Of course, nothing is ever as simple as it first looks :D Since the last update, I've requested several upgrades and revisions to the paper specs, along with a revised Hexcrawl Toolbox prototype. After three weeks of waiting, everything finally arrived, and we're still not quite there. We're getting closer for sure, but I can't green-light mass production just yet. Two things in particular need to be addressed:
1. The Hexcrawl Toolbox protoype. The new prototype was designed to hold the hexes more securely. But when I opened it, well, the guidebook and postcards no longer fit inside. Facepalm. Have a look at the picture. So this needs another revision to make sure everything fits properly. Hopefully, this time it'll be faster.
2. The paper required for the item cards/tokens is not good enough yet. The printer sent me some samples, and there's still quite a big difference compared to the tokens we produced for Mausritter. Applying the same force to both, the new samples bend relatively easily, while the Mausritter tokens stay firm. I mean, they would still work fine, i reckon, but i really want to make this premium. We now need to find a supplier with suitable 500gsm paper instead of the 350gsm used for these samples. This will probably cost me extra, but I don't really mind. I just want this to be the best it can be.
So please bear with me here. I hope you appreciate this look behind the scenes and into the decisions I'm making along the way. Keeping you informed is the least I can do. I'm hoping to approve everything for mass production by the end of October. Production should take about seven weeks, putting us somewhere in December, though realistically, with the holidays, it may stretch into January. The original estimate was for fulfilment to begin in January, so we're still on schedule. We're still on schedule ! We're still on schedule ! (i keep repeating this to myself to kill my anxiety.)
NEW PATREON DROP!
I released two new things for FLAIL through my Patreon.
1. A new Warlock class for FLAIL in which they have to sacrifice their own hit points to boost spells! I've found this really thematic and super effective at the table. Basically, I wanted to capture the classic Warlock: someone who struck a bargain with a patron for power, and now has to keep sacrificing bits of themselves to use it. Lots of power, lots of gambling with your own life.
2. A new adventure: Too Many Feathers. It's a Quest Scenario that sends your players chasing three rare birds for the birthday of Lord Puffleton, the rich asshole antagonist of sorts. It does sound like a peaceful, idyllic activity until you consider the sort of birds that inhabit a sword & sorcery world, or the people who might own them, worship them or have been turned to stone by them. I've made this because i've been doing lots of birdwatching and that's where i got the idea from.

I've been making lots of posts about gaming on Instagram. These range from rants about games to mechanics I particularly like, worldbuilding tips, thoughts on dungeon design and just generally love-bombing stuff I enjoy. Roleplaying games, of course, but also books, board games and even vinyl records. If any of that sounds interesting, come follow along.
