Project Update: STEALTH MECHANICS p.1
Hey beautiful folks!
We're 85% backed in 2 days - thanks to the support you gave us. Yay!
So we thought we would entertain you by occasionally posting more details about the project and our development philosophy, while the campaign is running.
Today starts a cycle of posts about Stealth Mechanics. For us in ChosenBun, stealth is the science of choosing the right position, being in the right place at the right time.

Today starts a cycle of posts about Stealth Mechanics. For us in ChosenBun, stealth is the science of choosing the right position, being in the right place at the right time.
It’s also about:
1. Rewarding observation and patience
We believe that stealth should reward players who watch before they act. Getting the timing and positioning right is a skill, and the reward for being skilled is a better outcome.
In SeverLink:
- gathering information about your enemies helps you make a precise strike/choose the right path
- scouting patrol paths, reading environmental cues, and studying guard routines enable precise, low-risk decisions
- patient observation often reveals hidden routes or clever, non-lethal solutions (have you found a secret vent into the IT room?)
2. Ability to control the pace
The player needs to be able to set the rhythm: creeping inch by inch vs speeding through. Hitman and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory allow players to create their own tempo, and this is what we love them for.
SeverLink:
- supports both stealth and direct combat
- allows lethal and non-lethal weapons
3. Immersion & emotional motivation to act covertly
Stealth is more compelling when it’s grounded in narrative or ethical weight. Sneaking feels different when you care about the mission, the world, or the people involved. So we'll do our best to support the stealth with the narrative in a way that doesn't break immersion.
In SeverLink:
- you are always outnumbered so you better not give away your presence
- narrative importance of being stealthy for every mission
- ideally player can experience different moral outcomes depending on their actions
To be continued...
