Project Update: News, Podcasts, and Reviews!
It also means we've entered a new phase of stretch goals: pay boosts for all our core book and stretch goal creators. We've already unlocked a 10 percent pay bump for the artists and authors contributing to the game, with that increasing to 20 and 30 percent as we push toward $150k.
In other news, we've recently seen some thoughtful reviews and podcast episodes about Stewpot!
"What if your D&D adventuring party settled down and opened a tavern, and the vibes went from, like, dragon murderers to more like, Bob’s Burgers?"
That's Sam Dunnewold of the Dice Exploder podcast who sat down with Lee Conrads to talk about how Everyone Adds a Detail in Stewpot.

Seamus Conneely at CannibalHalflingGaming.com posted a very thorough and thoughtful review of the Preview Edition we share with every backer:
"a very strong batch of evocative scenarios and prompts, each one providing a great jumping off point to explore your tavern, your town and its people, and most importantly both who your characters are and who they become."
You can read the full review here: https://cannibalhalflinggaming.com/2024/04/30/stewpot-tales-from-a-fantasy-tavern-backerkit-review/
And finally Takuma Okada, designer of Stewpot, sat in on an episode of Dice Exploder to discuss the game Ribbon Drive and its Playlist mechanic:
"I really love mechanics that help you get in the mood, get in the right mindset, get the right vibe. I like Oracle type things. I like things that, you know, aren't quite prompts that give me a lot to work with... the Ribbon Drive music stuff especially reminds me of like really good, more dramatic long form improv stuff that gives you the kind of vibes that you can really lean into and develop."

If you're just cracking open your Backer Preview PDF of the game, we thought these reviews and podcasts would help give some insight into the casual, cozy world of Stewpot.
And if you've played the game yourself, we'd love to hear how it went. Let us know in the comments!
I might have overlooked the reason, but why isn't there shipping to mainland Europe? I would really like a physical copy, but I know that I won't be able to buy one in-store later both because there are very few stores nearby that carry TTRPG stuff and because the stores that do, don't carry stuff like this.
One of the things I love doing is coming up with custom tea and chai masala blends for different characters/stories/games, sometimes with side snack dishes. Would you take cozy food recipe contributions from backers? (This seems like a fantastic place for a cage bach / Welsh griddle cakes with choose-your-own-fruit-adventures recipe, for example...)
Project Update: Some Stew for the Stewpot!
Takuma will be creating four more games for Stewpot and we've brought a dozen new contributors on board to create additional Adventure Jobs, Journal entries, and more!
Next up, we've got something extra-special: At $120k, Krista D. Ball will create four custom, fully cookable recipes! Each will be tailored to the four levels of Cuisine you can achieve in the game. Although they'll have a fantasy theme, each one will be a dish you can actually prepare, serve, and enjoy. Plus Krista will include a vegetarian version of each one.
Krista is the author of What Kings Ate and Wizards Drank, an exploration of medieval cuisine as seen in both history and in fantasy fiction. We're excited to see the creativity she can bring to this project.
But we can't get there without your help! As of this writing, we're about $5k away from unlocking that stretch goal. We've had tremendous support through the opening days of the campaign (thank you!) but we're now entering the period where the funding arc begins to flatten.
If you've had a chance to look through (or even play!) the backer preview of the game, if you've fired up the free Roll20 Quickstart, if you like what you see - please share the project with your friends and on social media. It may seem like a small thing, but it really does help.
Thank you again for your support, we're grateful to see such a strong showing for this cozy little game of life changes and good vibes.
I wasn't able to figure out from the bit's I've read, is this run by a GM or is it built so everyone is a player and you decide as a group which mini games to play which determine your success?
Hi! I backed for the for the roll20 and the pdf. I wanted to add on the physical book and the dice which are listed under Add-ons, but they aren't available. Is that a system glitch? Thanks in advance!
Project Update: First 24: Funded + New Mini-games!
Our next stretch goals add even more mini-games for you to explore.
If we hit these upcoming milestones, designer Takuma Okada will create games around attending the funeral of an old companion, retracing your steps over a road you once traveled, and getting lost in a fleeting moment from your adventuring days.
We're thrilled with the strong start and we have a full menu of additional material to unlock as the campaign takes off. As with most crowdfunding efforts, you can help by spreading the word with your friends and sharing the project on social media.
And remember: As a backer you get immediate access to the full text of the rules, so you can start playing Stewpot right now. (See Update #1 for instructions on how to download your copy.)
We've also made the Roll20 Quickstart free for everyone. It provides pregen characters, some starter games, and a beautiful playspace to hang out and share the trials and triumphs of retired life. Get the free Roll20 Quickstart here.
We promise we won't bombard you with updates every time we unlock a stretch, so stay tuned to the Community page to see everything we have in store!
Thank you for helping us kick things off with such a terrific launch.
Project Update: Welcome Traveler
The Backer Preview PDF contains the full text and rules of the game. The most significant work remaining on Stewpot is to commission the final pieces of art. With that in mind, you will see blank placeholder spaces and pages in the Backer Preview PDF where that art will get fitted when it comes in.
The Backer Preview PDF pairs perfectly with the Stewpot Roll20 Quickstart module that anyone can access for free here.
The Roll20 Quickstart contains four sample characters, a sample tavern, and three games: The First Step, Shields and Skillets, and Wear and Tear. It provides a terrific set of tools to start playing online with your friends tonight!
