Project FAQ
No. Secrets of Wonderland & The Oracle's Guide are each standalone, with their own story, characters and mechanics. If you have played the original game, your Scribe and Rival can carry on into Secrets of Wonderland. The Oracle's Guide is a group game with all-new mechanics, so they will need to be rebuilt there.
No. The Oracle’s Guide is a standalone multiplayer rulebook. You do not need the original Covens of Midnight or Secrets of Wonderland to play it.
Both. Covens of Midnight and Secrets of Wonderland are solo journalling games. Secrets of Wonderland also has new Duet Rules that let you play through Wonderland with a partner. The Oracle's Guide is a tabletop RPG for groups, with one player as the Oracle (GM). It also includes GM-Less Mode, which needs no Oracle at all, so you can play it fully solo or with friends.
GM-Less Mode lets you play the Oracle's Guide with no Oracle (Game Master). You form a Circle, made up of your Scribe and the Companions you create, and tables and prompts take the Oracle's place. You can play it fully solo or with as many players as you like, and switch between GM-Less and Oracle-led play whenever you want. It is an extension of the new Spellbinder System, not a separate game. It plays differently from the journalling of Covens of Midnight, but you can still journal as you go if you love to. GM-Less Mode is included in the Oracle's Guide.
Yes. Covens of Midnight returns as a corrected second printing, with its rules clarified, errata applied throughout and every published expansion collected in one volume. It is the same game, and it is fully compatible with the first printing. New Kin, two new Paragons (Ormurrin and Soloria) and new lore are being released as a free digital expansion for everyone who owns Covens of Midnight, whichever printing they have. Every copy of the book came with its PDF, and that PDF will be updated to the corrected version at no cost.
No. Any standard tarot deck works with every book. The Covens of Midnight and Wonderland tarot decks in this campaign are optional. In both of our decks, the Major Arcana are illustrated in the Rider-Waite style and the Minor Arcana follow the Marseille style.
Sanctum is our virtual tabletop. It runs in your browser on PC and mobile with nothing to install. Sanctum Access for each game is worth £15 and is included with your pledge. It is yours to keep and is not a subscription.
Yes. Every pledge that includes a game, PDF or physical, comes with Sanctum Access for that game.
Your PDFs and Sanctum Access are sent by email as a code for you to redeem. Finished games, such as Covens of Midnight and any add-ons that contain finished titles, are sent 4 weeks after the campaign ends. The digital content for Secrets of Wonderland and The Oracle's Guide follows by Q4 2027 at the latest. We will post an update when each is ready.
No. The designs shown are not final and are subject to change.
Digital stretch goals are given to every pledge. Physical upgrades apply only to the products named in that goal, so you receive an upgrade if your pledge includes that product.
Nothing is sent out, digital or physical, until your final instalment has been paid. Once your pledge is paid in full, you receive everything that has already gone out to other backers, including finished games and their Sanctum Access, and the rest follows with everyone else.
Shipping is not charged with your pledge. It is charged through BackerKit closer to fulfilment and is based on weight, so add-ons will change it. VAT, tariffs and any import fees for your country are charged or due at that stage and are your responsibility. Estimates for each region are in the Shipping & Timelines section.
All digital content will be delivered by Q4 2027 at the latest. Games that are already finished arrive sooner, in digital form with their Sanctum Access, 4 weeks after the campaign ends. That includes Covens of Midnight and any add-ons that contain finished titles. Physical rewards follow once printing and production are complete. We have not set a date for those, because production and shipping times can change, and we will post an update at each milestone. Nothing is sent out to Pay Over Time pledges until the final instalment has been paid.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
