it's important to keep single use plastics circulating as much as possible, and the added benefit is it helps me cut down on shipping costs, so thank you for understanding. <3
Additionally... The Warm Machine has been nominated for 9 indie ink awards, which is incredible. You folks are so cool and amazing. To move to the next round (judges reading it), I just need enough votes (not sure how many).
You can now vote for The Warm Machine in the following categories:
All you need is a free indie story geek account and to pick your favorites in each category. The links above will take you to each category. You can only vote for one book per category, so I hope you’ll spend your vote with me!
Something else arrived too... Log in to view the content and see what it is.
Thank you SO MUCH for making my dreams come true AND MORE (YET AGAIN NO LESS!). You folks are amazing and I could definitely have not done it without you.
What's next?
Well here's the wrap-up (don't they call it a post mortem or something?), but now that the project closed, it'll be 2 weeks before Stripe disburses funds out to me. This means you will want to keep an eye on Backerkit/your email to make sure your charge doesn't fail, and if it does, you come right back in to fix it so you can get your rewards! If you miss the 2 week cutoff, don't worry, you can still fix it later and get your rewards.
Since this is VERY tight for the holidays, I can't guarantee you will get anything by then, but I'm gonna try.
I'll be sending out surveys basically at the same time we're waiting for Stripe to close/collect (read: very shortly). That means that by December 17th-ish I'll be trying to start shipping out orders. This means a LOT has to fall into place, so bear with me there. I'mma do my best. Check your email and make sure to fill out your survey ASAP! Can't find it? Let me know and I can get you your link.
After after, The Lucky Machine will be available to the public on Jan 11th, so that means international (EU really) folks can grab physical copies from IngramSpark or KDP. I'll have a special discount link via IngramSpark if you wanna order, just email me (if you haven't already) and I'll get it to you as soon as I have it! (P.S. You can "want to read" shelve The Lucky Machine on Goodreads now!)
I will keep you all updated as steps progress! Thank you again for all of your wonderful support!! I can't WAIT to get these books landing in your mailboxes!
Log in as a backer to see the butt I drew on stream and finished polishing up...
Today is the LAST 24 hours(ish) to back any of The Book Bazaar campaigns, including this one, and take advantage of BackerKit/TBB exclusives, exclusive pricing, and be the first to get everything.
Also... BEHOLD! THE BACKER BOT! Named "Gary" on stream. And everyone on a physical tier is getting a sticker, as per usual (unless you opt out in the survey).
Cursed. Cursed finger bot.
We participated in an ARG (as part of Belinda's The Hero Rebellion campaign)
We received the paperback and hardcover proof copies of The Lucky Machine (and adjusted accordingly)
And of course, we made the cursed-ass bot Gary.
What else? I'm sure there was definitely more.
But, the fun's not over. TONIGHT! On Twitch! I'll be streaming! Drawing art! Yup, drawing probably the customary butt if Twitch doesn't shut me down first. Come chat with me at 5 PM ET. I'll be on for about an hour working on these (provided I don't have any technical issues of course).
Additionally, December 3rd you can join a few of us for a wrap-up stream where we talk about our campaigns and all the fun things we did and learned along the way. We'll be on Twitch at 3 PM ET until our campaigns end at 4 PM (you can be annoying and keep them going into overtime by backing JUST before the campaign ends, btw, just in case you wanna troll).
Couple-a shouts...
BACK MY FRIENDS! Seven is back at it again with amazing artwork and tales from the alleyman. I can't wait to get this one!
Superheroes? Why not?! Especially when they're morally grey. I love this little novella and I know you'll love it as either a paperback, ebook, or audiobook!
Did you get that email? But you totally did back The Lucky Machine? The filtering is brooooken!
Sorry folks. I don't mean to cause any confusion! Backerkit is supposed to have filtering in place where you send an email to people who haven't pledged to let them know that the project is ending, and somehow... It's gone ahead and sent it to everyone, backed or not. I am totally happy to confirm if you've pledged or not (if you're wondering) but if you're getting this email, if you can see this update, then chances are, you are all set.
I've already fired off an email to Backerkit to look into what is going on with this, as my project was not the only one hit with this confusing lack of email filtering! I'm super sorry if I got you confused or panicked. Obviously not my intention. I'm shaking my fist at my computer right now, actually.
Technology, amirite? ðŸ«

After shirking her programming and abandoning her life of subservience, personal model NX slips from the mid-upper levels of the city to the disrepaired lower levels, where she meets a disillusioned cyborg who offers her an extraordinarily kind hand on her way to find the fabled robot utopia Root. In him she sees an innate talent for creating that hones something inside herself too, and with her bubbly, unsuppressable optimism – and a bit of luck – she begins to skyrocket the downtrodden fashion designer into fame, fortune, and all of the good – and bad – notice that comes with just such a thing while forging an unshakable friendship she is wary to leave behind.
If you like: Asimov's robot detective series, Cargill's Sea of Rust, Newitz's Autonomous, Chambers' A Psalm for the Wild Built, Detroit: Become Human, Space Sweepers, Robocop, Wells' The Murderbot Diaries, or any variety of robotic sci-fi in between, you'll love this book.
This book can be enjoyed as a standalone novella, but includes some characters touched upon in The Warm Machine, published last year!
Launching November 12th, 2025, The Lucky Machine will be released as an eBook as well as a paperback/hardcover book.
