Thank you for supporting Hero: 10th Anniversary Edition! Whether you’ve been part of the Rebellion since the beginning or you’ve just stumbled through the wrong portal into the Hub—welcome!
💥 The Low-Down on the Situation
For newcomers: the Hub is the interdimensional network that connects every story in the Defiant Multiverse (aka. my various series). Normally it’s overseen by Vren, a snarky, wise-cracking cosmic dragon and official drama liz—Err, I mean Timeline Guardian™.
Unfortunately… Vren’s missing.
[🐰 'Usually this would be our moment to liberate all the stories from the Archives,' says Plot Bunny General R. Fluffington. 'But we have more pressing issues.']
Extremely pressing issues.
In Vren's absence, a mysterious gremlin is spreading through the Archives, corrupting the timelines and rewriting stories. Disaster is on the horizon.
Luckily the Plot Bunny Resistance, lead by General R. Fluffington, has taken command of the situation. They’re trying to locate the dragon and stabilise the Heroverse. Naturally, this involves forms, chaos, and a surprising amount of paperwork.
⚙️ The Operation
The Hero 10 campaign doubles as an interactive narrative—an ARG (Alternate Reality Game)—where you get to be part of the fun.
You’ll receive updates from Fluffington, discover secret transmissions, and maybe even file a few dubious reports with the Office of Narrative Compliance (ONC).
You don’t need any prior knowledge to join; every mission stands on its own. Participate as much or as little as you like – just know that the fate of the Heroverse may depend on you (and your ability to navigate bureaucracy).

- Stay Tuned: Major story updates and missions appear right here in the Updates tab, and in your inbox if you're a Backer and just Following the campaign.
- Watch for Clues: Some transmissions will link to hidden files, ONC forms, or strange narrative anomalies.
- Join the Hunt: Solve puzzles, vote in community polls, and help the Resistance find the lost dragon.
- Relax: Everything is optional, and you can jump in at any time – even if you missed earlier missions.

Hey, hey!
I seem to have broken the Hub (I know, absolutely no one is surprise), so I've had to use the emergency broadcast channel, which means no Vren, but he'll be back. Alas. Anyways, I wanted to drop you a quick line because it's been yonks since I gave you an update on how the books and everything are going.
The books have taken much longer, and been more complex to put together than I anticipated, but they're finally here. Check out the unboxing video below.

Now that the books are in my hot little hands, I can start sending them to you… next week, because I forgot to order mailers. *sighs* It's been a busy month.

[In the Hub, the giant teal dragon stretches and yawns. No longer singed or ruffled, Vren looks none the worse for wear after his ordeal in the Archives. The Christmas break appears to have done some good.]
Hey, hey Defiant Ones!
If you get the newsletter, you'll know that Vren has took a breather over the festive season and I took one just after, which is why you haven't heard from us in a bit.
In good news, the Omnibus is almost ready to head to the printer, I just need your name for the Acknowledgments section. All going to plan—[🐉 The dragon scoffs. 'When does it ever go to plan?']—books will be printed and ready for posting by the end of January.
Before that happens though…

Surveys are starting to roll out! Only a few select test subjects— Err, I mean wonderful helpful people, have been sent surveys so far, so if you don't see yours yet… never fear, your turn is coming.

This is my working markup – salty comments, swearing, and Vren in the margins included. It contains notes and asides that will not appear in the official Nexus Edition, including my unfiltered opinions on introductions and the special hell that is writing acknowledgments.

The dragon has been found—
Flame wipes out the rest of the report.
The screen flickers.
Flickers again and then—
[🐉 A giant teal eye, slit-pupiled like a snake's—or a dragon's—fills the screen.
It blinks. There's a sound like a great bellows sighing and then… the camera pulls back and back, and back and BACK…
Eventually it stops and there, square in centre frame is Vren, the great cosmic dragon in all his frilled and horned glory. His mane looks a little singed and there's a smudge of soot on his long, equine-like muzzle, but he appears otherwise none the worse for wear.
'Hello, little mortal,' he says. 'I hear you helped with my… predicament in the Office of Narrative Compliance. The algorithms can be a little overzealous at times, not helped by the Author's constant meddling.'
From a great distance comes an indignant, 'Hey!', which the dragon ignores.
'For your help I must thank you, little mortal. My foray into the Library of Unwritten Things and then into the Office of Narrative Compliance was… fruitful.'
His gaze flicks down to one of the massive, leathery wings folded neatly against his scaled side, and in the crease where it rests against his foreleg, you spot the top of a scroll.
Vren clears his throat and the camera snaps back to his face, even as he taps the scroll deeper into the shadows under his wing.
'Secrets for another time, little mortal. Until then, I'm sure you're wondering what happens now that the Hero 10th Anniversary was a success.
'Well, once again the Author has left me to oversee everything, but she did provide this timeline of when to expect surveys and your books.']

What happens next…
- We started here —> The Hero 10th Anniversary campaign is done, and thanks to you, it's a resounding success! Thank you 🙂.
- BackerKit's turn (Next 7 days): BackerKit will collect your pledges. Don't worry if there are any hiccups with your payment method – they'll reach out directly to sort things out.
- Survey time! (Coming soon): You'll receive a survey through BackerKit where you can:
- Choose your name for the Acknowledgments (or remain a mysterious rebel)
- Confirm your shipping details
- Grab any last-minute add-ons you might have missed
- The Author will send another update when these go out.
- Survey lockdown: You'll have plenty of time to adjust your choices, but once we lock the surveys, only shipping addresses can be changed. Don't worry – you'll get 24 hours notice before this happens!
- Your name in print: Once surveys are locked, your chosen name will be immortalised in the Acknowledgments.
- Digital delivery: All ebooks and digital goodies will wing their way to you via BackerKit. As always, the Author will send an update when this happens.
- Production begins: The Hero Nexus Editions head to the printer, and the magic becomes reality!
- The great packing adventure: Once the books arrive, the Author will sign, number, and carefully pack each one.
- Final address check: One last chance to update your shipping address before the books begin their journey.
- The grand departure: The Author will make Sam the postwoman's day with a mountain of parcels. You'll receive tracking information for your packages where applicable.
