When my dad died in 2018, I longed to be a kid again — to play soccer with him, to have him by my side, to feel that simple joy and safety that only childhood could bring. My inner child was so sad. In those moments, I turned to the small comforts I could hold onto — like the plushies that reminded me of him, of home, of happier times.
That’s why I created Cocobear — not just a plush, but a way to reconnect with cherished memories and give your inner child a soft place to land. Some kits can be as simple as a Cocobear, fabric markers and a pony bead bundle to name Your new custom plushie! Others can be more complex depending on skill level or the customizing skills you want to learn!
How It Works- Step‑by‑Step
Pick Your Base Cocobear- embroidered or blank plush - embroidery allows for you to color in eyes, nose and mouth for easy customizing, blank face allows you to draw any face or add safety eyes, nose and sew on a mouth. The possibilities are endless.
Choose your kit and Customize – color, paint, dye, iron on a design, sew on fabric beads or patches. Kits will be standard and available all year round or limited drops. Kits could be anything from sprinkle bear kit, to cosmic brownie kit to fairy or zombie kit and also kits for holidays and celebrations!
3. Zip It – zip to protect your art and make it washable. Easily remove stuffing to dye the bear or wash the bear whenever you like! Add weighted beads to the feet and paws for a cuddly weighted friend!
4. Add on kits for extra fun: add on a custom tshirt kit or bear bracelet kit. Choose from white tshirt with image to iron on or accessories to bedazzle with or the beads you need to make your bear a special bracelet! 5. Enjoy – cuddle, collect, or display your unique CocoBear!
Kits are a main part of this customizable plushie experience! There will be kits based on different skill Levels! For example some will come with Markers to color a bear, and some kits will come with rit dye, safety eyes and accessories! See more below!
Cocobear is a line of customizable plush toys designed by former attorney-turned-artist Sophia Tyris. Each plush features a unique construction that allows it to be dyed, painted, or accessorized—complete with unstuff-to-customize zippers, swappable belly panels, and specialty faceplates for iron-on art. Each piece is specifically designed to be dyed with rit dye, or have parts of the black and white design left as is. Shorter haired plushies like the Cocobear, space kitty, zombie frogs and mothling can be colored, painted, dyed and all four have zippers for easy customization!

Will the design wash-out? – No—marker kits and dye kits are permanent and designed to withstand machine wash.
Can I add my own materials? – Yes! The blank bear is open to any creative medium.
Are there pre-designed options? Yes — handcrafted variants can be customized by me or digitally printed onto the fabric for an added price.
