Project Update: Behind the Scenes: Making of the License to Grill Video
Welcome again, neighbor, to the cul-de-sac! We’re so close to funding — only 629 away! Thanks to all 335 of you for making everything so far possible! We’re getting closer and closer and hope that we’ll get there all the sooner! Tell your friends, family neighbors, everything! We're so close to that cloth tablecloth in addition to funding!
OK, back to the cul-de sac!
Yes, an actual cul-de-sac to use as our backdrop! Here you can see yours truly being the Grill Dad! Grill Dad, despite the name, was going to be anyone on the day of the shoot. I happened to have the best apron. Obviously. I mean look at that thing. You can also see our cameraman and editor Trevor Casterline as well as GTG Brand Manager Geddy Cary-Avery getting some behind-the-scenes shots. Who took the behind-the-scenes of the behind-the-scenes? Who could say. (Genuinely. I’m pretty sure it was GTG Art Director Darrell Louder, but maybe not?)
We started the day with the gearing up short that some of you might have seen around as an advertisement. Then we got to have fun doing the grilling with not just Grill Dad, but all kinds of Grill Masters to do the prep and grilling itself. Yes, we got to grill and eat actual food! Some of them ended up burned far charred for actual eating. They stayed on that grill a liiiiiittle too long while we were trying to arrange things. It turns out that the game is true to life! One grill makes it hard to fit everything on it!
And finally, here’s how we got those overhead and glamor shots of the grill. It’s basically two fancy sticks fancily placed together and then a camera over it. You can see here me and Trevor again, FRG Marketing Associate Matt Bender, FRG Events Manager Twuana Price, and GTG Game Developer Chris Burton’s body. No head required.
We of course can’t forget GTG Project Manager Matt Kroll who was truly behind the scenes in keeping the shot list flowing from one line to the next! The only place he made it to film was this hand here, doing the oh-so-sexy close-up shots of basting the stake. I may or may not have been too scared of the flames to do any actual grilling.
The shoot took from 10 AM all the way until 3 PM, which seems like a long time for two videos that total to less than five minutes. Actually, we made it in fantastic time! Wild, right? We got to enjoy ourselves for the rest of a fine St. Louis late-spring afternoon. Which meant that it was very hot… basically after 10AM. No worries, though, Geddy made sure that everyone was well hydrated!
And that’s about it for our shoot! It was a fantastically fun day unlike anything most of us have ever done before. We can’t thank our crew and all of our other special guest stars enough for all of their hard work.
Now, let’s cover the achievements that you’ve unlocked so far! Look at you go, we've gotten all of the social media achievements so far!
What more could you ask for to compliment that steak, or even on its own!
These certainly aren’t any small feat! We’ve unlocked these juicy little guys ready for you to grill up.
And that's all for now! Tune in next week when we'll have more for ya!
