Project Update: A Videographic Guide to the Making of the Annals' story "Falling from Oblivion"
Author Jonathan Oldenburg (who many of you will recognize from his role in The Grey Brotherhood actual play series) has created a new YouTube series entitled "World to Writing." Episode 1 is entitled "From Idea to Story." He explains:
Writing and worldbuilding theories are helpful, but at some point you have to put them into practice. This is the first of a five part mini-series on just that. The purpose here is to exemplify one method you can use to discover and then craft a story from your world. The first step is to find the plot, weigh it, and make sure it will serve your purposes. The real-life example I use here is for the short story Falling from Oblivion, which can be found in the Annals of the Auran Empire, crowdfunding now.
You can watch "From Idea to Story" below:
The complete series will have five parts:
Part 1: From Idea to Story - Live now
Part 2: From Concept to Character – Coming soon
Part 3: From Plan to Page – Coming soon
Part 4: From First Act to Final Scene – Coming soon
Part 5: From Draft to Polished Manuscript – Coming soon
These will be released every five days over the course of the Annals of the Auran Empire crowdfunding campaign. They give a wonderful insight into the methods by which Jonathan approaches his work. If you haven't been following Jonathan's YT videos, be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out.
