RESERVOIR is a body horror puzzle dungeon featuring an immense alien creature found in the sewers deep beneath The Great City. Many meat-based challenges await those who dare to prevent the scourge of The Flesh!
"Just beneath their feet, The Flesh continues to grow, feasting in the dark..."
RESERVOIR is a mid-level (3-4) horror puzzle dungeon adventure written for the Shadowdark RPG system. It juxtaposes the tense, frantic nature of a desperate horror scenario against the thought provoking nature of a puzzle dungeon. Players work to unlock physical and conceptual tools to further their own survival against a growing mass of sentient meat.
RESERVOIR is a 32-page staple-bound booklet at half-letter size. It includes 25 keyed locations as well as a detailed exterior to the adventure site. All of it enough for 1 to 3 sessions of play.
The zine includes:
A dungeon with 25+ rooms
Full color illustrations
A ticking clock mechanic which dynamically alters the dungeon space
If the project doubles in funding ($2000.00), I'll create an exclusive linoleum block print. All physical backers will receive a free 5x7'' signed and numbered print.
This will be the only run of this print. It is intended as a "Thank you," to everyone who supports this project.
Hi! I'm Cameron Maas. I'm an independent artist, writer, and RPG adventure designer.
Some may know me from the zine Hell Unearthed, an adventure written for Shadowdark, released in the summer of 2024. Since then it has been reviewed on the podcast Between Two Cairnsand went on to earn an honorable mention at their awards show "The Carnies."
You may also know me from my work on the hex maps in the Shadowdark Cursed Scroll zines, by Kelsey Dionne.
My previous works can be found HERE at my itch.io page
RESERVOIR has already gone through most of its development when it was devised through the Directsun Puzzle Dungeon Jam. Though, much expansion and improvement must be done as well as converting to full color art.
The estimated time to completion on Reservoir is as follows:
- February: Crowd-funding - March: All writing and layout complete -April: Complete art, and ready to print by the end of April -May: Buffer + PDF delivery -June: Print + proofs and quality assurance -July: Printing + shipping
Shipping will be collected post-campaign in the Pledge Manager.
Shipping Cost Estimates: - RESERVOIR (PRINT): United States $7.00, International $15.00 - RESERVOIR + Hell Unearthed (PRINT): United States $8.00, International $16.00
I will send these zines anywhere in the world as long as the USPS can ship it there. Currently excluded countries can be found HERE
I'm honored to announce that I get the opportunity to work with the master of puzzle dungeons, Directsun. He is funding the much anticipated A Familiar Tower, a mind bending, escape-room style puzzle dungeon. Together, we're making a digital trifold adventure you'll get for free if you back both of our projects.
The light has been there for as long as you can remember. Now it's gone and signs all point to the end. The DARK is closing in.
I plan to fulfill straight out of my home. This means I'll individually package and send out every single order. Though the logistics of such an endeavor intimidates me, I have a few friends and colleagues (Jesse Winters, Michael Putlack) who have fulfilled from home before, and they've provided me a whole load of guidance.
Hey, so this is my first Zine Month as a creator. The experience could not have been any better. Seeing as ZiMo is a community driven event all about making cool shit. Please go check out all the other folks making said cool shit. Below are a handful of projects that I think are really worth your time.
Outcast Unseelie and the Ooze Between: Admittedly, I have a horse in this race. Jesse Winter has me working on artwork for this gooey, evocative, and whimsical puzzle dungeon. It's some how both sticky and crusty. I love it!
A Familiar Tower: From the puzzle dungeon guru himself, Directsun, A Familiar Tower is an escape room style puzzle dungeon with a mind bending twist. It even comes with the tools/instructions to make your own props to enhance the experience!
Cain Sun: In this Mothership scenario Waco flips the script on the players. Instead of controlling human survivors, they control the monsters, albeit very small ones. Play as a group of parasites controlling a single host, and explore a forgotten alien necropolis. You'll never trust your fellow players again!
Twisting Unseen: Chris Air and team built this adventure around decrepit super structures and chaotic teleportation technology. It's sure to impress with dynamic map building systems and biomechanical beings!
